It's another flower day. Yesterday was my wife's birthday. Back when we lived in Ktown, I used to buy flowers from Eighth Street Florist several times a year. They always did such a great job with their arrangements and service. But ever since we moved down to O.C., I've missed having a florist like this nearby. This year, my wife started a new job in DTLA--so I figured it was the perfect time to go back to Eighth Street Florist. I asked for a fresh summer arrangement to be delivered to her office, and just a couple hours later, I got a long message from her with photos, telling me how beautiful the flowers were. She was thrilled. The florist even texted me a photo of the arrangement before delivery and confirmed when it was dropped off. That kind of follow-through really stands out these days. She is literally one of our favorite wedding vendors we worked with. Our flowers turned out amazing and definitely stole the show. I gave her inspiration for the style I was going for and she truly went above and beyond. Usually people don't remember the flowers and my friends that had a wedding prior said don't spend too much money on things guests don't remember - BUT we met with our friends days after the wedding and everyone talked about how beautiful the flowers were. I've never seen roses that big and at the end of the night we had no centerpieces left because all the guests took it. We got married on the hottest weekend of the year (Labor day weekend) and it was well over 100F in Yorba Linda. Her and her team ran around before and throughout the wedding spraying the flowers with ice water to keep it fresh. Even my planner said she has not seen florists do this. They even stayed almost until the end to move down the centerpieces so guests could take them. My venue was super strict and only allowed vendor access 2hrs prior to the wedding and she worked quickly with her team to make sure everything was ready to go. When I was getting ready to walk down the aisle, she stayed with me to spray all the bridesmaids bouquets, groomsmen boutineers, flower girl flower crowns, and my bouquets. Where do I even begin? After our previous plan for flowers fell through, we needed a new (and rather last-minute!) arrangement a little less than a month before our wedding. Eighth Street Florist immediately pulled together samples of what we were looking for as well as what they personally recommended, and I cannot emphasize how surprised I was about their willingness to work within our budget while also refusing to skimp out on the aesthetics, while the other places we'd inquired at were much less flexible. We were completely blown away by the setup on our big day--the arch above our loveseat, the bride's bouquet, the centerpieces and extra arrangements on the bride and groom's table, my boutonniere (which I'm still much too sentimental to throw away yet, even a month after!! It was so cute and perfect!), etc. etc. All so, so very gorgeous!!! Can't recommend this place enough, especially for everyone who lives in/around Koreatown. My BFF matron of honor who is an event coordinator referred me to Jae from Best Wishes 8th Street Florist as well as my planner from Sky Meadow Place. They understood the look I was going for and made my wedding gorgeous within a very reasonable budget. My wedding colors were not easy color to translate into flowers: Eggplant/Marsala/Plum with champagne and neutral tones...however Jae pulled through with 18 gorgeous centerpieces, 1 full arch, 1 bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 groom boutonniere, 6 groomsmen boutonnieres, and 9 family boutonnieres. I am so beyond pleased with the floral decorations that Eighth Street Florist did for my wedding. Before the wedding, I had one or two meetings with the owner to go over the colour scheme and any specific requests. I brought inspiration photos and described the vibe I was going for, but left the specific flower choices up to her. (Side note: it is easier on your budget and for her if you trust her with the flower choices, especially with the floral shortage going on). The owner is very knowledgeable and honest, and can tell you what will give you the most bang for your buck. The price was reasonable and included the gold vase rentals and set up/tear down. On the wedding day, the team was up early to set up the flower garland and aisle pieces. It was a hot day, so they had to work extra hard to mist everything and keep it fresh. One of the assistants made sure to mist my bouquet regularly and even fanned me as I was taking photos (so sweet). The owner and assistants stayed for the whole event to set up, move the garland and aisle pieces to the reception room, refresh said pieces with new flowers, and collect the vases at the end of the event (so that I didn't have to return them later). I understood the floral garland price when I saw how much labour goes into it! All the flowers really blew me away, and multiple people raved about them. I was especially touched to see the dahlias and peonies, because I know they're more expensive, and I was really just expecting normal roses. Even my husband noticed the specific flowers and especially liked my bouquet. I would recommend Eighth Street Florist to anyone, for basic bouquets or weddings or other events. I will absolutely get all of my future flowers from them, because I know the end product will be beautiful. read more

Eighth Street Florist is the best. They did an amazing job at my wedding and I can't imagine how it would turn out without their work. My wedding was on that strangest weather weekend in LA with heavy rain in February and they were so accommodating with the change of plan (we had to move the ceremony and cocktail hour to inside). They turned the reception ballroom beyond what I could imagined. I was blown away! I couldn't ask for a better florist. During and after the wedding, everyone (including other vendors) came up to me and said who was my florist and how beautiful the flowers and decorations were. They are transparent with pricing and how they will work. They also stayed till the end of the wedding/reception to take down the flowers from the arch and sweetheart table. I would recommend Eight Street Florist to anyone and everyone. They delivered more than they promised and I'm so happy with how my wedding turned out and the photos came out. I wrote a review for them on that page, but I'll reproduce here: They may have relocated to 8th St. Flowers, but the quality of their work and their service and attention to detail is still on point! I always go see Jay when I need flowers - whether it's for a special occasion or I just want some pretty flowers to liven up the home, Jay always knows what I'm looking for. So when I came to ordering flowers for my wedding, it was a no-brainer. I knew that I could count on Jay and her team to put together the most beautiful arrangements for the hubs and my big day. What I appreciated most about her was that she was considerate enough to ask about my favorite flowers (and not just the color/theme of the wedding), but she was upfront and honest about which flowers are (unnecessarily) expensive and which ones wouldn't last until the end of the night. I used 8th St. Florist back in April 2016 and had a great experience however recently when I tried to call in another order I had the same issue as Caitlin B did. As soon as I started speaking English I was hung up on. When I called back, somebody picked up, said "sorry, no English, bye." and hung up again. I wasn't given a chance to switch to Korean to attempt to communicate, while I'm not a fluent Korean speaker, I could probably ask a couple simple yes or no questions as well as get a phone number. I don't want to ruin their great rating on Yelp, which they deserve because their work is brilliant and beautiful, but at the same time, I'd hope they're willing to help their non-Korean speaking customers out a little, possibly by having the lady provide a cell phone for the English speaking employee that took my order in April? read more

My mom bought me a money tree here about year and half ago. Root rotted so I had to throw it away. The pot is so deep I didn't want to dig everything out to put another plant. When I don't water more than a month, there's still water dripping when I picked the pot up. So I decided to make more drainage. When I dug it up I found a plastic wrap over the drainage hole. This was my first time purchasing from Eight Street Florist after seeing such great reviews on yelp. I called in and informed the florist of the occasion, price range, and sent her a few inspiration photos I wanted my bouquet to emulate. When I went in to pick up my order the bouquet looked similar, but not exactly the same. I was looking for more muted tones (light pink and white roses), but the bouquet consisted of bright florescent pink roses with pink wrapping around it. Although the actual florist who designed the bouquet was not present to make the changes, the owner of the store was more than willing to help and make the adjustments herself. She allowed me to freely select the roses I wanted in replacement and choose from her wide selection of wrapping paper/bows. She was so kind and helpful and made the bouquet look really close to what I was envisioning. I'll definitely be coming back here for more flowers! read more

She was exceptionally kind and accommodating and followed through with my vision in the most artistic and thoughtful way. For example, initially I asked for a certain flower for the groomsmen boutonnières but she had the experience and foresight to recommend a different flower that would actually survive the heat on our warm July wedding day - which I'm so thankful for!
