I spent my first 2 years in yuma at this apartment complex. Here is the lowdown. Grounds: Very nice... Oh man the grass is trimmed, The trees are groomed and there is very little trash around. The Apartments: Small, small and very small. For the price you pay you dont get very big apartments. I stayed in the one bed room 466 sq feet apartment. I was in apartment complex N which is near the office. The only problem with my place is I had an imprint of an iron on my carpet, and they had carpet in the bathroom. (Yuck!) The Parking: Plenty, but there is no assigned parking. Also a little tip. if you go to the northwest corner of El Encanto you can wash your car for free as they have a water hose for you there. Cost: Moderate to high. They have been increasing their cost over the last few years and now they are very prices for the little square feet you get. They are close to a major grocery store but I don't feel its location justifies its price. They don't have very strict requirements to get in so perhaps you pay for that. Support: Never had a problem. They are very picky on appearance so make sure you are aware that you cant keep things out on the porch or things like that. I had a box outside and they asked me to remove it. I guess I understand they are trying to make the place look nice... but perhaps they are a little too strict. The summary: Pro: Very nice looking outside. Location is good. Lots of parking. Con: Very strict on outside appearance, Rooms are small and prices are high. read more

Maintenance man was at my apt within 40 minutes of me reporting the problem. He was here 10 minutes, fixed the problem and was gone. Repair guys are all respectful, polite and friendly. Jennifer, Alex & Candy always coordinate with maintenance quickly and efficiently. You have a terrific staff here at Encanto!! My toilet stopped up totally very early Monday morning. I called the emergency maintenance line at about 7 AM. Within about 40 minutes there was a knock on the door and the service man was there with the tools to fix my toilet right then. Within 10 or 15 minutes, toilet was flushing just fine, and he was on his way. He was very friendly, polite and respectful. The office staff and service crew are great teams! I've lived here for a while and have had to call for repairs before. Every time they have taken care of my needs very promptly and I am VERY appreciative of that, so THANKS VERY MUCH! read more

After finishing a 1 year lease here and moving out, I can say that this place is not worth it at all. It does come with friendly staff and maintenance are great and fast, but this can't possibly be worth the prices they charge for their small outdated apartments. Read the other reviews prior to moving in, and looks like others were fussy about things silly things and perhaps just should have made better choices for themselves instead. We were just looking for a seasonal place and they had flexible leases perfect for our short term stay in Yuma. Love using the gym and the hot tub. The laundry room is rough, but was told it is getting new stuff? A clubhouse would be nice for meeting others, but this place is just the right size and has everything to meet our needs until spring. read more

You get what you pay for, I think that's already been said at least once here. Pros: Relatively cheap. The maintenance crew is relatively friendly, and that's good since you'll be dealing with them a lot. Has a nice enough pool, laundry room has a fair amount of washers and dryers. Covered parking, not assigned. Flexible lease terms for people not looking to stay long term. Cons: Older buildings in need of a serious overhaul. I could hear everything from the unit above me, and felt bad for the guy below me because the floor creaked so loudly when I'd walk on it. Got there right before the heavy rains last spring, and water wash gushing through the wall at the window. Soaked my bed. Due to this Covid nonsense it never was fixed the whole time I was there. The maintenance guy was nice enough, but all he could do was cut out the soaked drywall and put a fan in the room to dry it out. Their ridiculous Vid policy wouldn't allow him to come back and complete the repair. Sure didn't stop them from allowing an outside contractor to come in and install bird netting on the back deck though. By the way, I wonder how people are supposed to escape through that in the event of a fire? It's pretty stout stuff. Can anyone say fire code violation? The gym is basically a joke, half the equipment is broke and nobody seems in any sort of a hurry to fix it. Speaking of The Vid, like so many other places, this turned into an excuse for the office staff to not do most of their jobs. Like I said, you get what you pay for, and I wasn't expecting the 5 star treatment, but the reason I can't give it at least 3 stars is because when I first got there they were allowing the back parking lot to be used as a parking area for a local trucking company. Right outside the window where I'm sleeping at all hours of the early morning are these inconsiderate Dick holes idling their trucks, honking their horns, and yelling back and forth to each other. They went away after the apartment resurfaced the lot, but still... what were you people thinking allowing that shit in the first place? Hope it was well worth the extra $300 a month or whatever they were paying you because I won't be back primarily for that reason alone. read more

