Amazing food, great service, all tucked into an unassuming hole-in-the-wall. Their salsa bar is loaded with options, I highly recommend giving them all a try, there's something for everyone! I tried the strawberry horchata just for s's and g's and it was delicious. I also had the Birria tacos and was very happy with the taste and the amount of consume' served. The food here is phenomenal. It's top quality authentic Mexican food that won't break the bank. We ordered first at the counter (queso birria tacos & 2 child plates with chicken quesadillas) & then took a seat with our drinks to wait for our food to be cooked. The child plates normally come with a side black beans or refried beans, but I knew my kiddos wouldn't eat them & the wonderfully accommodating lady at the counter offered rice instead. My birria tacos couldn't have been better. A fresh salsa bar was available as well but I managed perfectly fine with the birria juices & the salsa that came with my plate. I've been here twice in the past two weeks, and I'm blown away by the quality of the food and the value El Gallo offers. The decor is pleasant enough butt somewhat cafeteria like, but it's clean and spacious. The food is absolutely first rate, with wonderfully flavored rice and beans with most dishes, and everything I've tried from the tacos to the taco salad seem made from the freshest of ingredients and every item bursts with individual flavors. It's not all samey like some Mexican places can be. Your entree is a huge meal in itself, but you can also enhance it with a salsa bar that offers numerous salsas in various colors and heats, very fresh sour cream, sliced jalapenos and more. The taco salad I had was with steak, and it seemed like a full sized steak was sliced into the incredibly flavorful salad, which included fresh lettuce, avocado, pickled onions, diced tomatoes, black beans (my choice, you can also get refried), and it all comes in a huge, freshly prepared edible tortilla bowl. It is an absolute delight! Add a huge selection of authentic Mexican sodas and other beverages and a top notch staff that is responsive and friendly, and El Gallo is the only choice for fifty miles in any direction if you want amazing, authentic Mexican food in a nice setting with generous portions and the option, with the salsa bar, to customize your meal exactly how you want it. Our food was very good, husband had Carne Asada, steak was very flavorful,tender and the refried beans were delicious.i had Pollo Asado, flavor was absolutely delicious and tender,not dried,portions were large,plenty of hot corn tortillas and many sauces to choose from,pico de gallo and the guacamole tasted like homemade. The first time I went I got menudo. It's a Mexican soup that I love. We ate in and had to pay before we ate. The server took our order at the table. The Jamaica is really good and can tell it's freshly made. It's a basic restaurant set up with the drink machine available for refills. Along with a small salsa bar. It's a very spacious place. The second time I went I got the carne asada plate. It was ok. Not up to standards for what the plate in my opinion usually looks like. The meat wasn't seasoned and the lettuce with the pico de gallo didn't go together. I will return to try other dishes. read more

I had the lengua tacos which is beef tongue... the meat was the most amazing thing I've ever had as far as lengua tacos ever... it melted in my mouth like fois gras... it was so rich almost as if it had duck fat in it... it was the most perfect lengua tacos ever and I'm so glad I came here I'm sitting here in the restaurant writing about it here... it is that good... this place should be busy... it is undiscovered glory... this place is so freaking delicious... they have all the best real Mexican cuisine and they have great accessible food too... the music is good too.. read more

Vegan tacos were surprisingly very good. Enjoyed trying the 4 different salsas on offer, which I think were home made. Daughter's taco pastor was good. Wasn't a traditional spit, but the meat was juicy with bits of pineapple and pickled onions. read more

Fajita tacos were tasty. The chicken was small chunks and dry, otherwise good. Jeff had the burrito special. Apparently they ran out of shredded chicken so he had beef. Said it was good, but would have enjoyed it more if he'd been able to have chicken. We'd give this place another try in the future. Friendly service. read more

Meh food and meh service. I was looking forward to having a good quality meal, but definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

The fajita tacos are amazing!!! The hot sauce "bar" allowed me to create a custom mix of complex heat. There's a dispensary on the other side of the plaza mall so some heads came in baked and had the munchies! Juan & Co are doing a great job and parking here is much easier than their Taco Kings location in Glens Falls. read more
