At first, it was overwhelming but I asked about how they prepare the nachos and when they said the chips were separate, I knew I had to get them. The waitress was super nice and patient. The restaurant was not super packed so my order didn't take too long. When I got to my office, the bag that I assumed was chips was just queso. So I was not given chips. Initially, I thought chips must've been sold separately but I confirmed on my ticket that chips should've been on the side so I gave them a quick call. I spoke to Alan who was able to pull up my order and apologized and his resolve for my inconvenience was pretty amazing. Since my break room had an alternative for chips, I was still able to eat. The chorizo was so good and it had a little heat to it which paired nicely with the queso, guacamole and cilantro lime rice that I got. I had another great experience at Taco Mamma that reminded me why it's such a favorite of mine. I ordered my go-to shredded chicken nachos to go and headed to my car, only to realize there were no chips in the container. I popped back inside and let Taylor know, and he explained that the chips were under the toppings. Now, if you've ever ordered nachos to go, you know the struggle. Even the thickest chips don't stand a chance and quickly turn into soggy cornmeal. Taco Mamma's chips are delightfully thin and absolutely perfect when fresh, so I asked if I could just get a bag of chips and eat the toppings off the rest. Taylor would not hear of it. He insisted on making me a brand-new order, no hesitation, no fuss. I was so grateful--and honestly impressed by the kindness and care. I absolutely love Taco Mamma's nachos: the chips, the shredded chicken, the unlimited toppings, and of course the queso. It's truly one of my all-time favorite meals. I love ordering them to go so I can eat comfortably at home while watching reality TV, and as a bonus, I can portion one $15.50 chicken nacho entrée into three or four meals. I enjoyed Taco Mama. The service was quick and accurate. The vibe is cantina meets bar meets sit down restaurant. My tacos were good, they allow you to mix and match the 2 taco plate so I had one ground beef and one shredded chicken. They had a lot of toppings to choose from but I kept it simple with cilantro, queso fresco, and onions. Each plate comes with chips and salsa. The chips were a little salty for my liking but I was able to brush some of the salt into the Mac and cheese which was devoid of seasoning so it balanced out. I would not recommend the Mac and cheese. I was excited to see they had jarritos. I tried the grapefruit one because it was new to me. It was good and refreshing. We have had taco mama a few times before but this was one of our first times eating inside the restaurant! It has a very upbeat vibe and staff is always really friendly. We went on a very busy saturday night and still got our food in a timely fashion! I really liked my pomegranate margarita, especially because i received it as soon as I finished ordering my food! The food is plentiful for the price and I felt it was flavored well too. Taco mama is one of my favorite casual places to stop in for a quick bite and a good drink without the sit down price tag. The only thing I don't enjoy is the limited parking lot space there and the ordering system as it can feel a bit overwhelming with a long line to the door and trying to find a place to sit. I've been to Taco Mama twice now, and have determined it is severely underrated. Food is excellent, staff are friendly, and environment is fun. The first time I went, I had build your own tacos, this time I had build your own nachos-- both times with tofu for the protein. As a former vegetarian and lifelong tofu lover, I'm always happily surprised when a restaurant (like this one) can successfully serve flavorful tofu that is properly seasoned from the inside out-- not just breaded then doused in sauce. This tofu is marinated in cilantro-lime juice overnight, then seasoned and grilled. It tastes both savory and fresh. Today, in addition to tofu, I got refried beans, black beans, fresh jalapeños, onions, avocado, cilantro, and queso on my nachos. The menu has a HUGE variety of "fresh free toppings," which you can load up on with the create your own options. Pricing is just based on the protein you choose, so you don't have to worry about the price racking up with each topping you add. I appreciate that toppings some restaurants might deem "premium" (like queso or avocado) are still free, so I don't feel the need to sacrifice flavor to save $2. I noticed that with both my nachos and tacos, they put an appropriate amount of each thing I ordered. I didn't think anything was skimped out on, but I also didn't feel like my food was soggy nor dry, the liquid:solid ratio was perfect. My one and only complaint is that the sauces are not very spicy. While the tomatillo salsa is flavorful and delicious, I'm not sure I would agree that it is as "hot!" as the menu suggests. I wish there were a spicier option (other than the Cholula on the tables). Still, this is a small sacrifice to make when the rest of the food is so good, and toppings such as fresh jalapeños can compensate. read more

Called in an order from more some nachos to go last weekend while hanging out at Gate City Growlers down the road. The girl who answered was incredibly friendly, and happy to help me figure out what I wanted. I guess their menus are built to order, and she made some recommendations of what other put with chicken nachos. 10 minutes later, I drove up the road to pick up my order and they were quick to get me checked out and on my way back to GCG with a warm traf of delicious nachos. Unfortunately I forgot to get a picture before I ate them all, but they were fantastic. They were loaded up with lots of chicken, tomatoes, cheese and a cup of queso on the side to pour over. I did place a to go order but I was greeted promptly and I did not have to wait for my order. