I'm glad that it was a much better experience than what I expected. The restaurant is two stories high and has a beautiful view of the ocean. I also loved all the Mexican decor and how bright and spacious it was. The food was delicious!! The lobster was my favorite, really meaty and tasty! I ordered their special which comes with a fried fish, lobster, shrimp, beans, soup, salad, a margarita and freshly made flour tortillas! I couldn't believe the amount of food the special order had. The service was amazing! They welcomed us with a big smile, the food was out quickly and someone was always there for anything we needed. We will be back soon!

We have been coming here for 25 years and we bring different friends and it has never let us down! So perfect! Highly Recommend! It is not the fanciest, it's a bit rustic but for the price and flavor we love it! Get the lobster special and it comes with a margarita, beans, rice, fresh flour tortillas, limes, drawn butter, and salsa. So delicious, traditional, and filling. The menu has other seafood and non seafood items. Sometimes a mariachi or a norteño banda will play. Tip: ask the singers how much they charge per song before you start requesting. Some charge between $10-$20 per song. It gets hot in the downstairs deck so bring a hat, sunglasses, and a coverup. They do have a tarp that covers partially. But you cannot beat the sun and the salt air! Service is always wonderful! Same staff has been there forever! Parking: When you pull up to the front they usually have a few spaces reserved for the restraint we always tip the parking guy. He watches to ensure your car is safe. They have indoor seating upstairs with a good view. But I like outside better! I wish I could give 4.5 stars because we love it but some upgrades are needed, some walls are insider construction. Clean restrooms.

Perched on a cliff above the Pacific with nothing but open ocean in front of you, this is honestly one of the most iconic spots in all of Valle and I will die on that hill (pun very much intended). Getting there is part of the experience. You park at the bottom, hop on a shuttle, and ride up a winding dirt road to the bar. The drivers are so fun and honestly the whole shuttle vibe is its own thing. People are dancing, singing, already in a great mood before they even arrive. Instant friends every time. Once you're up top, the drinks are flowing and the sunset views are absolutely unreal. I haven't done a full meal here but the chips alone deserve their own Yelp page. Homemade, crunchy, covered in cheese. I could have just eaten those and been completely happy. Oh and one more thing, and I'm being completely serious: please go to the bathroom. Even if you don't need to. Especially if you don't need to. The views from the restroom might be better than some restaurants I've paid full price to eat at. Bar Bura is one of those places I'll keep coming back to no matter how many times I've been. If you haven't gone yet, fix that immediately.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I had a reservation for 6pm at Cuatro Cuatros. The complex has a bar up at the top of the mountain along with airbnbs and a winery at the bottom. We parked our car and was escorted through a plank full of grape vines before getting on a shuttle up the mountain. Before we hopped on the bus, we got to choose a beverage of choice to go up the mountain. I got the modelito (small modelo). The shuttle ride is pretty steep and bumpy so I understand why they have a trained driver to drive. When we got to the top - wow wow wow. Beautiful views of Salsipuedes Bay. We had to walk along the side of the restaurant to get in. For food we got a oaxacan cheese taco, fish and chips with the catch of the day, and a crepe for dessert. For drinks we got a carajillo and a non alcoholic beverage. Everything was great however my favorite bite was the freshly fried fish and chips. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, we spent around 1800 MXN and had a great time. Beautiful views with good food. Definitely worth checking out once.

Well well well. Major problem is once again with this place. I will say that when I moved here…read morenine years ago this place had probably the best food in the area. The Cook, who is one of the owners really put his heart and soul into cooking and he had just delicious dishes. They had everything from French onion soup to sushi to short ribs. Fast forward to now both of the owners are now gone. Even through all the changes they still had a respectable burger for the area however I went there about a week and a half ago had a bacon cheeseburger, and it was the most horrible hamburger I ever had. I got their bottle of ketchup to do the fries in a little bit on the burger. The ketchup bottle seemed full of ketchup however it was all dried up inside, and only clear liquid was oozing out. It looks slightly pink. It was truly gross. On top of that the place seems super filthy. They totally lost the edge. I'll never go there again. To add that later that night I had indigestion at one of the highest levels I've ever had in my life. I guess there's new owners for God sakes, but they should at least clean the place doesn't cost a lot of money to hire someone to get it clean and not so sticky.