Sweet staff, nice space, and close to work. Love being able to work out in the new gym daily when I come home from work and then cooling off in the pool. The negatives are the laundry room is hot and old. It gets the job done alright, but needs a spruce up. Also, the cabinets and counters are old and gross. This is a cheap place to live but you get what you pay for. Their laundry facility is DISGUSTING! I MEAN HORRIBLE! One, the washer don't drain the access water from your clothes so you're forced to hand wring the water out. Which also means you have to pay for TWO cycles of dryer. That's $1.75 per load to wash for a washer that doesn't do its job and $1.50 per dryer, twice! So that's $4.75 just to was and dry ONE FUCKIN LOAD! Second off, anyone can get into the laundry room. Cuz it's not secured. So anyone can literally do their fuckin laundry there. It smells in there. The clothes come out smelling old as well. Also, the doors to my closet have fallen off twice now. On top of that, my stove doesn't work. These guys came to "fix it" and they didnt. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. All the cabinet drawers fall off too. Mind you, I have lived here for A WEEK! LITERALLY. The "sparkling pool" always has newspaper frash floating in it. If you look closely INTO the water, it doesnt get filtered with anything. It is DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY. There are also stray cats EVERYWHERE. It smells like cat piss outside as soon as you step out. This place is a fuckin shit show and I regret wholeheartedly moving in. Should have gone elsewhere. Also, the stove is from the 90s and the "new fridge" doors do not properly close. Temperatures in the fridge dont stay consistent. All my food was FROZEN. Even when I turn it down it doesnt change. And it's the smallest fridge i have ever seen. I'm writing this review on yelp too. We've been living here since June and love our apartment. We got a newly remodeled unit and it's very nice. Cabinets are sturdy and the wood floors are very nice. The office staff has been super friendly and helpful. The maintenance staff is quick, efficient and friendly. We love the gym and pool. They are both well taken care of. The laundry room is okay. One of the only downsides is we are a first floor middle unit and can hear ALL of our neighbours often, it's not a super big deal to us though. Overall I'd recommend this complex. read more

What is there to say about this place?? Pros: nice pool laundry with lots of washers and dryers covered parking for most people CONS: unsafe..as in dont leave anything outside it will get stolen! this is a sure bet to happen. -No Storage -one security guard for night time and he doesnt roam around seeing as though he lives there. -did i mention you will have your stuff stolen..my wife went to wash our clothes and while she was sitting next to the dryer some one tried to take our clothes??? WTF?? So from that time on I got to pull security duty with her at the washing machines. Turned out to be fun when you can see some really interesting people. I lived in the one bedroom apt on the bottom floor I didnt think it was that small and for the price not bad for a young marine. I think cable was freee at the time which was cool. the kitchens really need to be updated. the bathroom was ok. Just not a safe place. The look of the place and how close it is to everything makes it worth living there a little bit more. Also it is rather quiet there. but you are between a hotel and a side street 8th ave. They have bbq spots all over which is cool and most of the tenents in the G block(building) seemed normal and quiet. I lived in G-1037. Watch out for your clothing getting stolen or take someone big with you just in case. read more

Love it here in Yuma, it is like living at a resort! The pool is clean and well managed, the workout room has better equipment then some gyms I've been too and the staff here are so happy, helpful and always pleasant to chat with. Most people who live here are friendly. Always a few people who don't take care of dog poop or just gross. I have noticed the staff have really stepped up and remind people to pick up the poop and don't be a slob! Its great, I feel like the staff really care and try hard to make the community enjoyable for us all. I feel safe here and so happy I moved in. Clearly the best apartments in Yuma! read more

This is one of the worst apartments I've lived in. The office sweet talks you and makes you think they care but they don't. They take forever to get back to you. I've had problems with pigeons, stray cats that attack you trying to go into your own apartment, bed bugs, asshole neighbors, broken appliances suck as refrigerator and air conditioner and guess what?! They don't care. This place has cost me more than a headache. I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to live. I am so happy to be moved out! read more

