Family comes here regularly, we're visiting so wanted to try it. Good food, friendly. We dined in so everything was hot and fresh. The handful of tables were clean and not really fancy which is not necessary IMHO. See why the fam goes here!

Stopped by since in the area, we sat down and we have to order at the register. The place is a bit small but very nice and clean. I ordered the king steak burrito and added rice inside of it and it was delicious. I also got a steak hurache everything on it and it was super delicious the flavor was amazing. I got the super nachos steak and it was my favorite it was actually better than my burrito I was super amazed with the flavor of it because when I grabbed the first chip and I saw nacho cheese sauce I was like great I'm not liking this but it it was so damn good. This is my go to next time I come back. Also the horchata is very good. The only thing this restaurant needs to do is over by the bathrooms you need to get a plumber so he can get rid of that horrible sewer. Other than that this place is very good.

I stopped by El Fuego a couple of times in Algonquin. Less than two weeks later someone from work brought in a catered package of beef, refried beans, rice, tortillas, and other accoutrements from El Fuego. The service and atmosphere at El Fuego is nice. There is a moderate amount of room on the inside for seating. It was somewhat lively both times I was there. The food was not great and the tacos are pricey for their size. I had tacos on flour tortillas made American (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream) and Mexican style (onions and cilantro). The beef steak was a little on the salty side and the chicken was a little bland. I enjoyed the ground beef the most because there was some good flavors that came with it. The refried beans and the rice didn't have as much flavor as they should have. El Fuego has plenty of room to improve.

This was the best place around after Tacos ElNorte closed. Prices are up, quality is down. This is my steak taco with only cheese, Lettuce and tomato. Blah, totally blah. Too many other Taco joints around where I can get what I paid for.

Our first visit post Covid. This is still our favorite Mexican restaurant in McHenry County. We love their Huaraches. Today's huaraches were made different than we remembered: bread base with meat, cilantro, and onions. Where was the refried beans layer, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, avocado slices and limes? We always *add* Cantina Style per their in-store menu. We also tried their Super Nachos: tortilla chips topped with steak, beans, cheese, onion, tomato, guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños. This dish was delicious and had all the appropriate ingredients. We called ahead and placed our order over the phone. Then hubby went inside to pick up our bagged food.

Yes!!! I drive here for a good taco in the burbs - usually pickup since it's smaller inside. It's mostly busy which is always a good sign!

Meh...... average tasting that's too bland for Mexican cuisine and a bit pricey although their guacamole is pretty good.

Their al pastor is one of the best in town. Highly recommend their tacos, huaraches, taco bowls, and horchata.

Burritos are bomb and so good. Some of the sauces aren't always consistent, employees are nice.

If you are lucky, they will even create a special plate based on Juan's recommendation and your taste buds! Perfectly seasoned meats, authentic sides, and delicious homemade sauces! We always have leftovers which somehow taste even more amazing the next day! Amazing! And don't get me started on the margaritas!! While the strawberry is my favorite, the mango, peach, and OG lime are all amazing! As a Los Angeles native, it is amazing to have finally found a spot that brings me a taste of home with such friendly warmth! Also, they have Modelo on tap. That is great. I had the shrimp fajita, and my wife had the taco platter. Both were slightly missing. The shrimp seemed to be subpar tasting (I think they use a lower quality shrimp) and the whole platter was drowning in oil, and was highly underseasoned. My wife's tacos: the Cocinita was really salty! I like salt, don't get me wrong, but that is all you taste, then the cocinita taste finally comes in after a few minutes... that's really bad...The Carne was the opposite (totally bland) , and she had a chorizo which was a bad brand of a chorizo. (I'd say Supremo Chorizo is much better taste than this, and Supremo has nothing but filler in it). Very disappointing. Whatever vendor you're using, cancel them, they're doing you a huge disservice. All that for $73. Our server was very nice and she was very attentive. That's the reason why we did tip her 20%. When she asked about the food, he said it was great. We didn't want her to feel bad. She didn't cook it. & Why cause a scene? It was edible, but we're not coming back. Sorry, we arrived at 3 PM, before the rush scene at 5 PM. So there really was no excuse. You need to taste your food cooks... I am sure there are many who don't know the difference, but I've been to Many Mexican restaurants; including in Mexico. No not your vacation hotspots. I'm talking the real parts of Mexico. (Like Coyocan, (the outskirts in f Mexico City), Merida, Jalisco....etc... There's a huge difference.... ) So, we will still be driving far to find a great Mexican restaurant. The two that I still recommend are La Mera Mera in Libertyville and El Rodero in Streamwood. Both are small little places, but so well worth the trips.. So: They are the closest we can find to being authentic and care for the food they serve.... On to our next suburban hidden find if possible...Good luck!
