As a regular who gave Tire Pros my business when they were still at Elite Smog & Auto, I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service I've received from them lately to say the least. My 2015 Chevy Malibu needed to have a check engine light diagnosed to pass smog, so of course I took it here being as I had been a regular customer for years. Myself, my mother, and my grandma all brought our cars here for years. Unfortunately this is where the great customer service ends. We were informed by Kelly that without an appointment, they would need 2-3 days to diagnose the vehicles problems. After hearing this, we made an appointment for the following week in the morning in hopes of not having to be without a car for 2-3 days and we were not offered a loaner. Fast forward to the day of the appointment; we drop the car off early morning. We call back later that same day for an update. Kelly again informs us that they will need the car for 2-3 days, even though we had an appointment. There was definitely a miscommunication somewhere because Kelly was certain she had let us know it would be 2-3 days even with an appointment, but if that were the case we wouldn't have waited to make an appointment for the following week, we would've just dropped it off immediately considering it was going to take days either way. We expressed this frustration to Kelly, which she insisted she communicated with us that it would be 2-3 days regardless. When we called back the next day to apologize for our frustration over the miscommunication, Travis, the owner answered. We know who Travis is. We have been taking our vehicles here as a family for YEARS before they were ever Tire Pros. He was extremely condescending and rude. "I don't know if you know who I am, but I'm the owner." He said. Yes, Travis, we know who you are. We have brought approximately 5 cars as a family to be serviced at YOUR SHOP over the years. My grandma has brought 2 of her own cars to be serviced at your shop, and you guys made a mistake when servicing her vehicle and caused her car to leak oil until the light came on and she had to bring it back to you guys to fix it and then you made her wait THREE HOURS to fix a mistake YOUR TECHS MADE. Anyways, Travis essentially tells us they did the oil change for the Malibu but that his smog technicians "don't know" what the check engine codes mean on our 2015 Malibu. I call BS. You all know what the codes mean. Kelly got her feelings hurt, and because she is Travis's sister, they took it personally and decided to refuse service on the vehicle and LIE TO US about "not knowing." They did not attempt to diagnose the codes and they also did not attempt to address the headlight bulb that I asked them to replace. He told me "Take it to Chevy." So they have had the car overnight and have only done an oil change. Claim they "don't know" what the engine codes mean, and refused to service the headlight. Essentially told us to take our business elsewhere. I'm not sure if Travis realized that we, as a family, have been bringing him business for at least 7-8 years with multiple vehicles. Never again. He doesn't even know who we are, are you kidding me? Ever since Dave left this place has gone downhill and quick. They still email me asking me to bring my car in for service. Guess what? I'll take it to Chevy instead so that Kelly doesn't get her feelings hurt and decide to stop working on my car because she and Travis cannot properly run a business. The cherry on top? We took the vehicle to another small business mechanic down the street and he was able to diagnose the engine codes within HOURS, giving us a price & a fix with no BS involved. Travis, if you read this, you really need to reevaluate your business. We have a Chevy Malibu, Kia Optima, Honda Accord, and Cadillac XT4 that we will never bring to your shop ever again even though we used to. You've lost 3 long term customers. If anyone else wants the name of the mechanic down the street, let me know. Prices are better, service is better, and turn around is much faster. What a shame about this place. read more

I have to say it is a relief to be able to have a reputable, honest and efficient automotive team for all of our vehicle needs. Years ago, I had positive experiences, even at their previous shop within the industry, but then with the new location within the past year, I had to add two more vehicles to our family because of teenage drivers. Of course, with older cars, everything has been needed from smog checks to tires to engine work to thermostats and old hoses...etc!! Over the summer, they were also able to entirely prep my daughter's Ford Explorer before we had to make the three day trip with her car to move her to university. I am so glad that her car is so safe since she is so far from home and has to do a lot of driving even while away at school. They always try to help and of course find the best pricing. My car wouldn't turn-over, so I called AAA, who provided a tow and recommended Elite Smog & Auto. About the same time the tow truck arrived I got a call from Dave at Elite Smog & Auto. Turns out AAA had emailed them and Dave called me to get an ETA and a preliminary diagnosis; that's when I knew this shop had customer service at the top of their priorities. Left my car at the shop and Dave called me a couple hours later with a thorough explanation of the problem and their process for verifying it was the only problem. He also noted a couple of items to keep an eye on, but not a big issue and no need for repairs at this time. My car was ready at the time Dave said it would be. Dave (Dave's not here) was a lot of help. Was having trouble finding someone to work on my old Jeep for smog, most just want to put cars on their machines and my old truck won't do that. No computer, Woohoo! Dave and Elite got the Truck in and out the next day. Turns out the oxygen sensor was broken by Midas when they did the clutch work. Was pricey but what isn't and could have been a lot worse. I'll be going back to Elite in the future and am hoping this review gets me a good discount. =) read more

I brought in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Right hand drive. Passed the smog but they said they couldn't send it to the DMV. Why?? Because it was a right hand drive. I heard the technician say he wouldn't pass it right when it went in the garage. They tried to tell me it was made in Europe. It was not. It was made in the US. told me I had to pay them then pay another person at Cuyamaca college to look at to verify. Never paid them anything. All lies. So my car was making a strange noise and the hubby took it to Travis Davison, the owner of Elite Smog and Auto, to see what it was. Travis jumped in the car with the hubs and drove it around so he could point out the sound. The technician thought it might be the suspension, which would be under warranty with Kia, so being the honest guy Travis is, he told me he COULD fix it but it would probably be under warranty, so why make me pay for it? He sent me off to Kia without charging me a penny. After FIVE days at Kia, I was told the issue was not under warranty and would cost me $282 to fix. I was like, HELL NO. I'm going back to someone I trust. So I go to pick up my car at Kia and they charged me $169 just for a diagnostic. Wth? I was livid. Anyway, the hubby took it back to Travis this morning. They fixed the issue, didn't charge me a penny, AND gave me a store credit for the total amount Kia charged me because Travis felt bad for sending me to Kia in the first place! He was just trying to save me money!! How awesome is that? Needless to say, I am blown away. I cannot thank you guys at Elite for your hard work, dedication and honesty. Nathan(owner) answered the phone right away and assured me that he would take great care of my car when the tow company brought it in (I wasn't going to be with the vehicle). Nathan called me within 1 hour of my car being towed in, and let me know he would be done shortly and quoted me a fair price for the work. There was no upselling involved and no scare tactics which I appreciate as a woman who isn't very familiar with cars and stuff.
