Stay away from this place!!! Unfortunately, I didn't do my due diligence and look up Google reviews on this business. My friend had gotten a dog from this place 10 years ago and she was fostering with them so I thought they were legit. When we went there to see our rescue dog, they wouldn't let us come in. There was a strong smell coming from inside when I popped my head in the front door. I didn't follow my gut and have had nothing but difficulty dealing with Trina and her organization, EJ rescue. They wouldn't communicate with me and then gaslight me. Something so simple as just communicating regarding when my dog is supposed to have her vaccinations & getting her ownership papers. Our dog ended up having worms and other health issues. I don't believe that they did vaccinations on her. We still don't have her ownership papers, and I don't imagine I will ever get them now. I just found out from watching the news that EJ rescue has had 29 dog seized and two people were arrestEd. inhumane care of dogs, keeping them in crates with feces. I hope that Trina and EJ rescue is closed down for good and not allowed to have animals again! They are also a profit business not a nonprofit!! Trina has a horrible reputation with every dog groomer, vet, and dog trainer that I chatted to. One person a groomer, who knows Treena personally told me, she's not a good person. They are still posting dogs to be fostered and rescued! Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable organization. A good reminder to do your due diligence, and look up organizations. I was looking for a small size rescue puppy and none of the humane society got anything. Then I found about EJ Rescue foundation on the web who got plenty of the size/age I was looking for. I contacted them through e-mail and sent them the adoption forms. When they didn't answer, we went to their place (E-daycare) and saw the dog we chose. As everybody mentioned, the smell was terrible that we barely lasted for 5 min. This was Saturday 2 Dec. 2023. On Monday 4 Dec, I paid them the "Donation" money 950 $ and went to bring the dog. From asking the lady there "Trina": - The dog has a chip and registered already - He took multi vaccines to his age. Next one will be in 2 weeks time and they will call me. - The dog is treated for parasite - All medical records and adoption papers will be sent by e-mail within 2 weeks - If any issue, I should seek the advice of their medical department medical@ejrescuecanada.ca "a local vet". - They will arrange the neutralization of the puppy when his age is due. - No receipt for donation since although they are registered as not-for-profit company, they are not registered as a charity so they cant issue a donation receipt (although their web site and e-mail mentioned clearly that it is "donation". When took the puppy home, we had some concerns about his health. For more than 10 days, we tried to get in touch with EJ Rescue, but in vain to have a response on e-mail. When I called the only phone I have "Trina" , she told me that she was taken to police custody and her team will answer me as soon as possible. Eventually. We took the dog to a vet on our account to discover: - Yes he had a chip but it was not registered - The Male dog we wanted and they promoted is actually a female! Her age is not 12 weeks but actually 17 weeks. - Off course, after all this, we didn't believe anything EJ Rescue told us and we decided to treat Olive as if she was a straw dog. Needless to say, the lies and fake information we got could have jeopardized our safety in addition to the safety of the pet. I feel very bad of such business practices in Alberta and such cruelty imposed on these beautiful animals hence I decided to share this story. read more

We rescued a dog from this business and we were told that we would receive her vet I.D. and a receipt for the 700.00 dollars that we paid to adopt our fur baby and two months later I have tried to Facebook them and emailed but to no avail we still haven't received the papers. I recommend that you use a more reputable rescue foundation to find your new fur baby. read more

I briefly volunteered for this place and worked for the Dog E daycare both owned by the same person. The day care is a mess with mostly foster dogs. I was bitten by a foster, was told it was my fault because she doesn't like to be pet more than once. Bite history's are hidden from adopters. My disabled sister adopted a dog, and never received a receipt or medical records. Dogs are brought in from the US and Mexico and taken to adoption events on arrival. If you have any complaints or bad reviews be prepared to be harassed to take bad reviews down. They spend most of their time and energy to call those with complaints liars, then actually fixing the issues read more

My experience with EJ rescue was horrible. They are not fit to take care of animals and if you do some simple google searches, you will know why. They are a scam. You will not get your Vet records. They will not tell you the history of the animal. You will see how incompetent their staff are. Most of all, they do their own vaccinations - and are unqualified to do so. read more

I would not recommend adopting from this organization. We adopted a puppy and never received any of her medical records and can guarantee we will not receive "the out of town" vet credits we were supposed to get either. I have adopted from multiple rescues over the years and have never had an experience like this. Thankfully our puppy is healthy and happy but if they truly cared about the overall, long-term well-being of the animals they are adopting out, they would be following up with the health records and confirming spay/neutering is actually taking place. We adopted a Husky Cross from EJ Rescue in July 2021. The whole adoption experience was unlike anything that we have come across in Dog adoption. We did not receive a receipt for the $700.00 adoption fee and also did not receive the promised health records. The Dog we adopted was advertised as good with children and good with other dogs. This was far from the case. Within hours of the adoption, the Dog we adopted, attacked without provocation our Sheppard Rotti cross causing three serious puncture wounds to his left ear. We immediately crated our newly adopted Dog, fearful as to what would happen next. Our Dog has not been the same since this attack and we are very concerned about his well being. Our dog is now recovering from his physical injuries. EJ Rescue has not had any communication with us to even ask how our Dog is doing. We contacted the Foster Person an she relayed to EJ Rescue what had happened. We told the Foster Person that we were going to bring the Dog back to her place on the same day after work. We received an e-mail from their Medical Person telling us sorry it did not work out. The Medical Person told us we would receive our money back after the adopted Dog was adopted again??? To date EJ Rescue gas not refunded it responded to our request for a full refund even though it states there is a 7 day trial-return clause in their contract. It has been our experience that EJ Rescue only communicates by email an that you really have no way of knowing who you are actually writing too. We recommend to anyone looking to adopt a Dog to use a more reputable adoption agency. read more

