Really solid new spot in OCNJ. We were a big party (15 people) and they were able to seat us fairly last minute. The staff was kind and patient despite us coming not long before the restaurant closed. We ordered the nachos, guacamole (made tableside), veggie and chicken fajitas, fish tacos, and chicken enchiladas. Everything was solid and made fresh to order. The veggie fajitas were a favorite of ours! The chicken in the fajitas was dry, but the chicken in the nachos was great. If you're looking for a more authentic vibe in a vacation town, this is it! It's off the boardwalk and right near several other popular OC spots. Great, friendly and quick and homey feeling service. The food itself was all delicious and portions felt right. I saw this guy nearby with what looked like 10 inch high towering maybe nachos? That was pretty unbelievable. The hostess I think it was the owner saw that my family was waiting to be seated and just sat talking outside with her friends instead of seating us. Finally she decided to get up to "help" us. Saw this place a few times and always wanted to try it. So happy I finally got the chance. Started with volcano nachos. Wow they were amazing from presentation to flavor. I had the Baja tacos and loved them. Everyone in our party was very satisfied. Service at this place was top notch. I don't think there was employee that didn't stop by our table to check on our needs or to make sure we were enjoying our food. Even the chef stopped by (funny guy). Everything you would want or need from a casual Mexican restaurant. Food was inexpensive and very reasonably priced. Service was quick and consistent. Every menu item that we ordered tasted incredible. I have very few complaints. Our waitress seemed a little inexperienced, but she was kind and made sure to check on us often. We were somewhat disappointed by the lack of sauces that could be ordered with the food. But none of these issues were enough to discount the overall enjoyable experience and delicious food. We have passed by El Guacamole for years. Finally tried it last night. Why did we wait so long?? The food is incredibly fresh and the staff could not be friendlier. We started with the Queso with chorizo with fresh, warm flour tortilla wraps. Delicious. I had to stop myself from eating more so I could eat my entree. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce and my sister-in-law ordered the beef taco salad. I cleaned my plate and she said her salad was fresh and tasty. We were too stuffed for dessert but definitely next time. Can not wait to return:) read more

Let's start with the bad. They ran out of rice and service was slow on our entrees. Also the second full day of being open so we cut that some slack. We did meet the chef and he apologized and explained the issues. So a long dinner was worth the wait. The food was excellent. Guacamole and street corn to start were on point. We are loyal customers of cinco de Mayo and rojos, but cinco was closed for Father's Day , so we tried El Guacamole. It was just ok and really expensive. The fajitas are $22 here versus $15 for cinco de Mayo and cinco is much more generous with the rice and beans. The fajita meat and veggies sat in a pool of oil. Only get 3 green chile chicken enchiladas versus 4 at cinco. And the steak burrito is about 75% of the size of Rojos but costs $3 more. Probably won't go back read more

My friends and I went to Ocean City for an afternoon stroll and we came upon this hidden gem. The manager greeted us with a friendly smile and a polite greeting. We ordered three (3) appetizers; the traditional homemade Guacamole, Queso Fundido and Elotes (Mexican street corn). These starters were so delicious. I recommend you start your lunch/dinner experience with any of these freshly made starters. My main course was they yummy steak taco salad and my beverage of choice was horchata (rice water) which was so refreshing and yummy. Friendly atmosphere, good location, children are welcome and the manager has good attention to detail. It's a cash only restaurant but there's a ATM at the location. I highly recommend this eatery. Updated review for 2021 season: Unfortunately the food has gone way downhill here. Prior to the season it was a 5, now it struggles to get a 2. There was zero seasoning used in every appetizer and entree. Fajitas were just grilled meat with nothing on them or the peppers/onions. Tinga tacos were only okay (were amazing last year) and chicken nachos also just plain grilled chicken with no seasoning. Even the table side guacamole didn't taste like anything despite all of the ingredients! On the service side, the waitress messed up three orders and it took 1 1/4 hours to be served our entrees! We can look past the service side as an excuse for covid (even though everything is completely opened up), but covid staffing has zero to do with quality of food. No clue if they changed chefs for the season which may have warranted their late opening this season but most certainly they need to change the chef if they want to remain open in the future. While we were there we heard two tables near us complain about their food too. We did inform the staff but zero was done about it unfortunately. This used to be the best Mexican food in town so hopefully they will get it together soon. read more

The guacamole made table side was expensive - but was delicious. Everything else was - ehhh. The steak tacos were so dry, I needed the salsa to make it edible. My husband's steak burrito was the same. Maybe it was a bad night for chopped steak? Our guests each ordered fajitas, and I have to say I've never seen fajitas served with large chunks of veggies before. It looked more like chinese food than mexican food. Worst Mexican restaurant of all time . Gave us one menu to share because they don't have enough for the restaurant. Parts of the menu are marked in red . You can only order what's in red .
