"A FOUL SINKHOLE FRAUGHT WITH FINANCIAL PERIL" First, a caveat to anyone reading this posting: ALL those 4- and 5-star reviews here are fake. Period. If you study the forensic 'footprints' of the writers, you'll see they all came from the same author. Next, carefully study the responses provided by "Erik", the Mouth Man from EJ's Auctions who answers only a select few complaints. He talks in generalities, makes convenient excuses, spins great double-talk, and manages to turn the victim into the villain on every single one of his slippery, one-sided replies. It's clearly evident, as several victims here have noted, EJ's Auctions makes up terms on the fly, and to hell with what's contained in their rubbery contracts. It was only last week that I became aware of this outfit from an ad they posted in an Apache Junction paper. AJ already had one crooked auction that was shut down after years of short-changing both bidders and consignors. I have a large estate recently appraised by Arizona Collectibles at $350,000 and wanted to know how honest and dedicated the folks at EJ's Auctions are. I've been in the auction biz since I was ten, starting with estate sales in New England, online auctions from the world's biggest online auction fraud-pit eBay, to local sales in California and Arizona. My research into this completely crooked outfit revealed much more than these owners wanted to disclose in my attempts to communicate with them. Among the facts uncovered in our investigation of EJ's Auctions: FALSE: "We invest significantly in marketing your assets to the world through a variety of traditional and non traditional methods" is a great, big, fat lie. Nothing is ever researched, nor is even one nickel ever spent on marketing anyone's consignments. They do not have any experts in any subjects, nor do they hire consultants or even competent photographers. FALSE: "We have registered bidders from all 50 states and over 75 foreign countries". Even if they did, that doesn't mean they're generous spenders. MISLEADING: "we have our own transportation division that packs & moves all your items." Only after the move is completed, is there a hefty, undisclosed charge that often eclipses the final settlement, thereby leaving the victim consignor upside-down in debt to EJ's Auctions. OMITTED INFO: "next available auction" date is not disclosed, nor is consignor permitted to attend. FALSE: "...write detailed descriptions..." This is completely false. They have no one knowledgeable to write intelligent, helpful descriptions, which is why you see $2,500 items being sold for $35. OMITTED INFO: "We are paid a commission or percentage". Like all sleazy auction operators, they refuse to disclose those rates, instead making them up as they go, after sizing up how gullible the consigner might be, or at least how deep his pockets are. MISLEADING: "we will discuss our rates after knowing what you have". In other words, "Show me yours first then I'll show you mine." Whenever the consignor speaks first, he loses. FALSE: "Auctions are settled 21 business days after sale." In real time, that means - counting weekends and holidays - victims can expect to wait at least a month. Victims of EJ's Auctions report not hearing from anyone for the better part of a year - which means EJ's is skimming off all that interest and never giving it back to the consignors. FALSE: "you will receive an itemized and detailed report outlining each item sold." The majority of consignors get not even a receipt, let alone a detailed list of items sold. Nor are consignors allowed at the sale on the appointed dates. Victims report their eventual payments are usually shorted by undisclosed "mystery fees''. TRUE: "All items are sold AS IS WHERE IS no warranty." And that includes secret fake bids by EJ's staff. When they see something they can resell for themselves, they cut the bidding off early, which results in your item selling for an unrealistic low price to one of their insiders. TRUE: Consignors are not warned they do not have the option of placing a "reserve" (minimum bid) on any item. That means EJ's auctioneers can manipulate the bidding so a $4,000 item can sell for $15. EJ's collects all the profit, leaving the seller nothing. TRUE: Chargebacks and refunds are charged to the consignor, while the merchandise remains the possession of the bidder, and is forfeited. CAVEAT EMPTOR: EJ's Auctions has created clever new ways of cheating that even supersede the habitual tricks I've observed over the years. When considering these corrupt sharks, expect to be dealing with slick criminals who have long felony records in jurisdictions beyond the borders of Arizona. Caution Advised When Purchasing from This Seller As a comic book collector, I strongly recommend exercising caution before purchasing from this seller. The listings provided no detailed description of the comics' condition, which is essential for collectible items. Additionally, the provided photographs were positioned in a way that obscured the overall condition of the books, making it difficult to assess their quality accurately. Upon receipt, I discovered undisclosed water damage, a significant defect that was not mentioned in the listing. Please note that items are sold "as is," with limited recourse available to buyers in such cases. Regarding shipping, the packaging was inadequate for valuable collectibles. The comics were placed in a bubble wrap envelope rather than a proper protective box, despite an $8 charge specifically listed for a box. This level of protection increases the risk of damage during transit. Furthermore, the shipping fee of $18 for in-state delivery (approximately 32-35 miles from Gilbert, AZ to Glendale, AZ) appears excessive. Most eBay sellers nationwide charge around $10-$13 for similar comic book shipments, including proper packaging and a sturdy box. This rate seems disproportionately high for the distance and service provided. In total, the winning bid was $15, plus a $5 commission fee, $8 for the "box," and $18 for shipping, resulting in an overall cost of $46. Unfortunately, the comics' value does not justify this amount. I have learned from this experience and will not purchase from this seller again. For comic book collectors, I recommend sticking to reputable platforms like eBay (with well-described and properly photographed listings) or trusted local comic shops where condition can be verified in person. Always review seller feedback, detailed descriptions, and shipping policies carefully before bidding. read more