When I was helping my 20 year old daughter look for a safe, affordable, place to live in Yuma last November, El Encanto seemed ideal. Here is a direct quote from their very own website: "You work hard, don't you deserve to come home to an apartment with features that simplify your life, including all electric kitchens and laundry facilities located on site?" 1) There are no laundry room facilities at El Encanto that work. Apparently there was a fire in the laundry room shortly after my daughter moved in. She has not been able to do laundry on-site since she has lived there, yet the website still brags about laundry facilities on site. Maybe the website should be changed to state that there are NON-WORKING laundry facilities on site. She has been complaining to the office for MONTHS. She asked for a discount on rent because of this and was told that they are not REQUIRED to provide laundry facilities and gave her a list of places she could go in town to do her laundry. No discount for this issue. 2) Her APS bill has been approximately $200 per month (or more) all spring and summer and she keeps her air set at appx 80 degrees. It just runs continuously and doesn't kick off EVER. She has complained about this problem multiple times and a maintenance worker will ultimately show up with a thermometer to measure the air coming out and tell her that her air conditioning works fine. She lives in a tiny studio apartment. She has to get up in the middle of the night continuously to shut her air off manually because it won't kick off by itself and she is freezing at night. Lo and behold, her air conditioner stopped working the other night. She called maintenance and left a message and then had to leave her house because it was 97 degrees and climbing. Maintenance called her back and told her they could not fix her air because she was not home. Of course she was not home. It was burning up in there. The next day someone came and fixed a whole slew of units at El Encanto because of other tenants air conditioners not working. I do not believe that the air conditioning units at El Encanto have been properly maintained. El Encanto's answer was that it's been extremely hot these last few months and that's just the way it is. 3) She recently placed two work orders for her garbage disposal being stuck. Nobody came to fix it. She called me because her apartment smelled so bad and she was getting nowhere with the office and so I telephoned the front office myself and spoke to a gentleman who told me that there was only one maintenance man for over 300 units. That sounds like a problem to me. When my daughter finally spoke to the maintenance man, she was told that they HAD fixed her garbage disposal in JUNE (It's October now) and that there were currently no other work orders on file for her garbage disposal. Not only is that not true, as she was able to provide the name of the person she spoke to regarding the garbage disposal, it is horrible customer service. Their answer was that if she put in an order, it would be in their computer system and it wasn't. Their word against hers. Nice. 4) Gym facilities? That's what they claim. There is one treadmill. It has never worked. She complained to the front office and they gave her a number of an off-site company she could call to complain about if she felt so inclined because they do not manage the equipment. 5) Whirlpool? Doesn't work. They also told her that is not their responsibility. 6) Last but not least, they have shut off Ash's water FOUR times with only one time with an actual warning. All of these times lasted for hours. She has a job. She needs water. The excuse was that all those times were emergencies so they are not required to give any notice. The General Manager there, Bri Knodel, said that none of these issues were ever brought to her attention and they should have been. By whom? My daughter? How about your incompetent staff? Seems like they are not doing their job. I even emailed corporate (info@hslproperties.com) to let them know the problems. Their answer is to have an office meeting about these issues. I want my daughter OUT OF HER LEASE at the end of October without being penalized...not stuck until November 30th. They owe it to her. Don't you think? This place SUCKS!!!! They advertise all these amenities but when you question as to why they don't work, you are told that they are not required to provide them. They are just an added bonus. As far as I see it, they are Slum Lords. Go ahead and keep collecting that rent check, but don't feel obligated to provide your tenants with nice, or at the very least, working amenities! P.S. I applied to rent a studio apartment for $500 a month with an income of $7500 a month. I was denied for owing money to the University of Michigan. I was told I was denied because I "owed on property". I tried to explain I don't own the college, I just went there for school. I requested a written explanation of my denial, but was not provided any written explanation. Only a non-sensical verbal explanation. If you have debt, don't waste your $200 on this place. read more

