What a wonderful place. The food was delicious. The service? I felt si warm and fuzzy. For a second I felt my grandma was there. Ambiance? Humble

After doing a near by attraction, I yelped the nearest traditional restaurant and this came up. This restaurant is very welcoming with its authentic Puerto Rican decor, lots of pilones. These are the objects used to do the Mofongo. The minute you walk in the place, there's a recording voice alerting the staff that someone has come in. We were prompted to sit anywhere, and were given the menus right away. Prices range from $10-$25. I decided to inquire on a lunch deal, which I was told they had. It was Mofongo with fried pork and salad $7.99 or rice and beans with fried pork for same price. We also asked for water not in a bottle(free) The food arrived pretty quick, and nice temperature. The meat was so tasty. My BF ordered the Mofongo, which he said was full of garlic and delicious. We enjoyed the food, service and decor. I asked the lady that was serving us if she was doña Rosa, but she said no, she was the one cooking. Not bad for lunch.

This is the second time we have been in this restaurant. We went the first time in 2011 with all my family while we were in Arecibo visiting the Observatory and Arecibo's Lighthouse. We had great food and great service. We went the second time a few weeks ago while vacationing in PR. Once again, great food, great service. My boyfriend got the carne frita con mofongo, he said was amazing. The pork was well cooked, flavorful and not dry. I had the chicharrones de pollo with mofongo, it was really good lots of flavor and not dry considering all was fried chicken breast. Was yummy!!! Definitely, a must go restaurant!!

Our tour guide from cueva la ventana recommended this place and I was hesitant to try it out since the reviews weren't very good. I guess you should always listen to the locals because the food was cheap and better than I thought it would be. It did take a while to get our food, but we were preoccupied with the TV, so it wasn't too bad. Believe it or not, we were a bit cold in there since we were wearing wet clothes. They have styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, which was odd since it's not a fast food place. The decor was very blah too, but I wasn't expecting much anyways. Each dish came with a side and they don't speak much English here, so be prepared to do a lot of pointing if you don't speak the language very well. We ordered shrimp salad with mofongo, the crab soup with amarillos, and garlic shrimp with tostones.

I'm not usually a huge fan of mofongo because of the texture. Luckily my Puerto Rican girlfriend was able to translate for me to tell them I like it softer, and they made it softer alright! I got it with the bistec. Wow! Super impressed. It was very flavorful and they made the texture just right. The steak was cooked well. Tostones were good as always. Service was extremely fast. I don't know why one of the reviewers below have 3 stars based on the fact that she was cold (in wet clothes) and because the silverware is plastic. Who cares? Are you coming here for the mofongo or to admire shiny silverware?

Great food! The trifongo was awesome and the lunch specials are very good. I just wished I had more time there to keep going back.

The mofongo wasn't good and the churrasco burned. Literally half of the menu was not available including deserts. Not recommended

If you are not hungry, this is the place to go. Average Mofongo, not worth to wait 1 hour for the food.

The food was ok but it takes forever, the server never came to attend us after we order the food.

The seating outside is right by the water & the scenery was honestly beautiful. You can feel the cool ocean breeze while you eat, and it made the whole experience feel calm & refreshing. It was exactly the kind of setting I needed after being out in the sun & on my feet all day. I decided to treat myself & ordered the coconut shrimp along with a whole snapper to share w/ my bf. The coconut shrimp was fresh & really flavorful. I could actually taste the light, crunchy coconut flakes in every bite which I loved. The snapper was just as impressive. It had a lot of flavor, & the texture was perfect: moist on the inside w/ a nice crisp skin on the outside. For dessert, I went w/ the guava flan. It was a bit on the heavier side, but still really delish. The guava flavor came through nicely & made for a rich, satisfying finish to the meal. The waitress was as sweet as my guava flan! Dining @ Playa Brava was a gr8 experience:good food/service, beautiful scenery,& a peaceful vibe that made it feel like the perfect reward after a long hike.

Sitting outside facing the Atlantic Ocean with the cool ocean breeze was such a beautiful and peaceful experience. The views alone made the stop worthwhile, but I was pleased with the entire experience. The service was great from start to finish. For appetizers, I ordered the Chicharrones de Pollo, which were flavorful and crispy. I also tried one of the mozzarella sticks, but it didn't have that satisfying cheese pull I was hoping for. My man ordered the shrimp mofongo and really enjoyed it, while my brother-in-law was very happy with his snapper fish. For my entree, I chose the Mofongo Relleno de Pollo, a mashed plantain mofongo topped with chicken, and it was delicious. The portion was decent and packed with flavor. For dessert I tried the guava flan. While the flavor was nice, the texture was a bit too tough for my liking. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the oceanfront views were absolutely amazing. If you're passing by the area, Playa Brava is definitely worth stopping by for a meal and a chance to enjoy the scenery.

We felt a little underdressed in our hiking clothes, this would be a great place to dress up and have a dinner out. The service was amazing- and the food was 4/5. The empanadas were DELICIOUS- definitely the highlight of our lunch. The rest of the dishes were good- the fresh caught red snapper was deep fried- which took away the experience of it being fresh. Coconut Shrimp, Salmon, Mahi Mofungo, Seafood Paella were all good- not the best ever- but the whole experience was perfect.

We were seated fairly quickly, in the inside part of the business as there were "no seats outside" - that wasn't the case. The server came promptly to take our order: @drinks - mojito, sangria, water and a soda. The sangria tasted like pouch sangria poured into a glass and the mojito had little to no rum. @Starters - marine sampler, which was greasy and overly cooked. @main dishes - paella marinera for 2, lobster tail, and stuffed mashed plantains with ceti (local fish). My overall impression of the main dishes wasn't great for the price we paid for the meal ($$$). The paella for two lacked flavor and the seafood wasn't properly cleaned (the shellfish had the poop vein); the lobster wasn't local and tasted weird; the stuffed plantains with ceti were very salty. For the latter we offered our feedback to the server and she just took the plate away, without offering any substitutions or following up. Enough to say that I'll not be coming here again. The price of the food goes beyond the quality and service. The only nice thing about the place its the view, which we got to see through a window.
