Traditional Burrito! Great flavor and big serving!

Attentive staff, quick service and hot fresh food! Small town and a little out of the way but worth the drive.

Super friendly & fast service with reasonable pricing. We walked in as a party of 6 & were greeted on entry & told it was ok to sit anywhere. Chips & salsa were dropped off while we looked over the menu. I ordered a burrito which was decent- I didn't care for it having lettuce & tomatoes on it tho, especially since at least half of it was going home with me... and, after sampling a friend's dish, really wished I'd ordered the enchiladas- they were FABULOUS. Loved the verde tamal as well. I'd absolutely go back & I'd order enchiladas ; )

The food is absolutely fantastic!! Authentic, delicious comfort food! My wife had tamales and street tacos that made her really happy and satisfied. The potato chorizo mole burrito was so darned good and huge! Service was very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is well kept and clean. Definitely recommend this place!

Very nice Mexican restaurant in town. They opened in 2019 (I think, according to their "4th year anniversary" sign in 2023), just before covid, but survived it. Glad they did, since we really enjoyed our food here! There is outdoor seating that looks nice, on the deck. It isn't anything spectacular, but if you're not into smelling all the oils/smoke from the fajitas etc indoors, stay outside. We had the parrillada norteña ($40) The dish is for 2, and comes in this cooking pan over a flame - but there was no flame. It was more for show. A little flame under the pan would actually have been pretty good in keeping our food warmer... but it was delicious nevertheless. The tortillas that came with the dish were corn, and lightly oiled before getting grilled (I think), and it was delicious. All the grilled steak, ribs, chicken and veggies were delicious. The cactus was interesting for first timers (me!), and not necessarily my favorite. Hubby and I each got a separate dish of rice, beans, guac, salad, etc. Overall, very tasty and enjoyable.

    Hot is to the right.

This burrito is big enough to feed a king. The salty chorizo, the sweet pineapple and the hot spice made this one of my my favorite burritos. I'll be back.

Wow wow wow! This place did not disappoint ! This is definitely authentic Mexican food! I always say you can tell if the restaurant is going to be authentic from the type of salsa they serve with the chips. This salsa was right on, not too spice and not bland. It has just the right quick of spice but allows you to keep eating more without feeling like you need to chug your water. I was able to try their Parillada which says feeds 2 people. It comes with all sorts of meats and also sea food and a side of rice, beans, guacamole, pick de gallo & salad. There is nothing to complain about this meal. Everything was cooked perfectly and was paired with corn tortillas. For drinks I tried their Piña Colada which was the perfect amount of sweetness. The star was the cantarito! If you come here order the cantarito. You will NOT be disappointed. By far it was the best cantarito I've tried. You could taste the tequila on the first sip but then you taste the grapefruit and lime. It's not boozy where you only taste the tequila but a perfect blend of all the ingredients described on the menu. The ambience was perfect but I may be biased since I was also watching the Canelo fight and it only seemed appropriate to enjoy a meal here. I love that it's a family business and was able to see a kid carefully arranging their menus and cleaning them. They have a slogan on the wall that says " Work hard & be nice to people." Our server was amazing as well. I can't stop raving about this place but the take away is just come here and enjoy authentic flavors.

Well I can say, I am ecstatic at this place! I came here for takeout and was very pleased overall. I NEED this place to stay around DeForest indefinitely! I'd give them a 4.5/5. I ordered two steak tacos with rice and beans. I found everything here to be almost perfectly seasoned! The rice and beans weren't over or under salted. The meat could've used a tad bit more seasoning but I'm not complaining here. This is where I give them a reduction of half a star. Typically on takeouts for tacos, I'd get an accompanying sauce. This is where they could improve and potentially thrive! I'm not sure if it's because I didn't ask for one but if that's the case take this with a grain of salt then. Their salsa was also fantastic. You could really taste the freshness of it and that was a great addition to my meal that I saved for later snacking. I'm very thrilled about this place and I must say, I will be returning!

I'm not sure when this place was built, but everything felt clean & new and the seating was very comfortable. The menu had a nice variety of entrees, but we were definitely disappointed that they don't offer an appetizer selection for lunch. My husband ordered the jalapeño chicken flatbread and I went with the roasted vegetable risotto with grilled chicken. We both really enjoyed our dishes and did share so we didn't have food envy. It was really kind of them to offer us a complimentary dessert when they found out today was our 25th wedding anniversary; we selected the bread pudding and it was delicious!! Other than not having apps available on the lunch menu, our only other gripe was that it took forever to get our bill and pay.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host, who we later found out was a AG Manager Dillon. He immediately made us feel welcome. After we were seated, Dillon brought us water right away and let us know that our server, Kyle, was helping a few other tables but would be over shortly to take our drink order. We really appreciated the communication, as so many restaurants leave you wondering where your server is. We had seen the Date Night menu online, which included a choice of wine. Since we don't drink alcohol, we asked if we could substitute a pitcher of iced tea instead. Dillon was happy to make that happen, which was such a thoughtful touch. We also had a wonderful conversation with him while getting settled. Seems like he has a wonderful future ahead with schooling. Always wonderful to see kind and hardworking young matured adults. Kyle soon came by with our tea, introduced himself, and took exceptional care of us throughout the evening. He made sure we were comfortable, anticipated our needs, and even surprised us with extra desserts alongside our beignets to celebrate our anniversary. His hospitality was truly top notch, and he made our evening feel special. For dinner, we ordered the etouffe and the shrimp bbq dish, and both were absolutely delicious! There were so many other menu items that caught our eye, so we'll definitely be back to try more. What impressed us most was watching the team work together. It seemed like they might have been a little short staffed, with Dillon and Kyle constantly moving throughout the dining room alongside the bartenders and kitchen staff. Despite that, they never missed a moment. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about every guest. We even overheard other tables complimenting the service and food they received. This was such a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Merchant delivered outstanding service, incredible food, and genuine hospitality from start to finish. If you're looking for a restaurant with amazing food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere, whether for dinner or drinks, Merchant is the place to go. We will be back for more soon!

I had dinner plans, so I just wanted to stop in for a drink and snack. They have some really good offers for HH and their cheese curds are half off. I had never had one, so it sounded like the perfect time to try. I got a glass of wine and the curds. They came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was a big bowl of fried cheese. They come with ranch and hot honey, and apparently they recently won best cheese curd at the cheese curd crawl. They were super tasty. Well seasoned, perfectly fried, and kind of chewy. I am not on the hot honey frenzy train, but I tried it and thought it paired well, just wasn't for me. The ranch was tasty though. Even the happy hour portion was hefty and I couldn't put down half. A little wine and cheese on a beautiful day, just makes for a good experience. They were making some pretty interesting cocktails behind the bar, and it is definitely worth coming back to try out their other options.
