Louisiana has law making restaurants post whether their seafoods are from Louisiana, or "imported". This somehow misses the customer's point; we are fine with seafoods from other states', as their products are from our own Gulf of American/Mexico, just not from the far east. The ceviche de camarrones here is not up to either Yucatan/Quintana Roo/Tamaulipas standards, nor our local quality. Other dishes we've tried are good to very good. Her beans and rice were good. The only bright spot was my lady's meal... an ala Carte bean burrito and a side of guacamole. The burrito was a tortilla, some refried beans and what seemed to be a queso fresco sauce. It was good. The guac was good. So, bottom line, it was a bad experience because the food was unrecognizable as what it was supposed to be. This was my exact complaint when Mi Tio had its grand opening. My Spanish speaking servers, assured me, in Spanish, I should give them another chance after the grand opening. Here we are years later dropping $65 for pitiful food and only fair drinks, barely even Mexican style. Not good. Not recommended. And definitely not real Mexican food. All I know is for some crazy authentic Mexican dishes that are more than just the tacos at the other spots you have to try this place. Her camarones and the fried avacodes are awesome. The tortilla soup is exactly as I have had in Mexico at various vendors. It is spot on. And we'll the service here, Doris herself comes to visit every table. That is always top notch. She is always there making sure all of the dishes are up to her approval. Even the restaurant screams mexico. It is so cool.
