Do yourself a favor and stop at Bocaita if you're in Puerto Rico. I had the ceviche and it was my first time having a sweet ceviche with mango and honestly it was incredible. Easily better than any ceviche I've had in the DC area. The Alfredo pasta was also very good, super flavorful, but I'd recommend asking for it on a plate instead of a bowl. It comes with a lot of sauce and butter so the bowl makes it a bit much. Overall great food and definitely worth the stop. The ambiance is also very nice looking. read more

Today our food choice made the meal better. However, the service is extremely slow. The Mofongo had a nice taste, but was a little too tough and over cooked. The garlic shrimp was very good as well as the tostones. The sodas were flat and no refill was offered. It seems to be a hit or miss with this place. read more

Trying to be a fancy restaurant is not working. Service personnel need to be trained better. First on my life, I went inside to get two glasses of water that I ordered. I asked for it before I put in my order. When I saw it was on the bar he gave it to me and never said sorry for the lack of bringing it to me. My wife can not eat Gluten and asking for options is talking to a wall. Tried to get side orders but nothing worked with the waiter. What he should have done was ask someone what's available. Now if you enjoy a quality wine list then this place is perfect for drinking good wines in Vega Baja. read more

We started off our order with 2 crème brûlée espresso martinis and a live peach. The drinks were awful and the waitress initially brought out a regular espresso martini- when she mentioned bringing another crème brûlée we corrected her. My dad was also finished with his drink before my sister even received hers, super slow service. We got the empanadas and pork dumplings for the apps. Both were delicious but the dumplings (with peanut sauce) did not have peanuts listed as an ingredient, which my sister is allergic to. We should have asked but restaurants are required to list the 9 major food allergens so we don't usually have to ask. My dad and sister left immediately to get Benadryl. When we alerted the waiter, she was super unapologetic - all she said is that a hospital was around the corner. She came back 5-10 minutes later and apologized but it was extremely insincere. We decided to pack up the entrees and leave after double checking the rest of the meal was peanut free. When the waiter read off what was in the bag, she forgot one of the four entrees we ordered, the shrimp tacos. Of course, this was my sisters meal. The waitress grabbed the missing tacos and offered us a free flan (which was gross). She really should have offered to comp the meal or at the least the dumplings. The seafood linguine and shrimp tacos were delicious, but the steak risotto and fish tacos were subpar and flavorless. Warning to anyone with allergies, either do not come here or triple check the ingredients on the menu. Slow service, awful customer service, less than average food and terrible ambience. The wallpaper in particular was atrocious. I am not surprised this restaurant was dead during rush hour and will most certainly never recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

Me and my family came here one evening after a day of exploring the coast. We started with the calamari which came out fresh and was so good. We also ordered coconut Mojito's which was the best thing we had here. We got salmon and mahi-mahi with fruit sauces on top and a side of rice and beans. The beans where outstanding and well flavored. The only issue was that they were out of most of the sea food on the menu. I'm not sure if it was because it was late at night or they just had a shortage but that was slightly disappointing since we had come for sea food specifically. The place is small but clean with a crisp atmosphere. The service was excellent. For apps we had surillitos and croquettes. The croquettes were delicious. We had a variety of meals. Everything was GREAT!! We arrived in "el tiempo muerto" between lunch and dinner and we're hoping for a good meal but weren't sure. Boy what a surprise. The fried calamari were large and perfectly seasoned and cooked. FRESH!! The other appetizer was the croquetas de bacalao. WONDERFUL! My sister ordered the salmon marmoleado (sweet pimento creamy sauce: YUM!). My dad and I shared the paella that included half a lobster tail. SPECTACULAR!! The ceviche and seafood dish I had were superb, and the Pinot Grigio infinitely better than the swill at my hotel. The food was good. The music us so LOAD I had to yell at my elderly aunt across the table to be heard. The service was sub par. The waiters are aloof, seem bored & off putting. I was wondering why staff that work for tips were being such d@cks. Then when I paid my bill, I was told the tip was included. Now I understand why they are that way. Now I get it: they really don't have to show much interest bc they know Bocaìtos includes their tip in the bill. I would have never left more than a 5% tip for the service. read more

