Do you want to make your mouth happy? Ever have dreams about street tacos? Well, this is the place that will do both! There are so many fancy looking restaurants here at the Lake of The Ozarks, La Tapatia is easy not to notice. It's a tiny brown building, flanked by a bar and boat dealer, with a four table dining room and a couple of picnic tables. Pass it by. We ordered steak tacos. All were filled to the brim with flavorful meat and fresh onion and cilantro, flamed with some limes. Give those limes a squeeze and enjoy. In the past we have ordered other menu items and they are just as tasty. The service is great, sometimes limited English, but our orders have never been wrong. You order at a counter and it is brought to you with their red and green sauces. Wash it all down with a Fanta, or mango drink. Fortunately, I work close by, so my next visit will be sooner than later. read more

Seating is very limited, but there is a good outdoor seating area if the weather is nice. Service is very prompt - not overly friendly, but not rude either. My carne asada tacos were pretty good - my only complaint is that the meat was slightly crunchy and the tacos had sort of a Philly cheesecake meat taste to it that some may love, but I didn't particularly care for. Overall, not a bad little place. I would go back and maybe try something different next time. read more

I'm going all the way.... La Tapatia was the best taqueria experience and food I've had outside of living in Chicago. Plain and simple, this little spot was a delight. I had four tacos - Asada, Al Pastor, lingua, and chorizo as well as a side of beans and rice. Shout it from the rooftops.... If you like authentic street style tacos, then You'll find this place and return again and again. Prices were around $3 a taco with the Lingua being $4 and the chorizo being $2. The tacos; The Asada was grilled chopped fine and a little crispy and salty, served with white onion and cilantro. So good. The Al Pastor was savory and juicy, with chunks of onion and pineapple served on grilled tortillas. The Chorizo was a little spicy (it could have been been hotter) with those faint hits of vinegar. I love it. The Lingua!! Oh man, if you like lingua then buckle up. This is as good as it gets. The texture was like slow roast beef roast, salted, maybe with a bit of coriander, white onion and cilantro. Yum!! The inside: This is a small walk up counter with no frills. There are three tables inside and when I got there, it was packed to the brim. Dont be a Missouri gringo and order the ground beef. Go for one of the other amazing and authentic tacos. Your tastebuds will be thrilled. I don't give 5 - Stars but this one has it all except a larger dining area. I'm going back. read more

Mexican born, this is TOP 5 Mexican spots I have ever been to in my life. TACOS AL PASTOR are the winner. Staff is super friendly and helpful! We always eat here when in Osage Beach. Just as a heads up the restaurant is very tiny with 3 tables inside that seat 4/4/2. If you have a larger party I would recommend takeout or be prepared to sit separately. VERY small location and easy to miss if you aren't diligently looking. Also easy to pull into the wrong business and parking can be a challenge. The food was 5-stars, at least for what I ordered. The tacos were delicious and the burrito was very good. Be aware that the burritos are more 'dinner style' (i.e. covered in a sauce with guacamole and salsa beside it) than 'street style' (wrapped in foil). Service was quick and friendly. Dinged a star for the lack of descriptions of the food and the location/parking situation. However, would highly recommend for the food. If you are wondering about the sauces...the red is very hot/spicy and the green is very mild, so ask for/use accordingly. (and this is coming from someone who can't get it hot enough). I'll be getting a lot of red the next visit, and it's definitely worth a return visit (or 2). read more

Stopped by for tacos and I'm so glad I did. There's only 3 tables inside so I opted for take out. The tacos were so flavorful and the tortillas were soft but didn't break apart as I was eating them (huge plus!!). The green salsa added a freshness to the tacos. I also got chips and salsa! The salsa was homemade and chunky. They seasoned it just right and I'm just made I didn't get more tacos to each with the salsa! Definitely stop by if you are in the area! read more

Amazing food. Was searching for tacos/authentic Mexican and it was definitely here. Tiny place, easy to miss when driving by but worth stopping at. The staff was all very nice and helpful and the food was outstanding. We got the steak quesadilla lunch special that comes with the rice and beans (I forgot to take a pic) but it was huge and overloaded with meat! Such an amazing deal for the price, plus it was delicious. We also got shrimp tacos (pictured) and they were outstanding. So flavorful and also stuffed full. They were not skimping on the goods. They came with a super hot hot sauce and amazingly tasty salsa verde. We also got a side of chips and queso, also really delicious because how can you go wrong with chips and queso?!? Absolutely delicious food. Not your typical Tex-Mex but that's a good thing! We walked in, ordered carry out and food was done within minutes. I had 4 different tacos- meat was tender and flavorful. Served with onions/cilantro, green salsa and hot salsa on the side. My wife had a chicken quesadilla which was delicious as well. I'm thinking this may have been the best Mexican food I've ever had. Even though my favorite style uses grilled pineapple on the taco, this rendition with pico was also very savory. There were five in my group and we took up half the seating in this little taco stand. We were treated so kindly and all the food I sampled from my kids' plates was superb. We also sampled a full array of Mexican soft drinks from cane sugar sprite to non-alcoholic sangria. the quesadilla is like a Gordita, think your mom from Mexico made from scratch a puffy Gordita shell, with juicy fresh chicken overflowing, add fresh tomatoes & extra white melted cheese! the guacamole is on point! dip the deliciousness of the quesadilla in and you will be speechless. unbelievably good and fresh. Best taco I've ever had. Chorizo street taco. Chips and salsa. The salsa is almost watery thin, however, it is full of spices and cilantro. Homemade, heavy chips. You're gonna make a mess, but a delicious mess. And you're gonna need those chips to scoop up the toppings that fall out of your taco. There's 3 tables inside. 2 tables outside. And they deliver to the bar next door. My taco was crammed full of spicy chorizo, cilantro, and onion. I squeezed the lime they give you over the top and I asked for the hottest hot sauce they had. He gave me green and an orange letting me know they were mild and hot respectively. Great flavor, salty, and the orange was respectable. This is the real deal Mexican street food. read more
