Okay, they're redeemed themselves and this humble joint has become a favorite. It's not the most authentic but it's tasty, well made and the service is good. Do NOT order the chiles rellenos, we've tried 3x but they're less than one star. They have a full bar and decent table service, Erica is always pleasant and quick. Ambiance is your typical Mexican restaurant, but as we drove by a large Mexican work crew was coming for lunch, which always intrigues me, so in went! Quickly greeted and seated and given an overwhelming large menu that was extremely overpriced. The least expensive thing for lunch was 12 dollars with nothing that I would consider quick and easy. I was extremely disappointed with the menu because at the end I honestly didn't find a single thing that I would order. Luckily on the way in we say a sign that said street tacos and listed all available which this is what we were hungry for. Both the wife and I ordered asada, carnitas, al pastor tacos and they were delicious and nice sized! Very quality street tacos with two nice salsas a green and red in squeeze bottles which I think are nice. Service we are going to give them a pass since they got slammed with 25-30 people all at once. I think the menu needs some attention and I think you would be best to play on the strengths of real Mexican fare and move away the the Americanized menu. read more

La Costenita is a new Mexican restaurant in Osage Beach, near the corner of KK and Bus. 54. We checked it out Monday night along with pretty much nobody else. The menu indicates it is owned by the same people as Tacqueria La Tapatia, which we enjoyed but never frequented due to the lack of liquor license. We tried the street tacos (not on the menu) and Carne Asada. It was all very tasty, as was the salsa and chips. The menu is NOT your standard Mexican-American type menu, Lots of things I've never seen before and I'm a reouned Mexican food junkie. It's a nice clean place - better than we expected from the outside. Service was very attentive and friendly, We'll be back for sure. read more

We were lost roaming the ozarks at night in the middle of February trying to find a place to eat. This place was a great little hole in the wall kind of Mexican place, the drinks were really yummy and the food was pretty good. The food wasn't the best Mexican I've ever had but I really liked everything else about the place we will definitely be back. The fajitas Del Mar (I believe that's what I ordered) were really good. I just have to suggest one thing. Order the tlayudas! They are HUGE. They are DELICIOUS. I seriously only ever order tlayuda. They're not cheap but you can't eat it for 2 meals. I have tried other items on the menu and they're good, but this is my favorite! read more

I would rate the food very high, but on my last visit, I ordered a combo plate that included a Chile relleno. I tried several times to cut through it, but the chili was as tough as leather and inedible. At the conclusion of the meal, I pointed it out to the server, who took the plate back to the kitchen. The manager then came out to tell me that it definitely was too tough to eat and said it must have had something to do with the high volume of Chile Relleno orders that day. Maybe he meant they just stuffed the raw Chile without blistering the skin, but one would have thought they would have discounted the meal because half of it could not be eaten. I was very surprised when the check arrived and no discount was given. I am still trying to decide whether I will ever return because of their lack of public consciousness. read more

The food was not great. The salsa was so hot you could barely eat it. The margaritas were not good (regular, lime on the rocks) and the chips were so thick they were like fried naan.. I do not recommend this restaurant. There's so much room for improvement. I love Mexican food, but this was not worth the money I paid or the let down. read more

For central Missouri it's as authentic as it gets. It's Oaxacan Mexican so it's a little different. A lot of flavors from the region--spicy. Try the Mocahette but you better be hungry. Lalo the owner will take good care of you. Jefe. read more

If you're not a local do not trust the high rating on this. If you enjoy tooth breaking chips with wacky tasting salsa then this is your place. Beans were like water with some fake cheese on them. We were there for a normal amount of time and didn't get a single refill even though our drinks were empty as she passed by MULTIPLE times. read more

Been here several times and again last night with my wife, they are without a doubt the best fajitas I have ever had, very friendly bar tender and although the waitress did not speak much English (but we were in a Mexican restaurant) she was also very friendly, also prices very reasonable, if you pass by this place you are missing out, I would give more stars but five is the max. read more