Here is my honest review of EJ. We adopted a seemingly healthy 4 month old puppy in June 2022. We paid $750 for her, and though I thought that was a lot of money for a rescue, I figured I was doing something good by saving a puppy who needed a loving home. I also didn't have to travel out of town to pick her up, so I saw that as a savings as well. They included some gear and 2 bags of food for her, not the right kind of food, but food none the less. Once I paid, they tried to tell me they forgot to charge me a "donation fee" for the gear they had provided and that I should send them an additional donation. I just paid $750, and you want more money? When we asked what the ball park size of her would be, they told us 45lbs full grown. She is now 5 months old and is 35lbs.. so I will go on a limb and say she is going to be double than what we had wanted which they knew was a 45lb max. Regardless, we noticed how large her paws were and weren't oblivious to the fact that this was most likely completely untrue. But this just proves they will tell you anything you want to hear to make a sale. We were told the medical/vaccination records would be sent 14 days after adoption. I later found out that was 14 days after the first 7 days with the dog. That seemed acceptable at the time, however strange because at the end of the day these are just scanned copies that should be fairly simple to forward in an email. The second day we owned the puppy she sounded like she had kennel cough so I emailed them (as per protocol) and requested a vet visit. The told me it was likely just a transition related issue and to give her some home remedies to help. On the 4th day of having her, I came home from work to find her in medical distress, she was struggling to breath, her lungs were making a crackling sound, she was coughing up mucus and she could barely stand up. I emailed EJ, and rushed her to the closest open vet I could find. They told me she was in critical condition at arrival and thanked me for getting her in for help so quickly. Considering I had no medical records I went along with what the vet recommended for treatment. It turned out she had a lung infection/pneumonia. $600 later we were on our way. I had been in contact with EJ the whole time and basically once I had told them everything that had transpired at the vet their tone changed, and they began telling me what I did was completely out of line and unnecessary. We continued to battle about the vet bill for 2 weeks following this appointment, at which point I was exhausted with arguing and settled for the $150 refund they offered towards the bill. A week later (1 month post adoption) I received her medical records, and funny enough she had been admitted into their vet with the exact same issues, so no wonder they thought I was being unreasonable when I took her in for treatment. But how was I supposed to know, I had not seen her records until after this all transpired. How convenient. This was not a fun or rewarding experience what so ever, it has been completely stressful. I hope you've made it this far, because my conclusion is that I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to adopt a dog from this place. Local vets and animal by-law will tell you the same thing. Sure they have a lot of "happy" stories, and its nothing but pure bliss on their Facebook page, but they delete anything negative. I gave them 2 stars because I didn't honestly expect them to transfer the $150, but they did. I would have given them more if they actually took responsibility for how preventable this could have been if they actually got her in to see a vet when I asked, specially knowing her medical history. They are also supposed to pay $150 towards her spay, and pay for her Rabies vaccination which she still does not have but no one has responded to my multiple emails. Adopting a dog should not be this hard nor stressful. Thankfully the only good thing to come out of this is our dog. Because she really is the perfect addition to our family, and our kids adore her just as much as she does them. read more

I e-mailed them twice and no response, after reading the bad reviews i'm glad they didn't call back, the dog I wanted probably wasn't even their. What a scam!!!! My MIL adopted two dogs from this place. They told her the older dog was spade and the young one was not. Part of the $800 adoption fee was to get the younger one spade. Took 3 months and threats on Instagram to go to the police for her to get any reply on that matter. Sad she had to go to Instagram and make these threats since they email box was "full" and they wouldn't return her calls. (I'm sure they blocked both my MIL and SIL's emails.) The younger dog finally did get spade at some vet in Ramsey where they wouldn't give her EJ Rescue's contact info. Even how the appointment was set up was a joke and unprofessional. EJ Rescue has not provided any adoption papers or nothing for either dog. They even lied about the ages and breed of the dogs. Thankfully, these dogs have found a great forever home and are doing well. Anyone looking for a new pet, you are better to look at legit adoption agency and than support these crooks! DO NOT ADOPT FROM THIS ORGANIZATION. No receipt, No medical records. No credit for shots and procedures that we had to pay for ourselves. To make matters worse, he came with a case of Kennel Cough which required our vet to lock down and sanitize their whole facility - along with a hefty bill for us. We do love our dog but after 22 (twenty two!!!) E-mails and no credit for our expenses that they promised to cover, we just want to save others from the heartbreak of dealing with EJ. read more

We adopted our puppy through EJ Rescue and had the best experience. we had reached out to other rescues and we didn't get a response from any of them. We contacted EJ rescue and adopted our beautiful girl the next day. I would highly recommend and will be adopting another dog from them very soon. Thank you EJ Rescue!! read more

Not a great experience. They did not provide their vet as they should have on the cost of adoption. They stopped responding after notifying them that I had to take the puppy to my own vet. Said he was dewormed, but record showed otherwise. Puppy started showing symptoms just after two days of adoption. Still waiting to hear back. read more

This rescue has been great to deal with. I recently adopted my puppy, Ophelia, from them. They made the process of adoption easy and they helped cover medical fees for her shots. They did their due diligence during the screening stage. I had to send a lot of background info in order to be approved for adoption. I love their spay/neuter program. Ophelia's mom was a young dog in need of spaying and they took her in, gave her a safe and comfortable space to have her 10 puppies and then they spayed her before sending her back to her family. We need more organizations like this one who wants to help every animal they possibly can. 5 stars! Thanks EJ Rescue for giving me the most precious pup! read more
