We went for the Tuesday night fajitas for 2 for the price of one and they have only gotten better. They have remodeled.The beef fajita have a really good taste. You get a plate of rice and beans for each along with 2 setups with sour cream, guacamole, pico and cheese. It is a huge amount of food. My wife and I both get full and we have enough for 1 more meal at home. The restaurant is clean and well lite. Not too noisy unless it is packed. Our service was good and the waitress was attentive and we were a party of 10. $37 out the door for the special with 2 fountain drinks and 22% tip. One of the best deals in town. I used to like this place. I don't know what changed, but I feel like the staff doesn't really care anymore. I stopped getting actual mexican food due to the spices. The new spices mess with my stomach. So, I started getting the American food and now they are messing that up. The staff was mad when I would point something out. Excellent service + really good food + affordable prices = returning customers! We were in Granbury to run an errand and needed to kill time. Because CVS was on our agenda, we looked for a non-chain restaurant nearby and found El Chico. What a gem!! Its at the end of a strip mall so there is plenty of parking and easy in/out. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in the door and were then greeted by our server Cristian right away. Cristian was super friendly and attentive - he never left us hanging and our lunch was top notch. We enjoyed Tex Mex for 2 for only $24. We got an appetizer to share, 2 entrees and a dessert to share. Everything was flavorful and delicious! El Chico is a total gem and we'll be back. read more

I'm usually not one to vote for the chain restaurants, but I have to say this El Chico is pretty worth it. They have a great bar with nice staff that take good care of me when I want to go in and have a quick drink while waiting for it to go order. I've been in a few times that they've been swamped and found the bar less than clean, but from my years of experience of bartending that happens when you're busy! They seem to keep a pretty steady crowd in there, and the menu is good. Solid all around Mexican spot. read more

We made our selections from the lunch menu. I had the lunch fajitas combo. The chicken was good, but the beef was outstanding! Very moist and tender. My husband got the Uno, which he said was ok. We have lunch every Sunday, the staff always have a table for us and the food is excellent good plain country Mexican style. Proprietor is slowing repairing old building issues but it's a great atmosphere with fun Mexican charm and music. Hot plates, and quick service, good guacamole and the tortilla soup is thick and full of chicken, tortilla strips, and a rich hot broth poured on at the table. A plus! read more

First time ever writing a yelp review. I just left the restaurant and was very disappointed. The chicken for my chicken fajitas was very bland... no seasoning. When I got my bill it was charged with an extra entree for another $10. After they fixed that bill I received my second one with the wrong entree uncharging me an extra few dollars. We have gone twice this week. Yumm yumm I ordered the salmon chimichurri both times Oh my so so good. The portion of salmon was small but so very tasty. Hubs ordered chicken fajitas , grandson ordered chicken fajita bowl. Ordered ordered chicken enchiladas. I tried those they were very good. Service was good, chips n salsa are good too. I wish the salmon portion was a tad bigger. Mu husband's fajitas were also small portion. That would be the only thing needing improvement. read more

When you first pull up into the restaurant looks like your normal cafe. Inside the restaurant has plenty of seating and spaces if you have a big party and visiting. Walking into the restaurant it's a nice vibe not too many people. Cara was an awesome waitress, very polite and relatable. Caring and sweet. The service was quick and delicious. For an appetizer I got the top shelf guacamole and the top shelf queso. The queso has ground beef in it. Top shelf guacamole has was made in front of us and made fast it has tomato, jalapeño, avocado, and cilantro I believe. Both were a nice subtle spicy with fresh taste. My taco salad had rice and beans on the bottom of the corn. I chose chicken for my protein which is a chunky cut, soft and tender. We also got the brisket enchiladas nice and tender pulled apart beautifully nice crunchy onion. For dessert we got the apple pie, the sopaipilla, and sundae brownies. The sopaipilla was doughy and fluffy the brownie tasted good but the bourbon butter was over powering overall it is delectable but I would ask for it on the side. The apple pie had a sugar and cinnamon top and the middle had apples but the apple pieces were mushy and the cinnamon ice cream was absolutely fantastic by its self. I thought this place was great all in all. We will be coming back again next year. read more

Well Dad and I were looking for someplace new to try, and our first choice was closed on Sunday, so we hit El Chico's instead. As soon as I sat down I thought, "Oh crap, this is a chain." Not sure why it did not dawn on me sooner (I try to avoid chains, preferring locally owned options instead). So obligatory chips and salsa: OK, nothing special. Kudos for individual salsa bowls though (unless I'm dining with my wife, not having my own bowl kinda grosses me out). Looking over the menu the chili relleno enchilada catches my eye... I'm a fan of both enchiladas and rellenos (my benchmark dish), so this is the route I take. Dad goes for some tamale dish. While we are waiting for our food, dad and I both have the same question... Where's the seafood? The sign out front (I'll get the picture up shortly) clearly says seafood and steak... While there are a few steak-like items on the menu, the seafood is really pushing it. Does a couple of shrimp dishes constitute seafood? Oh well. Food arrives. It's ho hum. Not sure why it did not occur to me, but wrapping a tortilla around a chili relleno is really not much of a dish. It was OK, but not something I'd ever order again. Dad had similar thoughts about his tamales. Bottom line: We'll stick the locally owned options. Oh, but if you do come for lunch on Sunday, bring your church bulletin as it will net you 20% off on your bill... I wonder if that includes adult drinks? I kinda like the irony of that. read more

One star because first impressions is everything. First off service is good. Not a problem at all. When you open the door the smell of an old locker room hits you in the face. Mildew and dirty socks. We recently moved back to Granbury, and couldn't wait to eat at El Chicos again! We decided to go after church, and I am glad we did! The food was EXCELLENT! Our server was the best! Her name was Holly and I didn't see her stop moving for 2 seconds. They were very busy, and she handled it better than I could have imagined!
