Loved this restaurant! I went with an elderly couple to El Acapulco for lunch and was very impressed by the interior cleanliness and ambiance. The waiter that came to our table was very kind, patient, friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us time to ask him questions about the menu and decide what to order. One friend had a shrimp cocktail while my other friend and I both had a tamale with refried beans and Mexican rice. While waiting, we had chips and salsa which were both made there. The chips were warm and thin and crispy and the salsa was thick and chunky with fresh ingredients. The shrimp cocktail came in a huge glass with chunks of vegetables and about 10-12 large shrimp! The tamale was large, filled with mildly spiced shredded meat, refried beans and Mexican rice were the perfect complement to the tamale. I also had flan for desert and it was the best I've ever had!all this cost less than $30 for the 3 of us! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Mexican food. This is yet another one of those places where I revisit every few years and then I'm reminded why I'm not a regular. It's fine, but there's about a hundred other places around here that serve this similar Tex-Mex (Ark-Mex?) style in Central Arkansas. Also, the few times I've been here, the servers could not get my orders right. So there's that. i do like the interior decor, it's like the old school Mexican restaurants of the 70's/80's-- think Mexico Chiquito or Casa Bonita in their heydays. I have to start off by saying yes, this is another Americanized Mexican food restaurants, but I can also say it is most likely my favorite in Conway. My dining companion and I usually frequent a couple of other Mexican restaurants in Conway, and were looking for a new venue to try. I remembered going to El Acapulco a couple times with other friends and suggested we give it a try. Good choice! It was amazing! We went around 2:00 pm so we could still order off of the lunch menu. My dining companion had the Fajitas Jalisco (chicken, steak & shrimp) and I had the fajita chicken quesadilla. The fajitas were an ample portion, especially at a lunch price. He was extra pleased that the shrimp came de-veined, but was a little disappointed at the lack of steak...typical carnivore. The quesadilla was hands down the best I've ever had! The meat was tender and not scraggly and chewy like can be found other places at times. They used melted, shredded cheese as well as cheese dip, adding more flavor. The bean dip/cheese dip was also amazing, thick but not pasty, and not too thin and soupy. My companion had the salsa, and said it tasted fresh and amazing! Definitely a new favorite! read more

This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Conway, by far since I was a kid. I've probably been there more times than I can count, and tried the majority of the menu. I have never been dissatisfied. The food is so good and the salsa is homemade with cilantro and amazing! In the passed couple years I have noticed the quality of the food improve, and it was exceptional to begin with! The desserts are also really great, and beautiful to look at. The staff are all super friendly and the restaurant is clean. The new renovation is also really nice! If you're coming through town and craving Mexican food, this is the place to go. read more

Ate here during a business trip. We asked the woman at the front desk at Holiday Inn conway her favorite spot. She recommended here. She said it's nice because conway is mostly a dry town and they serve alcohol. We were greeted at our table with "margaritas???" yup!! They were great and huge! We were coming back from a road trip and stopped for the night at a hotel near the El Acapulco. We noticed all the cars as we drove to the hotel and the desk clerk confirmed our suspicions when her first recommendation was El Acapulco. The food was delicious! I wish I could remember exactly what we got -- I know it was *something* Chihuahua and that same *something* Lubispo (maybe?). The margaritas were really tasty and the salsa was good, too. Went a few nights ago with a group of 9. It was about 45 minutes before closing. They did not mind such a large group so late. Food was great as was the service. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star is because the waiter claimed the soda machine was broken and could no longer give us sodas. Truth is they were already cleaning it and all he would have had to say was that they had already turned it off for the night and started to clean it. read more

My wife and I used to come here all the time for coffee and dessert; dont worry we always left a great tip because we know the perils of being a server on small ticket orders. However, literally every time we have been here the last six or seven times, our server has told us they are "put of coffee" at 5 or 6 pm. This is obviously a lie given by a server that would rather lose business than go make a pot of coffee. The last few times we just asked another server or host and they said that they just needed to go put a pot on. Alas, after not bothering coming for a while, we came back and got the same lame line, "we are out of coffee". When we raised our concern that it seemed odd a mexican cuisine restaurant is out of coffee on a mildly slow saturday night at 5pm. He said, "well let me go check again". Came back and said he had put a pot on. Then, get pur coffee, and he says they have no creamer, but only milk. The only reason this place still gets 2 stars is because their food is fairly decent. Not the best in town, but not the worst either. However, it is usually a hit or miss with the service. read more

As you can see, I have rated them "As good as it gets!" for Arkansas Mexican Food. I miss the Tex Mex I grew up on, but for Conway, El Alcapulco has been a great place for me and my 2 kids. Amazingly it's one of the few places that they will always eat everything on their plates. Last night I ordered Guacamole to go. The boys wanted BK and I thought that I would do well to get the Guac and let them have what they wanted. It pains me to report that the Guac was the worst I have ever eaten. I think the avacados must have been soured/spoiled, I am not sure, but it is some of the worst Guac I have ever tasted. I am struggling with it is the right thing to do to take it back and tell them. I tried it again tonight, hoping that it was just me, but it's not. I guess I am going with the intentions of I am hoping that I help them. Maybe someone else ordered it there and it was as bad as mine. read more

So far warm beer and bland salsa and the food is run of the mill, nothing special so don't go out of your way for this. The manager should be fired as this used to be very good. They must be cooking out of a can. When the food cooled a bit it got hard and nasty but the girl is nice even though you can tell she is just here. Nonetheless I made my last trip here. I read the other reviews and people are lying or they would be satisfied with a can of something from Walmart. Now a lady is complaining her glass is cracked so they don't pay attention to detail at all. A lady just rolled in that had a take out and she is telling them almost ever thing was wrong. My family and I are big fans of Mexican Restaurants, so we have a lot to compare El Acapulco to. By far, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to! We always get the sky surf and turf dip as an appetizer and it's fantastic. All their fajitas are done extremely well, the meat and vegetables cooked to perfection. Everything we've eaten there has tasted incredible. And the service is as good as the food. Our server was polite, friendly, and very attentive. Their facilities are clean, which is always a must. Overall, a perfect review and if you're a fan of Mexican food like us then I can't recommend this enough. Try it out the next time you get a chance! read more

We showed up at 9:45 PM on Saturday night and had a table of seven which included four kids. They were very welcoming. The service was prompt and the food was good. We have eaten at el Acapulco for years. Today we ate there for Sunday lunch. The waitress told us that they had a special today for 27 different menu items at $5.49 each. We also noted the sign displaying the same price at the front as that day's special. When we went to check out, I noticed the ticket said $5.99. We asked the lady checking us out about it. She insisted that the price was $5.99. I do not understand a business wanting to lose a faithful repeat customer for a dollar but that is what they did. Beware. Integrity and honesty is expected of a business.. I am sure others were ripped off not even noticing the price on the ticket. Stay away from them.. It is sad for them to lose a customer after years of eating there. read more
