If a restaurant, a mercadito, a carniceria, or a food truck offers street style tacos in the Triad, Yelper Michael P will find them, try them, and review them, and all I have to do is follow along behind him - a bit lazy perhaps, but kinda cool, cause like Michael, I do like tacos and such! This truck is his latest find, apparently now firmly ensconced in a parking lot in the front of a mobile phone store, just down E Bessemer Avenue from another great little taco source, Taqueria Latinos. Unfortunately, this is a butt ugly stretch of Bessemer Avenue, similar to if not worse than, stretches of recently re-named Gate City Blvd, and apparently still in the political and financial blind spots of the governmental PTB - but perhaps bike lanes are just around the corner! The entire operation is typical as to menu, pricing, and service, resulting in some pretty darn good tacos - throw in a flavorful Burrito with Carne Azada, some very different, very tasty Rice & Beans, all "artfully" done. and you have yourself a really nice lunch of authentic street food. The tacos I tried were the al pastor, carne azada, and chorizo, all nicely decorated & flavored with chopped, raw white onion & cilantro, and came with grilled onions, a giant, grilled jalapeno pepper, and a red, house hot sauce with some noticeable heat. Once the onions, sliced jalapeno, and hot sauce were added, this became an excellent taco - and all for $1.25 each! I hope on my next visit to get the verde sauce, as well. The burrito is quite nice once you're well into it, the outer edges are rather dry tortilla. Inside is a nice assortment of thinly sliced beef, tomatoes, and lettuce - throw in some of the hot sauce, and you are good to go. The rice is a very white version with peas, carrot, and corn, & when well salted, quite tasty. The beans are basically pintos, in a rather soupy liquid, also tasty. I recommend this taco truck for your consideration!

This taco wagon sets up shop in the parking lot of a closed down tire shop on Bessemer Ave. I spotted it Saturday and wheeled in to check it out and had some pretty awesome tacos. They do the street style tacos, theirs are 2 small corn tortillas per taco with your meat option topped with onions and cilantro. They also do gorditas, tortas, sopes, burritos and a few other items. They had a couple of folding tables with chairs set up if you want to have sit down and eat. I tried chicken and al pastor tacos and they were great. The chicken is cooked with spices and peppers & onions like a chicken tinga, both were very good. Tacos are $1.25 each.

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Extra parking is located in the back. The guac is the best! Perfectly seasoned and definitely not scooped from a tub. Tried the Carne Asada, Pastor, and Chorizo tacos. YUM! The service was friendly and fast but not rushed, vibe is casual - great for a quick bite or margs with friends. I used to love the Sopes here but didn't see on the menu this time. Maybe I missed?

We brought a whole group to Kiosco for lunch, and had called ahead to have patio seating. I love that there's indoor and patio seating, so there's something for everyone. Even with our large group size, the service was prompt and continuous. The patio seating had nice metal tables, and umbrellas for the tables to shade the sun. There happened to be a nice breeze that day also, so the outdoor seating was perfect for our group. For lunch, I had the burrito gordo, and gordo it was. I don't think I've seen a larger burrito from a sit-down restaurant. All of the fillings of the burrito were cooked very well, and the seasonings were on point. I don't know why I tried to eat all of it in one sitting, but I did and surprisingly didn't live to regret it. This place is great for parties of 1, 10, or more. I love Mexican food, and Kiosco hits the spot.

True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!

Met up with a friend to grab lunch today, and had another great experience. Surprisingly, especially for a Friday, we were the only people there for lunch another small party arrived toward the end of our meal. The hostess/waitress was very friendly and attentive, checking on us, keeping chips, salsa and drinks topped off. I got the lunch ACP, which was quick to come out, and a first for me, it was served with choice of corn or flour tortillas...I opted for flour. The food tasted great, and portion size was perfect, honestly, probably a little more than I should have eaten for lunch, but it will tide me over until dinner. Definitely worth checking out. This spot has an amazing bright and vibrant atmosphere, beautifully decorated with bright colors, a much different look inside then out. I'm sure I'll be back again soon, good food, great, and quick service!

The name Bandito Bodega is extremely accurate, as the store itself is a small and unassuming looking place, with a charmingly decorated interior and some indoor and outdoor seating. It was very convenient to order at the cash register as soon as you walk in, and the staff was very patient and efficient. I adored the unpretentiousness and individuality of the place. It did not need any flashiness or grandeur- just some good food and good vibes. Now the food: WOW I was blown away by the pork belly garlic fried rice. The pork belly was so incredibly fatty and perfectly crispy, the shrimp add-on was juicy and well seasoned, and the fried egg over a bed of DELICIOUS steamy garlicky fried rice was absolutely perfection. And they do NOT skimp on the portions. This heaping bowl was just $15, and it was generously topped with the pork belly.
