I've passed by this place several times in Algonquin. I finally decided to drop in with a coworker at linch and check out some eats. The place was nice clean and open on the inside. We both received service with a smile. The food preparation only took a few minutes. I had a three taco plate with black beans and rice for $14.99. I was surprised by how well the tacos were. They were American style with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. I ate a grilled chicken, a grilled veggie, and ground beef taco. All three were delightful and well seasoned but the ground beef was my fav! My coworker had a burrito and said it was great. I ordered a carnitas burrito bowl through GrubHub. When I received the order I started eating the carnitas. After I took a few bites I took another bite and bit down on something hard. I took the item out of my mouth and was very surprised to see a fairly large bone. It's large enough that I don't know how it was missed. It actually broke a tooth. Not sure what's happened here,but the quality of food is going down hill. Steak is tough and full of grizzle, didn't used to be as bad as today ! Chicken last couple times ,has been very dry,not much flavor, and a ton of cheese on both. The tacos are usually have cooled down due to the amount of cheese . I used to come here 3-4 times a week and get a few tacos each time, now maybe once a week,and it's 1-2 because I really don't know what I'm going to be getting. I've been going to Burrito Parrilla Mexicana for some time now, and it's fantastic! It's great and affordable for a family of four. I always get the nachos with al Pastor, and the meat is absolutely incredible. You get chips and salsa with your meal, and they bring out four different sauces, each one amazing. The food comes out super fast, which is perfect when you have little ones. The service is great here, you order up at the counter then they bring you baskets of chips and salsa while you wait for your food to come. The building is huge and comfortable for groups. This place is definitely a five-star spot for me and one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Chicago suburbs! read more

If you ever spend more than a month in El Paso, Texas, it will ruin Mexican food in the rest of the U.S. for you. EP just hits different. And burritos honestly taste better when they're huge, but only a few bucks. But on my forever-quest to find a burrito in the burbs, suitable for any time of the day, Burrito Parilla Mexicana has come through. On the list of quality Mexican eatery, they check the box on everything. Delicious smells, check. Good music, check. A minimum of two salsas, check. A variety of carnes that can be put in burritos, tacos, or tortas, check. I'm not going to lie, I don't shy away from a grungy hole-in-the-wall, but BPM is far from being one. They're super clean, in a beautifully designed and open space. It's honestly shocking that they've been in business for more than one year because the inside really looks brand spankin' new. Dining in is an absolute must. Chips and salsa are served complimentary and they make the chips in-house so you know they're hot and fresh. The salsas are brought out to you once you sit down. None of the salsas were the call-the-fire-station variety, but the heat was definitely there. I was fiending over the salsa de aguacate because I never find that out here and it took me down El Taco Tote memory road. And I ordered a small guacamole that was bigger than I had anticipated. My husband doesn't share my love for avo, but it's definitely big enough for 2-3 to share. The guac was fresh and flavorful with actual bits of tomato, onions, and jalapenos (they're small, but big enough that you can eat around if you're not a fan). I came for the burritos, but I ended up with tacos because the smells from the grill kept screaming "Tacos with lime! Tacos with lime!" So I listened and my stomach was not complaining. I ordered two taco plate al pastor with only onions and cilantro because I was raised right. I doused them with lime, salsa rojo, and salsa de aguacate... Tasty! This was everything I hoped for! My hubby went with a steak burrito sans lettuce and seemed to have a similar experience. BPM has a fan in me and they'll be my first recommendation when people ask me for good Mexican eats in the area! They also have a drive-thru that kept everyone hustling the whole time we were there, but I 100% recommend dining in when given the choice. Phenomenal job making delicious food, on my wishlist for BPM is barbacoa, picadillo, and possibly chicharrones because I think they would execute those so well. I used to cringe driving by this building located off of Algonquin rd between a block of automotive care venues as it was once a Fradillio's Hot Dogs, a wannabe Portillo's with poor customer service and subpar food. The expected demise of the above lead to a big sigh of relief. Some time later, enter Burrito Parrilla. Hey, there are a TON of Fresh Mex in the area. One reason that I like this place is because every order that I've placed indeed tastes fresh. Pay attention to little things like lettuce and salsa in places like this. You'll soon be able to tell who tries to serve you old food. Not here. The other big reason I like Burroto Parrilla is because THEY HAVE A DRIVE THRU! Yes you may have to wait a few minutes because food is made to order but spare a minute because the alternative is fast food and/or heatlamped food. I did notice that its a few bucks per item higher than others and I question the justification but they are consistant I guess. It looked great and was fun to watch them cook everything. I was more surprised how quickly the made the food to order. Burrito Parrilla Mexicana. To start off they have tons of locations in Illinois. Think as of recent they opened one up in Schaumburg. Since I have some family near Schaumburg and they love Mexican food as well I told them to try it out and they definitely were very happy. They are also closed on Sundays so be aware of that when trying to go to one of their locations. Some things I've tried so far and would recommend. 1. Chicken Chimichanga - I love the grilled chicken they have and the poblano pepper sauce they use on top of it is super addicting. 2. Alambre - If you like meat this is what you should get. Tons of it with Fajia peppers but last I looked they took it off the menu 3. Al Pastor Torta - The Al Pastor and the bread they have is divine. Just not a huge fan of the pinapple that comes with the meat sometimes. 4. The tacos 5. Enchiladas with the poblano pepper sauce 6. The pinapple water to cleanse your pallet. Tons of great food and you can see them make it in front of you. They also have a drive through option (not everything is shown on the drive through menu so I'd have the menu open on your phone). If I have a busy day I just order it online and pick it up for the family and I. Food I ordered the Al Pastor Burrito. The burrito is a pretty good size and came with rice and beans. They also had horchata, which tasted really refreshing. The rice and beans were really good. The rice was fluff and had some flavor, while the beans were creamy. Usually when I get beans, they have a play do/paste consistency. This was surprisingly creamy. The burrito was a good. The meat was very flavorful. The other contents were good as well. They had, what seemed like homemade, hot sauce. I think it was made in store since it had a thicker consistency. Overall This experience was a good experience. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice and the staff seemed nice. The three taco plate (chicken taco's for me) were tasty, though I can't say they tasted better than other places that make fresh tacos. Adding beans and rice as sides was a nice perk, though. Both the sides tasted pretty good! My mom preferred them to the taco's, actually. The food was made to order and hot! One thing I will say about this place is you get a lot of food! Each of us had a few things leftover for the next day. They were a bit sparse on the salsa, though, for what came to six tacos and a quesadilla. We had two dinner orders: Chicken Enchiladas with white poblano sauce, and a Carnitas Burrito. We had black beans and rice with each dinner and a side of Guacomole. Stopped by the bar station to order an Anejo margarita. Add a soft drink and the order came to 60.00 for 4. The quesadillas came with a perfect portion of guacamole so I really didn't need to order the 5oz, but it was really good, so not upset. I did confirm with the food runner if I received the right size margarita because it was 11.75 with tax and unfortunately with two baby sips, it was half empty. (Yes, I received the right size). My husband found this place and suggested we go for our weekly date night. I am the pickiest about my Mexican food. Most places like this are super Americanized and I am usually not a fan of. I was preparing myself to be disappointed but to my surprise it was super good! My husband is a vegetarian so I am always excited when they have something other than grilled bell pepper tacos. He got the Veggie torta and loved it! The fries are also very good. Not soggy at all. I got steak enchiladas of mole. It is hard to find good mole but this mole was delicious! The salsa they serve with the chips is not good. Needs more cilantro and onion but the salsa in the bottles are tasty and spicy! The only thing I was not a fan of was the price of the margaritas.