The pizza was good and filling - nothing too special but cheap and good. The fried chicken dinner was awesome, some of the best fried chicken we have had. It came with 3 pieces of boneless white meat fried chicken, green beans & mashed potatoes. Chicken was crispy, salty as it should be and so juicy and yummy! Service was awesome as usual, we sat on the patio to get some sunlight. Our beers never ran dry! Gets a bit crowded on Thursdays so we got there early (around 3:30pm) and left before the crowd + live music was there for the night. Great, fun crowd. Definitely will be back next Thursday.

Our second time eating at this restaurant. I never placed a review of this place which is very…read moreUn-Elite of myself, but I didn't think many would refer to Yelp in Mexico. We have been to many restaurants here at Puerto Nuevo the higher priced restaurants to the ones that offered the best deal. As a family we spend our Thanksgiving holiday having lobsters instead of Turkey, and when we first tried La Escondida last year, it was because they offered 4 halves of lobster for $20.00 USD. This year it was a no brainer and we went straight to this location again, however we noticed on the menu it was 3 halves for $33.00 USD so my son, our Spanish interpreter asked about the deal we got last time we visited and our waitress honored the same deal. So Pro Tip is ask if they will give you that special pricing. The way I see it is even if they are slightly smaller, there is no restaurant in the U.S. that you can get two whole lobsters with unlimited tortillas, rice, beans and chips & salsa for $20.00 each. I can get two orders for myself and it would still be better than what I can get in California. Maybe next year I'll see if someone is willing to beat that deal. If the weather is good, ask for a table outside in their covered patio overlooking the ocean.

Big Lobsters, Great Service... But the Flavor Never Arrived…read more If you're looking for an honest review, this one is a mix of highs and lows. Unfortunately, I won't be returning unless some things change. For now, I'll stick with my usual lobster spot where I know exactly what to expect. I'm an experienced lobster eater at least 2-3x's a month. I especially am familiar with Puerto Nuevo style being a San Diegan. We visited on a Friday around noon with a large group, and the restaurant was otherwise quiet. The staff was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and quick to serve. Service was easily one of the strongest parts of the experience. We started with the fish taco appetizer. It was underwhelming, and I didn't even finish it. The chips and salsa, however, were absolutely delicious. My margarita leaned heavily on the "marga" and forgot about the "rita." It wasn't well balanced. This is why I am pro shots. Never disappointed. The entertainment was good. The mariachi played at just the right volume so you could still enjoy a conversation, and later a jazz musician performed who was incredibly talented. The fresh tortillas deserve their own applause. They were soft, flavorful, and far better than your average restaurant tortilla. Now for the lobster. Visually? Wow. These were some of the biggest lobsters I've ever seen. Since we were a large party, plate after plate came out with huge, impressive lobsters. But looks can only take you so far. The lobster itself was surprisingly bland. The meat was tough, dry, and lacked any flavor lobster lovers expect. Even the drawn butter tasted more like unseasoned melted margarine than butter. Thankfully, I carry Trader Joe's Chili Lime Seasoning in my bag because it was the only thing that made the lobster enjoyable. Without it, I honestly don't think I would have eaten much of it. I did leave half. The refried beans were actually delicious, although I personally don't eat lard, so knowing they contained it kept me from fully enjoying them. And the lobster can likely be cooked in lard what the succulent seasonings can mask it. Not this time. The dining room also needs some attention. The white chairs with decorative ribbons would be beautiful if they were clean. Every chair at our table was soiled and gave me the shibbee geebees. I covered mine with a sarong I happened to have with me. The restroom was the biggest disappointment. I understand the local plumbing system requires toilet paper to be disposed of in trash bins, but those trash bins need to be emptied frequently. The odor was overwhelming. I literally had to hold my tummy to avoid vomiting. Overall, I truly wanted to love this experience because there were several things the restaurant got right: outstanding service, great live music, excellent fresh tortillas, and delicious chips and salsa. Right now, the service is carrying the meal, and that's simply not enough for me to make a return trip. "When you're known for lobster, the lobster has to be the star."