El pasado miércoles 20 del mes en curso (septiembre) visitamos dicho lugar Bocaito. Empezamos por decir que NO hubo bienvenida, solo un "vengan por aquí ". Al entrar, el aire acondicionado a penas se sentía y había un fuerte olor a pintura o químico que no era un lugar apto en ese momento para tener público. Eramos tres y por consiguiente el mesero nos llevó a sentar a una mesa para cuatro, pero el inconveniente era que uno de nosotros es una persona obesa y necesitábamos una silla que fuera fuerte. Pedimos de tomar, pero no nos sentamos hasta que el mesero regresara para solicitarle que nos cambiara de mesa para una que tenía un banco como asiento para que la persona que nos acompañaba estuviese más cómoda y segura, pero dejándole saber que esa era la razón y no que era porque queríamos esa mesa en particular. A este pedido, el mesero nos dijo: "yo los puedo acomodar en esa mesa, pero si llega un grupo de cinco personas o más LOS TENGO QUE SACAR DE LA MESA porque por eso los senté ahí en la mesa de cuatro porque ustedes son tres". Decidimos entonces solicitarle cambiar una de las sillas por otra que vimos mas fuerte por ésta ser de madera. En algún momento pasó una mesera a dar servicio a una mesa muy cerca a donde estábamos sentados y nunca nos miró, no sonreía tampoco. Uno de nosotros pidió Dorado al ajillo con tostones de pana, otra Carne frita con masposteao y la última New York steak con tostones de pana. El Dorado estaba sobre cocido, extremadamente soso, seco y No tenía sabor en nada al ajo. La carne frita estaba quemada, sosa y súper seca, y tan tostada que incluso la dejábamos caer en el plato y sonaba como si fuera una piedra. Y el New York, igualmente soso sin nada de sabor y no al término que se pidió. Ni volveremos ni Mucho menos lo recomendamos. read more

I was at the Puerto Nuevo Beach in Vega Baja, and was looking for a nice place to eat; that is when I decided to stop at Bocaito. The food and service in this restaurant turned out to be excellent, and not expensive. My group of friends were really impressed and pleased. Commencing with the appetizers (fried calamari, arancini and "croquetas de bacalao"), Soup (crema de pana con bacon), main courses ranging from skirt steaks, chicken and mahi-mahi, and dessert (orange creme brûlée), everything tasted superb and excellently cooked. We were in PR visiting family last week. Tried multiple street kiosks and local cafes, but eventually pined for a sit down with service restaurant. We found this place searching for a different location. It was a great find! The place was very pleasantly designed, the bathrooms were clean, and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious! The food was also very reasonably priced. There were six in our party. I had the Churasco steak, and a bowl of Cream of pumpkin soup. My sister had the New York Strip steak.My brother-in-law had the Dorado. My niece and nephew had super sized Cheeseburgers. And my daughter had an appetizer of Mozzarela sticks. The dinners came with a choice of sides, we all had Rice and Beans, and the burgers came with fries. The plating was beautiful. All adults (4) had frozen cocktails, and the kids had sodas. We had (4) desserts , (3) Nutella Cheesecakes, and one Creme Brulee. All entree's were to die for, and totalled only $114, a bargain! I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone searching for a good place to dine in the Vega Baja PR area. I certainly will return when I am in PR again! read more

Found this place by chance, glad we did. The food was excellent , the service was friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I had the garlic shrimp , with rice and red beans. It was excellent , also had a side order of tostones. Those were very tasty too. We came back the next day and once again the service and food were great. read more

This was a pleasant find! The food taste and presentation is superb...completly unexpected. We had the lamb ribs and the beautiful steak wrapped plantanes...on and on..do not go to puerto rico without eating here. Delicious food. The sirloin tips were amazing. The ambience outside was nice enough - though being next to a busy road is not ideal.

OMG! We found a gem driving back to San Juan from Arecibo when we found Bocaito (small bites). We found this great little restaurant side of the main road and I've never had anything this great in PR. The service, the wait staff, that Coconut Mojito, the appetizers and the food was above and beyond amazing. Ate here on our first day in PR. The food was pretty good. We had a few seafood related appetizers. I had the chicken Marsala. It was pretty good. The rice and beans were even better. My friend had a burger, he said the bun was really soggy and hard to keep the hamburger in place. My wife had a mozzarella and tomato salad, she seemed to really like it.