There are a lot of new people here that don t understand the auction business but the STAFF is amazing with helping new bidders figure it out. There are always great items here! Something new each week. Great place to find historical items,Antiques,modern designs, and much much more...... After reading some of the reviews and comments from customers i thought others should know, EJS IS the Only Auction House open for three days of the week for preview. They also offer condition reports upon request of any items available for auction that weekend. People are very opinionated and YOU should come down and check it out for yourselves. It's been almost three years that I have come to this place and I don't come here every week more like every few months but my experience seems to get better every time if that's really possible but I've gotta say last week how these people handled an unruly customer was nothing less than amazing. Very well trained staff and the compassion they showed this customer was to be applauded. Basically they sold some stuff from a feuding family that had a sister absolutely freaking out about selling her mother who had passed stuff. She was really upset not so much about the prices just about seeing things she grew up with pass to new owners. The staff pulled her aside and calmed her down and made everyone comfortable with what happened and the auction continued without a hitch. Impressive staff and company all the way around! read more

We have been a customer for over 12 years and have found them to be very professional and honest. They always have this week's auction items published and available for preview several days prior to the auction. Their descriptions and pictures are superior to a lot of other auction houses. You can either leave a maximum bid prior to the auction date or follow the auction as it progresses. If you leave a maximum bid of say $100.00 and the next highest bidder only bids $75.00 then you would be the high bidder at $80.00 . That type of integrity is not universal throughout the auction industry. When we have consigned items to be sold they have always treated us fairly and have placed them in an auction in a timely manor. There are always ample employees on duty and they go out of their way to be helpful. read more

EJ's Auction House has become one of the most enjoyable places to go to find items, that may be one of a kind, and displayed in a way that is attractive and lends itself to easy viewing. I credit this to the hiring of Caleb and the current staff. From the front desk to the help on the floor, all associates, under Caleb's leadership present a very professional yet personable atmosphere and the experience is always enjoyable. While there may have been good Managers in the past, both while doing live auctions and after, I see such an incredible level of professionalism and service since Caleb it is even better than before. Shopping at EJ's is like Christmas every week. You never know what treasure you're going to find. Their prices are very reasonable. Why buy brand new when you can get better quality merchandise for much less at EJ's. The staff becomes like family. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. From the women working in the office to the floor guys. Ask for Roy when you go there. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He always has a smile on his face. i have been buying on-line from them for over a year without disappointment, so i though i should mention it. their items are very well represented with clear photos & accurate descriptions. and they are very quick to respond to messages and/or requests for more information. best of all, items won are invoiced next day and are at the shipper within a couple days of payment. and the shipping company they refer is really fair with pricing and open to suggestions. i have never had a bad experience with ej's and highly recommend them. read more

I am fairly new to EJ's.....winning several bids.....since all my winnings have to be shipped.....I can say they have done a fabulous job getting my things to me. They are wonderfully helpful.....and very kind...and professional. The email explained my payment options and how their third-party shipping process works. When I called in with some additional questions, they were very nice and courteous over the phone. I bought an item that did not work at all and even though their policies state that you are buying "as is", the ladies in the office extended me a full credit and even did it with a smile on their faces! I never fail to find something unique, useful, or both at EJ's auctions, often at a more than reasonable price and the entire staff is helpful and friendly. EJ's also auctioned of my dad's garageful of tools, coming to the house and packing everything up and even offering to demolish a wall in there so the old man could finally park his car in there for the first time. One of the most professional courteous sweet people you ever meet that has always handled my transactions perfectly. Not "EVER" Again! Purchased (1-Lot of 3 Items) 2 Picture frames, and 1 small lot of 7 reproduction badges total cost $72.00 they sent me a shipping fee in the amount of $255.00+ for 3 items that could have not weighed more than a total weight of 15lbs, We had to forfeit our auction lot due to their ridiculous shipping fees, They Told us it was FedEx charges yet we had asked for "In House" shipping which is generally "a lot" cheaper. read more

I have bid both online and in person at EJ's Auctions. Both have been excellent experiences and being there in person is awesome!! It's very interesting having three different auctions going on at the same time but it's also very fun and exciting. All of the staff have been very nice and helpful. Outstanding items, people, and service structure at EJs. I found out about them within the year and glad to patronize them locally. Found, many, great items. They lower the BP if you attend live so that helps. All staff have been great.
