Salsa has the "one more bite" type heat! Walk in and transport to a Mexico vibe with cement floors, open floor plan for the entire family to come with you. Man I'm not a huge fan of this style of birria, but my grandparents really wanted to come here. Damn was it delicious! This place is not fancy, and is very much like the birreria spots in Mexico, including the funky goat smell which is what puts me off. However, after I had a bite of their soft birria my mind was blown. This was the cleanest tasting goat ever. The consomé with garbanzo beans was a great way to start the meal. I crushed like 4 tacos and then started adding birria into the broth to make somewhat of a soup. This place serves the humblest of food, but they absolutely do it right. They have a great staff that hustle. If you want to try something different, I suggest venturing out to this absolutely gem. read more

I went in wanting a carne asada burrito, they don't sell burritos. So I ordered 4 carne asada tacos. No flavor whatsoever. They put the salsa in a small container but by the time I got back to work I had to pour the salsa out of the plastic bag as they didn't seal it properly. This awesome place is only open until 2:00pm. It's very authentic, definitely feels as though you've been teleported to Mexico. As soon as we walked in I noticed a mariachi, and then I noticed I was the only non Hispanic. The place was packed & the building itself could use some serious cosmetic work. So this review is 100% about the food not about the ambiance which is very authentic, but it could use some repairs. But with that said the food is 100% worth trying!! The birria (Goat meat) with consommé (A dipping sauce for your tacos) is phenomenal. The birria here is the best I've found in the city. They do have an extensive menu so you can order multiple things (Carne asada, Pastor, etc) however some birria with consome is highly recommended. The birria, or other meats can be ordered multiple ways, in a quesadilla, on a Torta, in soup, on a taco or... by the pound with tortillas. We got 2 quesadillas & a 1/2 pound of birria. The food was really delicious. I did find 3 small bones in the half pound so be careful. They cook birria for a long time and sometimes all the bones are hard to find because they cook down, beware . The red salsa here is also worth mentioning~ it's wonderful! Lastly they have cafe de olla (A really good traditional cinnamon flavored coffee in Mexico). If you like sweet coffee, definitely try it. Scared to do so I finally stopped by and do I have many years of regret not coming here sooner. I don't even feel guilty swapping places for get Birria- the consome is so flavourful ! Been craving some Birria Queso tacos, decided to have some for lunch today. These aren't too bad. I am used to the traditional dipping in the broth before frying the taco. These are not, they also aren't too toasty.. definitely more a taco. The broth is also something extremely different, it has chickpeas and has no color or spice to it when you dip in the taco..It's good but if you already know what you are looking for and are used to a traditional version, this may not be the place. You can get your Birria steamed or Tatemada (they fry it up a bit right out of the steamer) I recommend the Tatemada. It has great flavor! I like the birria stew, but I really like the plain meat best, and you can get a half pound of rib meat off the bone and make yourself some fantastic tacos with the included tortillas and fixings. Loved my meal. Be warned, the rib meat is fatty. The garbanzo consomme was tasty, especially the garbanzos which soak up tons of flavor. Had a very nice Jamaica to drink.
