My cocktail was the Agua Caliente and was one of the best craft cocktails that I have tasted in a very long time.

I ordered the Pepino Misionero which is a cucumber drink. I loooooooooveeee my cucumber drinks! This one felt like a mojito in that there were muddled ingredients in it. I loved the drink but I typically don't order mojitos because I find them difficult to drink and I hate getting the leaves in my mouth. I had the same difficulty with the Pepino Misionero. The ambiance is modern with both indoor and outdoor seating. There is a gorgeous fire pit right in the middle of the patio which gives off nice heat without making your hair smell like firewood. It's the perfect place to grab a few drinks before heading down for your dinner reservation at Mision 19 but it's not a place I would seek out just to drink at for the night. The prices are very similar to the prices you would pay for cocktails in the states. Not overly expensive, just more expensive than other drink prices in Mexico. It was a bit dead when we arrived since it was fairly early in the night so I'd be curious to feel the vibe of the place when it's more packed.

To get inside, you have to go through the hotel entrance and then take the elevator to the top floor. There was no issue going up or down, and everything moved rather quickly considering we visited on a Friday night. Up top it was a little crowded near the edges where everyone was taking photos, but people moved around pretty quickly so it was still easy to get some really good pictures from the rooftop. I didn't order any drinks, so this review is based solely on the location and the views, but once you're up there it's just absolutely beautiful. We stayed for about 20 minutes, enjoyed the views, took in the atmosphere, and then headed out. Definitely worth checking out if you're in San Diego.

The food was just as killer. The pastrami sliders were fantastic, albeit small. The tuna tostada was solid, but there should be 2 on the plate IMO. The potatoes and crispy mushrooms were very tasty. The scallops were delish but $36 for 2 smaller scallops and little veg to accompany is my biggest complaint. The star of the show was the half chicken. Seasoned and cooked perfectly and the portion size made up for the other portion misses. The wine list was approachable at all levels and they even had Guinness on draft.

As the night drew on it got cooler inside but just be aware. The decor is adorable and the DJ was super fun. Our waitress said most of their serving dishes and glasses are antiques that the owner has collected. Love that. We ordered a glass of Gamay (because it was served cold) and beer to start. We ended up getting a bottle of the Lester Pinot Noir also because it was cold. They will let you taste any wines even before you order a full glass and that's super awesome. Note they only have beer and wine. The food was good and as everyone else has said, the portions are small. We started with the pastrami gougeres which was definitely my favorite thing that we ordered. Very, very good and not nearly as heavy as I thought they would be. I was afraid to order them because I didn't know if they'd be super filling (they are just the right amount). The summer tomato salad had an amazing ginger dressing and I thought was a pretty decent size for a small plate. The salad changes and uses seasonal ingredients. The peach was great with the tomatoes though I wish the peach had been a little more ripe. The bbq potatoes were great, my boyfriend liked those the most. And we ended with the scallops which were good but only two pieces. Definitely ask for a spoon if you get the scallops so you can make sure and get all the sauce. Overall, it's a very cute spot. Not sure if we'll go back only because it is pretty costly for the amount of food you get. But I do recommend it.

So we found that Prohibition offers a whiskey class where you can make drinks yourself. Met the owner Ryan who is the owner of Prohibition Whiskey and he told us the story about how he started the business and we connected because he was from Oakland. From that moment it was on and poppin. The vibes of the class was great and conversations along with the drinks were flowing. We ended the night by making an espresso martini made with whiskey and it was amazing. Plus it was dope that I got to make the drink myself. A sponsor had rented out the whole place and all drinks were comped with food being passed around. We had cuban sandwiches and empanadas, which I think were all from the Havana restaurant upstairs. Food was great! Drinks were good, but the menu was so confusing to me. I didn't really like how they categorized them. Sometimes I feel like just being straightforward is better. Too cute with trying to do the prohibition/speakeasy menu. It did take a while to get drinks when it was packed. Understandable. But I had a few that were good, the boats and hoes, and keffir lime tequila drink were great. I would say that the bathroom had a bit of a stink to it...not sure what it was but smelled just like coming up from the pipes. May just be a basement issue. Overall, good experience. It didn't feel super special but just like any other speakeasy. I like False Idol better in terms of overall vibe.

It was a good mix of people dressed from casual to dressed up in business attire. I ask the bartender if she can make me on those margaritas they had when Guy Fieri was promoting the Santo Tequila and she said yes we still have some of that left. So she made me a margarita and it was really good. The tequila goes very well with cocktails. I then realize it was bartender that was in the video with him. She was very nice and the price was very reasonable for a rooftop bar. Couple funny things I met a couple guys from Boston as well who sat right next to me. We were kinda shocked that they had the heaters on as it wasn't that cold. At least for us lol. Again for a Friday I was shocked it was not packed. I was told during the games it is standing room only. I will definitely be back 100 percent!!

We ordered a Caesar salad, wings and carnitas quesidilla ($20 - not pictured). First of all, the salad was nice and tart from the dressing. It woke up my taste buds and provided some roughage. Unfortunately, the wings were a miss. They were baked vs fried, and the texture combined with the sourness of the tamarind didn't go well together. Lastly, the quesadilla was big and packed with meat. I had 1/4 of it and I was stuffed. Felix & Nia took great care of us. They were attentive and friendly. The ambiance was very nice on a warm summer night, and you can see Petco Park (where the Padres play). I would stop by Borrego, even though I would never stay at the hotel again. The food is very good, and the service is friendly & warm.
