Great food and service. Just a quick stop over the bridge from Philly, this is a cute little spot to pop in for a quick lunch

Heard about this place on several media outlets, so as a soup lover, I had to try it. The place is small, but roomy enough to enjoy your bowls of soup. The soup menu varies, so if you are curious, you may want to call first to see what soups are on the menu. The server was pleasant and very courteous. Once my order was placed, the soup was ready in just a few minutes. Along with the soup the table gets biscuits and butter. I didn't need that since I ordered grilled cheese with my soups. If you like soup, I highly recommend you try the soup flight, which is served with your choice of three (3) soups from the menu. My soup flight consisted of crab bisque, tomato bisque, and New England Clam chowder. I also orders the grilled cheese and the crab cake grilled cheese. All of the soups were hot and delicious. The soups were hot from the top to the bottoms of the bowls. That is a plus because normally soup gets cold, but not these. All remained hot throughout. The grilled cheese was made just like you would make it at home. The bread had a nice brown color and toasted to perfection. It had a great crunch, and it was perfect for dipping in my soup. The crab cake grilled cheese was just as tasty. The crab was nicely seasoned and blended very well with the cheese and toast. This is comfort food for any day. We were finally off on a Saturday, and able to try the soup bar. It's a humble little place, in need of a sprucing up, but very friendly greeting as we entered. We took a table and the server (& the woman at the counter) asked what we'd like, from the chalkboard menu. I had a flight of 3 soups, and my companion had grilled cheese with a cup of tomato soup. I used some of the broth from my chicken orzo to thin out the pea soup which had cooked down a bit, but was very tasty. The soups came with a nice half loaf of warm, crusty, sesame seeded bread & butter- a highlight for me. soda was just brought in a can, but a cup was provided upon request. My only advice to the owner would be to give a coat of paint and some new curtains. Food & service are great. read more

What a find!! Cute little lunch spot with a nice selection ( 8+) of broth and cream-based soups. They offer a soup "flight" of three soups in nice portions or a single large bowl. You can't go wrong with either. We did one flight (potato leek, cream of mushroom, chicken noodle) and two bowls (chicken pot pie and roasted tomato). They were all fantastic! people rave about this place so i had to give it a try! i got the grilled cheese, mushroom soup and the crab bisque it was yummy but i thought it was a little overpriced! all 3 items for $31 which i felt like it was a lot! the grilled cheese was OK, nothing to rave about the mushroom soup was my favorite but i've definitely had better (white dog is my favorite!) and the crab bisque needed more crab :( all in all, i don't think i'll come back here. if it was a little bit cheaper i think it'd be worth it read more

I'll start by saying I really wanted to try this place. I live a couple blocks away. Was home sick today so ordered lunch for myself and husband via Doordash. I ordered Italian wedding soup, crab bisque and tge roast pork sandwich. Right after I paid, I got a call that there is no wedding soup and no roast pork. I relented and got lobster bisque and cheese burger sliders in their place. The SLIDERS were awesome. So good. The crab bisque was ok...a little thick and not a lot of flavor and room temperature but ok. The lobster bisque was not good. It was cold, almost a solid it was so thick and had ZERO FLAVOR. All in all very disappointing because it is $11 to $13 for a pint of soup. I've been wanting to try for over 1 year but it's always closed by the time I get home. This use to be one of my fav spots. We arrived at 11:20, they opened at 11am. They seemed annoyed when we walked in. We were told that they just turned the grill on and it would take at least 30 min to make sandwiches. I have overlooked the subpar service in the past because I really enjoy their food. I hope they see this and make improvements. read more

The The Soup Bar is small, homey and welcoming! I'm always greeted with " Hi, how are you today?" The day's soups, sandwiches, and specials are written on the chalkboard, since everything is fresh and made daily. Chef Ed is magical with even a "humble" grilled cheese sandwich, and his chicken soups are better than my grandmother's! My favorite soup is the Roasted Tomato Bisque, and Chef Ed's Jumbo Lump Crabcakes reign SUPREME over any seafood restaurant! You need to discover for yourself, you'll be a believer! I had never eaten here before but was really craving mushroom soup. I had gone through a third party for delivery which ended up being double the cost as if I had just gotten the soup itself. Well, I've had crabcakes from the Eastern Shore to what I thought was the best, Bobby Chez. There is a new king. Chef Ed at The Soup Bar. I walked in an hour before closing and wanted two crabcakes. He said that they were sold out, so I told him I'd be back next week. "Wait," he said. "Can you come back in twelve minutes? I can get them together by then." I paused. "Ten minutes?" he bargained against himself. "Okay," I said, "I'll be back in twelve minutes." They were waiting on my return. I blanched a bit at the price --- since it was Palmyra --- higher than Bobby, but really less than lesser cakes at the Eastern Shore. As I drove away, I thought, "Well, one and done." How wrong I was. These crab cakes are nothing short of a miracle of engineering. Call Drexel. Call the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. Have them figure out how he holds the crabcake together. There seems to be no other ingredient except the crab. Fabulous. The best I've ever had. Now to try the soup next time... read more

Local gem!! The food here is amazing!! Crab cake grilled cheese is out of this world. There are huge pieces of lump crab meat and it is just cooked to perfection! The crab bisque is the best I ever had. Hands down. Rich in flavor and filled with crab meat. Everything you could want in a crab bisque. The soup burger... that's a burger alright. I love that you can see that the burger patty was made from hand, not some frozen patty that got tossed on a grill. Very impressed and will be ordering again!! Highly recommend to everyone!
