The Brick Saloon in Roslyn is truly a foundational restaurant in town, especially at a time when many others are struggling. We stopped in during a very busy Christmas season and were still seated quickly, with attentive service almost immediately. The ambiance has a great rustic buzz, highlighted by the wood-fired stove and its impressive piping system that greets you as you walk in. The food didn't disappoint, perfect smaller portions for a late lunch before dinner. The fish & chips hit the spot, as well as the pulled pork sandwich that we all shared. Came here with the fam while staying in Suncadia. We had absolutely phenomenal service!! Such a great spot and so cool knowing it's the oldest bar in WA state! We started with the special, hand basted cheese curds, delicious! Wife got the chicken bacon ranch and said it was delicious. I got the Rueben and it was awesome, one of the best I've had. Love the vibe and history of the restaurant. The service was spot on. Multiple people came by to make sure we had drinks and that we didn't need anything. The brisket quesadillas threw me for a loop when they came to the table because they looked like tacos. My server answered my question before I could even ask. Even though they are served upright, since the cheese is melted, they are considered a quesadilla. I don't care what shape they come in, they were incredibly delicious. We ordered the fish and chips with mozzarella sticks the food was great and had some nice conversation with the bartenders. It was cozy and warm in there with lots of seating. We were a party of 15. They have a policy of combining bills of three couples. When we received our three bills, they were all wrong! It took 10 minutes to get the bills correct. One of the spots we were most excited to check out during our trip to Roslyn was The Brick Saloon--a local treasure that's been around since 1886. It's full of historic charm and the staff couldn't have been nicer. There were seven of us for lunch, and even with a group that size, we only had a brief five-minute wait. The day was warm, but we lucked out with seating downstairs next to a fan--definitely a welcome escape from the heat. We ordered three appetizers to share since the two little ones weren't all that hungry: crispy onion rings, gooey mozzarella sticks, and tangy fried pickles hit the spot. For mains, I went with the fish tacos, my daughter had shrimp tacos, and my other daughter ordered the shrimp basket. The older grandkids chose wings and a BBQ pulled pork sandwich. We all kept it simple with water to drink. The food? Absolutely delicious--every single one of us was happy, and not a single complaint in sight. If you find yourself in the area, The Brick Saloon is definitely worth a visit. I forgot to snap pictures of everyone's plates, though I did manage a few. Awesome burgers! I can't believe some folks haven't visited Rosalyn. If you haven't then you need to come visit the Brick Saloon, the oldest saloon in Washington and some of the best burgers too. We ordered a bunch of food and everything was top-notch, plus a good selection of beer large selection of whiskey and the service was great. Plus the bar was extremely old and ornate . To be honest, this place was quite a let down. We stopped in based on the stellar reviews on both food and service. I am sad to say that neither met our expectations. The (seating) wait: Upon arrival there was a line to the door with no one there to speak with. There were signs that said please wait to be seated. Everyone was just standing there unsure of when/how we'd be seated. Eventually someone walking out suggested we just seat ourselves. We walked around and selected a table and asked a nearby server to seat us there. Not sure how the groups before us fared. The (food) wait: Our server mentioned there would be a (~35min) wait for our orders and suggested getting an appetizer first that would come much sooner. We agreed and ordered an appetizer. The app took over 40 mins, and the food took another 25 mins. Overall the wait was more than hour and significantly more than what was said. The food: Everyone's meal was cold and subpar. It tasted as if it was made an hour ago. There were also quite a few mistakes of changes that never made it to the kitchen. The servers did do their best to correct this for us, but was still a let down after waiting an hour for cold, incorrect orders. The place: the restaurant itself was a cool and lively vibe and it seems they have live music on the weekends which is cool. No complaints there. Overall, would recommend trying out another place unless the live music is a deal breaker. We probably won't be coming back. read more

The Brick is an absolute must when in town. Everything about it - the ambience, the food, the music - yes please to all of it! Whether you stop in during the day for lunch or at night for some beers and live music - you can't go wrong. The service is fast, the bartenders and staff are friendly, and everything is reasonably priced. The food is exactly what you'd hope for in a tavern and it's always a good time. I've tried almost everything and am always satisfied. There's also something about the location and the building itself - you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's pretty awesome. The good? Cool place. The not so good? Well, pretty hefty prices. Nothing particularly special about the food. Server gave our group a hard time about separate bills. Said it was their policy. Brought it up several times warning us that they are just too busy and don't ask next time. No reason to take a hard stance like that. Even though she ultimately did give our table 5 bills, they still added the gratuity. Not a problem but she would have probably done better tip wise had she not been unfriendly. Just my opinion. We were confused about which drinks to try so the waiter gave us some sample draft beer. To my wow "Mac and Jack Africa Amber Ale" was really a discovery. The food here is above average but not what I would call amazing. I ordered a Cicely Chicken Sandwich with an onion ring as a side. Both were very average. Their menu is a lie. Shows vegetarian and vegan options. But everything at this place is made using tallow oil (beef). We clearly said that we are vegetarians and vegans while ordering. They served us "vegetarian" and "vegan" burgers. When asked about the oil used (since one of us has nut allergy), she said they recently switched from oil to tallow oil. read more

