Two enchiladas (beef) and two tacos combination
    Tiffany O.

This restaurant felt very average for a Mexican place. We were seated by the doorway to the kitchen, but the restaurant was less than half full. The chips were on the bigger side, and the salsa had big chunks of onions. That was fine, since at least they had onions in their salsa. We got the combination with two beef enchiladas and two tacos. The menu doesn't say what meat the tacos will be (beef) and that they'd be hard shell tacos, and I didn't think to ask. The beef in both the tacos and enchiladas was kind of soggy. It was especially goopy in the enchiladas, but edible. If I had known the tacos were going to be hard shell beef tacos, I would have ordered chicken enchiladas.

What can I say about El Caporal?!? I think my hubby would choose to eat here everyday if he could! He calls it, "home away from home!". I'm Irish, Mexican food is not really my thing, but I can always find something good at El Cap, and they always remember my ketchup. They also remember that I'm allergic to cilantro. The service as always was top notch, and we are always greeted like we are family! Zandra, who is usually our server, always takes special care of us! As usual the food hit the spot! He had a burrito with rice and beans, and I had a taco salad with beef, Nortena style! The music is always at the perfect level and it is always authentic Mexican music! You always feel like you have stepped into another place, instead of downtown Cle Elum! This time of year is especially fun with their very special Christmas Tree!

    Three enchilada plate

I visited on a Friday night and was seated promptly, and given water/chips and salsa within minutes. I ordered the three enchiladas plate with one chicken, one cheese, and one beef enchilada. The plate came out in less than 10 minutes! I really enjoyed everything about the meal and finished pretty much everything on the plate. The enchilada sauce is what made it 5 stars along with the excellent service. Definitely stopping by if I'm in town again.

    Beef Fajitas

It was ok. Not the best or worse I have had. They must be short staffed because they didn't refill our chips or drinks. The entrees came out fast. The fajitas were good but the fresh lettuce and pico was sparing while there was a lot of sour cream. The enchilada suiza was good but I expected two, not one. Rice and beans were average. Employees were nice but it was pretty hot in there. Decor was very busy and the men's room had a condom machine!

I drove to the past to play in the snow and I always drive another half hour to come to this Mexican restaurant. I don't know how long this place has been in business but the service is good. The food is always good. It's like old Mexico. Next time I come across the pass, I will eat here again

    Yummy.

Food was very tasty. It wasn't busy and our server was attentive without being overbearing. Will go again.

Very nice authentic family run Mexican food joint in a small town. The salsa and guac was very good as was the service. I got steak fajitas which were fairly standard but good. The service was just fine and they were quick to refill our water which is always a nice touch. Inside decor was really cool. Really takes you away to a town in Mexico.

Was in the area and this place was highly recommended by the locals and it did not disappoint. They have a large menu of items to pick from and the owners have their own recommendations as well. I created my own burrito with fish and wanted very selective items on there. After few tequila shots of course everything sounded delicious. Burrito did not disappoint. The perfect amount of spices and very flavorful. They have a good bar option as well and well Make very stiff drinks. Worth the money you spend here. Place is very clean and take all the Covid precautions.

It was a good amount of food. The second visit we ordered nachos and tamales. The nachos are quite yummy and very heavy. Two of us could not finish them. There were enough leftover toppings for another serving of nachos in our own chips the next day. We had to get the tamales to go bc we had no room left in our bellies. Fried tamales were unexpected! We tried one bite and I think they'll be pretty good. I did want the lighter experience of a regular tamale tho.

Additionally, the room is set up so that everyone turns to look at you when you come in. This would not be so bad if you were greeted as a welcome guest. However, that is NOT what it's like! In fact, the wait staff was aloof almost to the point of being rude. We felt like we had crashed someone else's party and we weren't welcome! The food itself was not worth the money. We had the Parmesan garlic wings, and some potato dish, and the tamales, The wings were ok - nothing to write home about tho - but the potatoes, they were dry and a bit burn flavoured, and definitely not worth the price! The tamales were edible, but the refried beans and Spanish rice were awful (himself NEVER leaves food and he left this). I got a margarita and it was horrible too (how do you get a margarita wrong!) We felt like we had been robbed by the time we left! As for the tables and chairs, the table was wobbly and the chairs were so miserable to sit in, it was clear they didn't want you to stay long. Lastly, it was cold in the restaurant in general. Not an experience we want to have again!!

We noticed this Mexican Restaurant was open till 9p so we decided to eat here. It was a busy weekend night. This place had outside seating as well. We found 1 empty table right when you stepped in. Our server was amazing! My husband and I were going to split an entree. My husband's go-to is always an asada burrito. However, I asked for a suggestion. Our server recommended the Molcujete to split. Really it was the price of 2 entrees at $33 but was thinking that we needed to try something completely different and this was it. My daughter and mother split the enchiladas with rice and beans. The food took a long time however our server made sure we were kept in the loop, apologized and gave us more chips and salsa rather than ignore us. The molcujete was so different. In a pot with all the different meats, veggies and cheese along with tortillas. I liked it at a 4.5 out of 5. However, my husband didn't like it as much giving it a 4 out of 5. My daughter & mother loved the enchiladas giving it a 5 out of 5. The churro dessert was amazing. Carry cash because this place does charge a service fee for using a credit card. I think this place would have been more like a 4.5 star if they didn't do that. In the past, that was the cost of doing business was accepting credit cards to get more business but now instead of adjusting pricing on their food businesses is adding it.

Upon arriving to collect my food, I discovered the front door was locked, which was unexpected and confusing since there was no notice or signage indicating any change in procedure. I tried to contact the establishment by phone but only encountered a busy dial tone. After waiting for 20 minutes, I finally managed to reach a representative at the restaurant via phone. Unfortunately, their response was unprofessional and difficult to understand, as they spoke broken English. I was informed that the front door was closed and that I needed to use the drive-through to collect my order. This was surprising, as I had placed an "online order" and did not realize that the drive-through was the only option for pick-up. There was no sign or communication indicating this process for the evening. When I requested a refund due to the inconvenience and confusion, the representative refused and explained that they could not assist me further. I also asked to speak to a manager, but was told that the representative was the only person working. Given these circumstances, I feel compelled to discontinue visiting this location, despite having been a loyal customer who frequented it at least once a week. My credit card was charged $52.42 for an order I was unable to collect. I have tried contacting your main headquarters a few times now to request a refund and all communication goes unanswered. I hope this business chain takes these concerns seriously !