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and a flounder taco. The shrimp quesadilla was nothing special. The star of the show was the chipotle ranch. Once I dipped it in there it took the quesadilla up a notch. The taco was laughable. It had two little pieces of fish that could have been mistaken for chicken nuggets. The taco was loaded down with slaw so it felt more like a slaw taco honestly. I was disappointed with that. Super quick and super fresh food! They were ready delivering some of our food to the table before I even got finished paying and everything was great. The quesadillas are huge and definitely shareable and so are the tuna tacos. I ended up getting the fat boy burrito which was the only thing that I didn't love. It was good but uneven so all the meat was in one end and the rest was beans and rice. It's a little on the pricey side but the portions help make up for it. This was my first visit to Taco Mama. A couple of my colleagues recommended it for our team dinner. I have to say that this place was popping on Taco Tuesday. There was a line the entire time that we were there. Unfortunately, our table was literally right beside the customers in line. I didn't care too much for that. I do think that the seating arrangement should be adjusted for the reason. The ambiance of Taco Mama was very casual. The decor is bright, colorful and full of character. There is a lot to take in, but in a fun way. I ordered The Judge burrito basket and a Mi Casa margarita. Everything was delicious! The margarita has an orange flavor that I really enjoyed. My family and I absolutely still love this place. There was great enough weather so they had the windows open in the front. I find the open windows can sometimes attract flies so we ate near the middle of the restaurant. The blood orange margarita is still my favorite, when it's in season. This was my first time having the Justice is Served tacos, much better than other places that serve fish tacos, and you can add any topping so I removed the avocado and subbed guacamole. Stopped by Taco Mama this afternoon while running some errands on this side of town. We stopped by right at lunch time and it was busy, but thankfully they have plenty of seating so there were no issues. It was a nice sunny day and so they had the large windows up front fully opened to enjoy! Taco Mama offers multiple tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos! From already curated to make your own, you can't go wrong. I opted for a create your own burrito and went with the Barbacoa meat along with a side of Guacamole. The burrito was very tasty, the meat was tender and flavorful and i will certainly be getting it the next time we come by. All of the burritos come with an order of chips and salsa and choice of one side. I went with the guacamole as the side and it was tasty as well as fresh. I think both the salsa and guacamole could use some additional seasoning and spice as they were a tad bland, but everything else was flavorful. My girlfriend got the queso as her side for her tacos and it was delicious. For the amount of food and the taste you get at Taco Mama we will hands down be back. We have heard the margaritas are some of the best as well so we will be back to sample some of them as well! read more

My wife and I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Taco Mama's is convenient to her workplace and she heard good things from her coworkers. The outside is simple with a awning but we noticed they also have glass garage doors with permanent screens which would be great in the nice weather. The outside is definitely understated but once you walk inside you are greeted by string lights and lots of funky and brightly colored decorations placed all over. We could see there was an order counter with a line in front of it and walked up to stand in line. There are menu boards above the counter which looked to be written in chalk. They also have lots of paper menus to review which we grabbed. The basic menu is burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, nachos and salads with a lot of free options to add. You can order their standards or create your own. In addition to soft drinks, they also have beer, wine and ALOT of different margaritas. My wife chose the Mama's Salad and customized it to her liking and also requested a small basket of chips to go with her salad. I chose the Yo Mama burrito and also customized it. My burrito basket came with chips, salsa and a side. I chose the Mexican mac n cheese. Unlike other restaurants that nickel and dime you for items like avocado and guacamole, Taco Mama includes all of these options with no up charge. We also thought the prices were very reasonable. The young lady that took our order was friendly and helpful as well. We got our drinks and chose a table and put our order number on the table. Our order arrived quickly and looked delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the chips were thin and crispy. The portions are generous and we enjoyed everything. We learned they are a regional chain which began in 2011 and now have 23 locations across Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina. They appear to be Alabama based since the majority of their locations reside there. In addition to the Greensboro location, they are also in Winston-Salem and Charlotte They also advertise catering for groups of 10 or more and my wife noted that since they often order meals at her work. Taco Mama is such a fun, delicious little spot in Greensboro. It's especially fun to visit on Tuesdays when they have 50% off certain margarita pitchers. Can't beat that price! It's a small spot in a busy shopping center, so parking can be a bit tough at peak times. You order at the counter, grab your number, then head to a table and they bring your food to you. Typically, the line is fairly long to order and can sometimes trickle outside onto the sidewalk. The staff is extremely friendly and inviting, and do the best they can to hurry the line along. Depending on the patron ordering, it can take a little time. I'm a menu pre-stalker, so I'm generally ready with my order which isn't the case for everyone :) You usually receive your food quickly which makes up for it! The food: so many options! They have predetermined menu items like burritos, tacos, quesadillas, salads, & bowls. But you can customize and build your own anything, or generally order any menu item in another form (burrito to burrito bowl). The portions are huge, prices are great, and the food is always fresh and delicious, and best of all...MOST ADDITIONAL TOPPINGS ARE FREE! (No, guac is not extra!). If you were to ask me a place for Americanized Mexican comfort food, I would tell you come here. This place has been my go-to spot for a while when I'm up in that area of Greensboro. My littles love it too. It's a mix of high top tables and regular tables. Of course the littles love the high top tables. The decor inside is intriguing and I always seem to notice something different each time I visit. I've had catered lunches as well from Taco Mama, and the quantities are plentiful. My usual order is the Yo Mama with a side of street corn. I am getting hungry just thinking about it now. Parking can be challenging due to the number of awesome restaurants in that small area, so patience is needed when planning a visit.