Next, when it's time for bills, a 20% tips was slapped into the bill automatically. We did not examine the bill and gave a 15% tips. I only found out when I returned home to look through bill. The Brick is the quintessential saloon in the PNW. Steep stairs lead to the entrance, where you're greeted with the backdrop of a huge wooden bar and a bustling of activity, no matter the day or the time. Look closely and you'll even see the spitoon under the bar with running water from one end to the other. These days, no one is spitting in the water but if you're not careful you could drop your keys or phone in there! The food is consistently good. It's a saloon so expect a lot of deep-fried goodness. Their onion rings and fries are awesome. The Reuben and burgers are also top-notch. They also have an above average selection of good beers from the area, and cocktails and wine as well. This place was more like a 4.5 rating. If you are a Northern Exposure fan, this place is a must go to place. You walk in and the historic bar is beautiful. I wish the barstools were still there but unfortunately those were removed. We sat down at a bench table and was given menus right away by the bartender who happened to be our server. He was awesome, friendly and attentive. My husband tried an IPA from Leavenworth called Bootjack I believe and liked it enough to have another, lol. We still had 4 hours of driving so we decided to split our entrees as to not have leftovers. My husband and mother split the fried cod and chips. My daughter and I are more on a keto diet and decided to split the southwest salad minus a couple of things. Our food took about 20 minutes to arrive. While waiting my daughter and husband played some pool. Food arrived and it was real good. The salad was a nice portion and perfect for splitting. We were bright an extra plate when our salad was delivered. We were satisfied and didn't leave hungry. My mom wasn't that hungry but my husband said the cod was pretty good as well. We came in for dinner around 7pm. The place was pretty full and it appeared that only one server was working. We should have known then to leave but didn't want to drive into Cle Elum. Our service was pretty terrible. We barely saw our server and had to ask to get refills. She was not real kind and seemed annoyed at times. It took almost an hour to get our food after ordering. Once the food came, it was decent but nothing to write home about. The prices were on the high end. Also, there was no air conditioning so it was SWELTERING hot in the place. I took our AuPair from France to the oldest tavern in Washington hoping to have fun and watch some college football. They wouldn't change the channel from an infomercial claiming they hire someone to preprogram their televisions and are unable to change the channel. (What?!). We have been going here for years and last night was the last time. Food was not great overall. Two Rueben sandwiches both were chewy. Fish and chips were in the fryer way too long. Service was just ok and my wife got the wrong meal. Drinks from the bar ordered when food was delivered was finally brought to the table after the bill had already been paid. Also, I was charged for a few drinks that were never even ordered by our table. Whoever enjoyed the Wet Kitty and The Fennel Countdown that I paid for, you're welcome. I wish I had realized before I paid for dinner but there were 9 of us and the receipt was very long with all the line items of up charges for everything it seemed. Big regrets coming here, huge. Yes, it's old and it's famous, but that's probably its only redeeming quality. We popped in here for dinner (in the family section) after seeing lines of people here the day before and numerous yelp reviews where people raved about their burgers. My questions to these people: Did we eat the same thing? Have you had a good burger and fries? I've literally had better burgers at McDonald's or Red Robin. The 'beef' patty on the brick burger was questionable at best and seriously thin. It also arrived so cold that the cheese had started to congeal, with a couple slices of raw jalapeños tossed in there as an afterthought. We upgraded to onion rings, which were greasy and very heavy on the batter. Since it was Taco Tuesday, we also ordered a few of the beef and shrimp tacos, which were equally terrible. The $1 beef tacos had a weird smell. I managed to choke down one bite and couldn't do any more. The shrimp tacos were piddly, with about 3 small shrimp and tons of lettuce. We were also nickel and dimed for extras. We ordered a side of guac and sour cream, but they delivered 1 guac and two picos, which we were charged for. Wtf? Oh, and don't forget the flies! Nothing puts more of a damper on terrible food than a million flies buzzing around your face while trying to eat. Majority of staff were also not wearing masks. TL;DR - The food is atrocious here. It's a historic building that offered good bar food. We ordered the Fire Burger sub meat for plant based patty. The burger hit the spot, I got the shebang of flavors in my mouth with each bite! The rosemary shoestring fries were on point! I'd go back for those alone! We added a side of onion rings, because who doesn't love a good onion ring. These definitely did not disappoint. They were crunchy and the entire onion didn't pull out on the first bite. My only disappointment was the cocktails. Too sweet and unable to recognize the liquor and not chilled, no one likes drinking a warm cocktail, especially on a 95' day. Fun historical spot in the town of Roslyn. Easily accommodated our large group and the service was spot on. Parking can be a little tricky is this area if it's busy but there's plenty in of street parking in the neighborhood. The food and drinks overall were tasty. Local brews on tap Bloody Mary on point Menu with plenty of options to please most diet types. I do with they severed breakfast though! The onion rings hit the spot, perfectly battered and fresh.