Worst apartment I've stayed at! If I could give it no star I would! First the customer services, they are not transparent with you, you will need to put money down to reserve the apartment, which by the way does not go on your deposit or rent for the first month! You can hear your neighbors walking around and talking (so if you're on the second floor good luck)! Pigeons infestation 24/7 which they always leave a surprise for you in the patio, I never seen the laundry room clean not even once! I told them that I won't be renewing my lease over the phone and called me 13 days later to tell me that I have to fill out paperwork for it and was fined 13 days insufficient notice fee ($480). I've asked them to call me on my mobile phone about the situation and they did not. Not everybody checks or receive emails, it would be nice if they give me a heads up via phone calls! You are just a money sign to them! So if you're choosing to live here take care of yourself because they sure won't do that! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Start off by telling you the counters are all painted, like wall paint, they are a pain to clean and get sticky when wet. The kitchen is also incredibly small so if you like to cook this it NOT your place. When I moved in my carpets were old when I moved out the charged me full price to replace carpets, I contacted a lawyer who said it'd be more expensive to fight the charge so I had to hit pay it. NOBODY picks up their dog feces, it's disgusting. The fixtures are all very old and the air condition systems are old as well, my electric bill for a one bedroom here was the same as my 3bedroom house I currently live in. El Encanto Apartments is not a place where you want to live. They show you there nicely appointed models and when you get to your actual rental that is nothing as nice as the models. There is a good reason that their models are also on the first floor other than access for the elderly and handicapped. Those floors being concrete don't buckle and creek with every step you take or every step your upstairs neighbor takes. When I moved in they said the apartment was clean and the carpets cleaned, that was not the case at all! The stove didn't work on one side and you couldn't tell the temputure or setting the oven was on due to the knobs had all that information removed from them. Then to top it off when I moved out they added more "utility" charges to keep some of my security deposit, even though they got their apartment back in a lot cleaner than I received it, but they will do anything to keep your money. BEWARE there is no ethics with this management group! If you have ever heard the saying "putting lipstick on a pig" that is El Encanto! Don't get fooled by all that new exterior paint. Lastly try doing laundry in their laundry facility when it's a 105 outside and no A/C in the facility with the dryers venting into the room. read more

I am not just saying this to give them a bad review because they upset me or anything but I honestly tried giving them a few chances before coming to Yelp and giving them this review. There are no manners whatsoever when dealing with the employees in the front office, specifically referring to a receptionist by the name of Shelly. She has had an attitude each time we spoke and hardly made an attempt to give the apartments a good impression. There were several miscommunications and little to no effort in helping a potential new tenant; therefore, I do not recommend them to anyone. PROS: cheap rent, military discount, utilities included, hooked up for wifi and free basic cable, decent location CONS: Staff and management do not care and are not knowledgeable about any of the units, they do not fix anything in a timely manner, none of my appliances work and they do not fix them, they dont take down your name or apartment number when you need to submit a work order, very small space, dishwashwer doesnt work, oven doesnt work, no hot water, no light in bedroom, cant move units before your lease is up without paying $200 dollars even if nothing works in your unit and they dont fix it, staff said they cant guarentee that appliances work in any unit, pool is not open year round as promised, laundry room was not open for 6 months and I was lied to when i moved in as they said it worked and in detail explained to me how it works, no storage, leaky plumbing, not properly insulated so electric is $120 for a 466sq ft apartment, management does not enforce pet cleanup on lawns, leasing office closes early and their phone number doesnt work, refrigerator is tiny. OVERALL, staff/management does not seem to care, and they will lie to you to get you out of the leasing office. I've tried to get my appliances/hot water fixed and they dont fix anything for months. All the appliances are old. The model apartments are they only ones with new appliances. You get what you pay for, however, they seem to be breaking laws in terms of the Arizona Tennant Rights. I will be moving and not recommending this place to anyone. In addition, after having been moved out for a few months, I recieved a bill from a collections agency for a bill that they never sent to me or attepted to call me about. Where to start? I'll go with the good things first. Good landscaping and green grass, generally nice looking exterior (at first glance), large laundry room, lots of non reserved covered parking spots. I don't have enough space to list all of the bad but this is the worst of it. The AC is as old as the buildings (80's) in most of the units, ours would fail 2-3 times per month under load. Also, they don't fix it on off hours or weekends unless it is OVER a certain temperature and it could be much hotter indoors. Dishwasher didn't work, they told us to run a load with bleach or vinegar to clean it (BS). Stairs would break and fall on people below causing minor injury which could have been much worse. Random things would break and fall off like the stove vent hood and our blinds. Nothing is done to control the pest pigeons and their feces, which they usually just paint over (disgusting). Peeling wallpaper, loose fixtures and haphazard painting round out just a few of the interior problems. Now to the crime, burglaries are common, frequent drug dealing in the parking lot, people testing your doorknob late at night to see if it is locked. Very rude and lazy staff, I never once saw the manager on site and the assistant manager is terrible. Lease agreements that are downright criminal, nonrefundable "redecorating" deposits and deposits for satellite dishes (both illegal). Worse yet when we sent letters to complain to the management company (Paul Ash) we didn't receive so much as a phone call from them in response. Only a note on our door the next week requesting permission to enter so they could "fix" the issues. Paul Ash Management LLC has a policy of totally ignoring their tenants from everything i experienced. I finally sought legal help in terminating my lease and was successful in doing so because of their inaction. They fixed NONE of the items I listed in a formal letter demanding them to be remedied.
