Use to be one of our favorite Greek Restaurants when it was opened downtown. They just opened three days ago in their new location. You put your order in at the counter and they bring it to your table. I think they should hire a waitress to take your order. Very casual interior with table sitting. Simple but well done in a Greek Motif. Everyone is very cheerful and the owners make sure everything is great. The chicken on the skewers was well seasoned and tender. I chose the house dressing and my wife chose Tazaki sauce. Both were great. I had the Village Fries with a side Greek Salad and my wife the Greek Potato Salad. Everything was very good. Great to have El Greco back and a welcome addition to the restaurant scene. Make sure you try them out . You won't be disappointed! read more

My family and I recently took a vacation to Siesta key and flew in and out of Tampa. On our last day, we wanted something delicious, yet nutritious for lunch and we're excited to find El Greco kitchen and market. I am a huge fan of a loaded Mediterranean bowl, so I was feeling really good about my choice. The reviews were also great. The prices were pretty good for the amount of food we got. A woman at the counter, taking my order was helpful and kind. And the interior is decorated perfectly and truly makes you feel like you are in Greece. Unfortunately, my good experience stopped after I left the restaurant. The food was just too mediocre to seek out again. The "herb rice" that was the base of my bowl was white rice with a little bit of what seemed to be chopped oregano mixed in. It was nearly flavorless. The chicken souvlaki had nice flavor, but was dry. The tomatoes were huge chunks of a less than average grocery store tomato. I will say that the house dressing and the spicy feta sauce were both excellent and I would gladly eat those items again. The pita bread was totally fine. We ordered beat hummus as it is a favor of mine, and it tasted spoiled, and neither myself or my toddler could eat more than a bite. The greens on the bowl were either straight arugula, or a mix of arugula and spring greens. I feel like that should be advertised as arugula is such a strong flavor that many do not like (including me). The bathroom was very clean. And parking is easy in the plaza lot. read more

We stopped by El Greco around 5:30pm on a Friday and it was packed--which is always a good sign. It's counter service, so pro tip: have someone grab a table while others order. Inside was small but cute. If you sit on the right side be ready for the line of people waiting for their food to be standing over your table. My wife got the chicken souvlaki pita and enjoyed it, though she said the chicken was slightly salty. I had the gyros plate--you do get two sides (I chose fries and the Mykonos salad), but the protein portion felt a bit small and the meat was more shaved pieces than the typical slices. Still tasty overall, but I don't think it would be hard to add a few onions and tomatoes on top of the plate. The Mykonos salad was actually a standout--super fresh with beets, chickpeas, and feta, and absolutely delicious. A couple downsides: everything is served directly on a plastic tray (not ideal for adding sauce), and the presentation just isn't great. The fries are excellent and the sauces are great, though they charge extra for more than one. Overall, good flavor but nothing that wowed me--I'd probably opt for takeout next time. read more

Located off of Clark Rd i in Sarasota. This spot serves delicious Mediterranean food. It's a small spot, no frills, extremely friendly staff often found in a mall setting like this one. Try their Tzatziki and Spicy Feta spreads as well as the traditional Greek sandwiches all super fresh and ample. This spot can become a favorite real quick. I ordered the classic gyro which came with impeccable gyro meat, tzatziki, onion, tomato, and a pita. The restaurant is quite small but absolutely BEAUTIFUL and reminds me of Greek vibes with lemons and a lot of blue. The food was outstanding and I will definitely be back. It is all about family and how they used to be open in a different location. The service was awesome and the servers were really knowledgeable about the food and history of the restaurant. Really loved El Greco Kitchen & Market. The food is so fresh and full of flavor you can tell everything is made with care. The souvlaki was amazing, and the tzatziki is honestly one of the best I've had. As a Greek, I also really appreciate the market side they carry things like good olive oil, Dodoni feta, kefalograviera, and even pastitsio pasta. It's not easy to find those products in Sarasota, so that stood out to me. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel right at home. Greek cuisine is a favorite of ours, with roots in Chicago, so we were very excited to try El Greco. El Greco's décor is pleasing to the eye and easy to order at counter with food delivered to your table. That being said, the portions were very small, the prices were higher than should be for portion size, and we left there hungry. For 2 people we ordered lemon rice soup (good, Millie's is better), gyros sandwich (meat was shredded, dry and no flavor of lamb at all), Greek Salad fries a (handful in the order). Hopefully the owners will consider the comments from others and make adjustments...they have restaurant experience and we hope they will be successful in the growing Gulf Gate scene. read more

My daughter and I just had lunch here. The place is smartly decorated. While sitting here you feel like you have just been transported to a beachside cafe, but you are in a small quaint strip mall location. Now, the food was absolutely delicious. I am from NY and have lived here since 2008. The Gyro was the best I have ever had! The tzatziki sauce was so fresh and vibrant. The dolmades were delicious and the potatoes too! My daughter had the spicy steak bowl and she let me taste it OMG, another winner! I've never had spicy whipped feta, and I am a huge fan! Please stop by and visit this place. We went into the restaurant and at 6 pm there was a long line. Fortunately we found the last table/ It is a place your orderand then they bring it to your table place. The food was excellent, but the portions were very meager. I the gyro meat was crumbled up but I estimate that it was a little more than 1 ounce There was much pita on the pita plate either.
