Please review your receipts before paying the cashiers. Our server Manuel charged us a bonus more than he should have! He charged us 87.67 when our total came out to $43.42. I took the receipt to the cashier and asked him to re total it for us. He laughed and stated that it happened to the servers all the time. He thought it was funny. The location is big and very Mexican themed. It wasn't too busy when we came. Our server wasn't very friendly he was too busy being on his phone. The horchata and Jamaica tasted like they were the powdered kind. My daughter ordered carne asada tacos and they were served on flour tortillas. She did like the taste of the meat. I had the patron burrito and it was okay. They brought chips and salsa at the beginning but the salsa is very bland. My husband's beef taquitos tasted like deep fried fish. read more

Never again. My family and I have been going there since the week they opened. Some weeks, more than once. We always had great service and great food. The food has been hit and miss the last few years but last night was the last straw. We went in with a party of 11 (not uncommon for us) and one member of our party was taking a little bit to figure out what she wanted to eat. Instead of walking away, our server stood over her and practically yelled at her to hurry up and order something. She asked if somethign was spicy and he said "No, nothing spicy, you need to hurry up and order." Secondly, Taco Salad was the special for $7.99, I ordered one but with steak. I knew there would be an upcharge but when we got our bill the upcharge ended up being $5.00 for 3 little pieces of steak and a basically a bowl of bell peppers. The food was terrible, the server was rude, and our family will stop going to what was once a great restaurant in Camdenton. read more

This place is great have a good authentic MEXICAN FOOD not Tex mex, service was great, very attentive staff, good food, variety of choices, they don't play about you drinks that margarita was perfect. First off what a spectacular establishment. Reviews don't alway pan out as you would expect but this place delivers. Customer service was top notch, drinks and chips were always full. I really wish it wasn't 12 hours from my house but it would be worth the drive. The chips are crispy and the salsa was really good. Not really spicy so it could be enjoyed by everyone. Had to get some queso and was not disappointed, smooth and creamy hit the spot. The Ranchero Enchiladas were amazing, 2 cheese enchiladas topped with enchilada sauce and pork. Served with rice and guacamole salad. 8/10 The three chimichangas were equally awesome. Each had a different sauce, queso, enchilada, and a creamy verde sauce were the toppers. Served with rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole salad. 7.5/10 To finish it off was the Fajitas Jalisco Marinated tender strips of steak, chicken and shrimp accompanied with onions and peppers. Served with rice, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole salad, and homemade tortillas. 9/10 I will definitely be back , that is for certain. We grabbed takeout from el caporal during our stay in Camdenton. We called in our order, and then headed to pick it up. It was ready really quick- it only took about 10 minutes. No one was wearing masks. The food was ok. We got the steak fajitas and the enchiladas mexicanas. The steak fajitas were over cooked. The cheese enchiladas was delicious, and the other two were just ok. I would probably try a different Mexican place before going back. read more

We've been to El Caporal several times now and stopped in for lunch again yesterday. I don't think I've had anything here that wasn't excellent, although I've mostly stuck with the standard tostadas, tacos and chile rellenos. It's a pretty crowded place usually, so keep this in mind if you want to pop in on a Saturday night. The servers here are pretty friendly and really hustle. Food comes out in a flash. They're not really close to our place, so we don't stop by very often. Yesterday it took forever to take our order and I seem to recall that happening once before. Definitely give it a try if you like Mexican. read more

You really can't go wrong here. If you're looking for yummy AND quick right off the highway, this is the place for you. Most of the staff hardly speaks English so don't plan a long conversation with them. The place is clean, the food is fast, the staff is friendly, the location is convenient, and the food is good. Like I said, you really can't go wrong. I've been here with big groups and I've been here with small groups and every time, the service is on point. Chips so thin you can see threw. Margaritas so poorly done tastes like a premix. Beef tacos so bad Taco Bell tastes better. In positive reviews the verde sauce was great. I would not go back. You have some rude a$$ followers. read more

For starters, you should know that we're very tough graders. We were driving through Camdenton and found this place on Yelp. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. The chips and salsa were very good and the hot cheese dip (queso for those from Tex Mex country) was excellent. It was a white cheese and nicely spicy. The beef enchiladas were great. (Rice and beans very good on the side.) The fajitas were just average at best, though. Kids tacos got good reviews. So, if you're in the Lake of the Ozarks area and are craving Mexican food ... This restaurant was suggested to us by a member of the housekeeping staff at our hotel and overall, we were pleased with it. While it's not authentic Mexican food, for what it is, it's pretty darn good. Portion sizes are huge. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla which was chock-full of grilled shrimp and pretty filling. The hubby enjoyed his shrimp tacos and he also had a strawberry margarita and couldn't stop raving about how his drink had plenty of alcohol in it. Good thing I was driving! Our server was a bit hard to understand because he seemed to have a bit of a mumbling problem, but the food arrived quickly and was piping hot when it arrived. read more
