To wrap up my birthday weekend visit, this was the finale. This came highly recommended and is the top result when you search rooftop restaurants. So I ran to Open Table and made a reservation. We wanted to catch the views at sunset and stay for the nighttime air so we made it for 7:45 PM. The ride share drops you to The Global Ambassador Hotel, where you take the elevator to the Thea level - floor 6. This hotel is gorgeous and has such an alluring atmosphere from the hotel lobby bar and Thea Rooftop. We checked in with the hostess a little early so took the time to walk the patio, take photos and admire the views before our indoor dining table was ready. For a Sunday evening it was very busy with private groups, large tables, couples, the bar was packed. Our table was in the middle of the house to view everything. Our server, Dylan, was hospitable, friendly and attentive. He welcomed us, told us more about the mezze style plates and recommended drinks. We got the frozen Paloma and Froze. Very good and refreshing for these Arizona Summer nights. For our starters, calamari and Greek fries. Then dinner was the Greek salad and lamb pita. Everything was very fresh and tasty. That feta cheese in the salad was amazing and the quality of lamb was excellent. We enjoyed it all! Then the finale was my lemon pound cake with whipped cream and raspberry & lemon compote. We booked Théa again for our wedding anniversary this past weekend, as we came last year and were thoroughly impressed with the overall quality and service at the restaurant. This year my wife wanted to come back again so I made the arrangement. Our reservation was made about 3.5 weeks out and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening with a great meal - who doesn't! We arrived to find the place absolutely packed with people who looked like they had been poolside all day! While I totally understand Arizona summers, some of the ladies outfits on display certainly were more meant for poolside rather than table-side - questionable decisions must have been made, but I digress! Regardless, we were seated after waiting about 10 minutes for our table. There were also several other parties who had checked in who were also awaiting their tables to be ready, some small and some larger in number. We were brought table water pretty quickly and our server for the evening followed soon after, introducing himself. We ordered a cocktail while browsing the menu for dinner, but knew we would go with the Goddess of Dips, which is absolutely amazing. Cannot go wrong with this delicious appetizer! But you really need more than 2 people to eat it - its huge! Our server brought us 2 glasses of sparkling to cheer our anniversary which was a nice touch - and much appreciated. We decided just to order the chicken souvlaki skewer (a single skewer) and that was it. As it was our anniversary, they also kindly brought out a small dessert to share between us, which was very nice. While visiting a friend in Phoenix for a long weekend, we stopped at Théa, the rooftop restaurant and bar at the Global Ambassador Hotel. The Global Ambassador is one of Phoenix's newer luxury hotels, having opened in 2023. It is somewhat tucked away along Camelback Road and easy to miss from the road. We visited on a Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m., and the restaurant was packed. Our original plan was to have a drink at the outdoor bar, but it was closed that evening, and the outdoor seating was reserved for dining guests. It was also quite hot outside, so we opted to sit at the indoor bar instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is large, rectangular, and has seating on three sides, making it a great spot even when the restaurant is busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Decadent Spicy Margarita ($19) and my friend got the sparkling rosé ($18). The margarita was excellent, made with pineapple, espelette pepper, and spicy lava salt, and it was a nice mix of sweet and spicy. The views here are absolutely gorgeous, and I can definitely see why this place is so popular for the ambiance. I was visiting Scottsdale for work and had several people recommend it to me. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and my server was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, checked on me regularly, and even made me an amazing drink that I really enjoyed. That said, I have to agree with many of the other reviews--the food was pretty average, especially considering the price point. The portions were also surprisingly small. Came here for my friends birthday and it was a great experience! They put us in the private room so all of us can fit together. Our server was very kind and helpful with directing us to our food and drinks. The goddess of dips was an amazing starter! We were able to try all the different dips with different breads! Dinner at Thea was a whole experience, and a big part of that was thanks to Joseph, who might genuinely be the best server I've had all year. Attentive, warm, and effortlessly on top of everything, he set the tone for the night in the best way. I ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak, and while it was cooked well, the dish itself didn't really stand out. The flavors were fine, just not as memorable as I hoped for a signature entrée. On the flip side, the fried calamari was a total win, perfectly cooked, lightly crisp, and seasoned with a flavor that made it hard to stop reaching for more. Dessert ended things on a high note. I checked out thea for my birthday dinner on a Sunday. Located on the rooftop of the Global Ambassador Hotel, this Mediterranean restaurant was quite the experience. Parking is valet only, but since I'm not about that life, I found some parking on the street in a residential neighborhood five minutes away on foot. Ambiance (5/5): Definitely one of the areas in which thea shines. While they have both an indoor and outdoor area, I highly recommend sitting outside on the rooftop. If you do, you'll experience scenic views of the mountains in the background. If you can catch a sunset here, even better. Outside of the views, the restaurant has the fresh decor you would expect from a Mediterranean/Greek restaurant. There's also an outdoor area, and an indoor bar area, if you're just looking for drinks. Service (5/5): Attentive, friendly, and efficient service. Exactly what I was hoping for, especially on my birthday. They were kind enough to hook me up with a dessert for my special day. Much appreciated! Drinks (4.5/5): A full bar with a nice wine list and an interesting cocktail menu. I split a bottle of wine with my parents, but also started off with a refreshing cocktail. Food (5/5): I started off with the flaming saganaki because how can you say no to cheese flambeed table side. Dinner with a little entertainment. If you've never had saganaki cheese, it's a delicious Greek cheese. Pair it with some pita bread and you have yourself a delicious app. From there, I had the grilled skirt steak with crushed potatoes. Naturally, I ordered my steak medium rare. The skirt steak was sliced and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were well seasoned and paired nicely with the steak. All in all, a perfect meal. My parents similarly had great things to say about their selections. Thea isn't cheap. And it does have the see and be seen type of vibe which I'm not a big fan of. Yet, despite all of that, it's an excellent dining experience all-around. Made a reservation for Friday for 3 people the Sunday prior. The only available times were either 4:15pm or 8:30pm. We went with 4:15pm. It was not super busy when we arrived. We were seated outside and they had misters on full blast to help mitigate the heat. The views at Thea are spectacular. From one side you can see downtown Phoenix, and from the other you can see Camelback Mountain. Our server took our drink order quickly, but it took a significant amount of time for our drinks to actually arrive. I ordered the Peach Bisous, which is a mocktail. I have had it before here, and it is a favorite of mine. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the food menu, which was great. We ordered the Baba Ghanoush as a shared plate to start. It took about 15 minutes to arrive. After we finished the pita bread it came with, we asked our server for more. This second portion did not arrive until after we finished our entrees. As my entree, I ordered the Crispy Falafel and Sumac Yams. This took about 20 minutes to arrive. Overall, the Falafel was good. It came with a spicy dollop on top which I asked my server to put on the side (that did not happen despite me being incredibly clear I did not want anything spicy on the dish). The Yams were delicious. It took me by surprise how good they were. One annoying thing was how often we had servers and busboys trying to take our plates before we had finished everything. It happened multiple times throughout the course of our meal and made us feel like we were being rushed. Overall, service was decent. The speed of service was below average, which was ironic given the fact that we felt they were trying to rush us. The food was above average, and the views are spectacular. read more

Last minute decision to go to Global Ambassador and so glad we did! I had only been once before during a calm weekday happy hour so this was a completely different vibe. This time it was packed with security at the door and a full reservation line. We didn't have a reservation but were able to grab a high top by the indoor bar. Layla was our waitress and she was fantastic and very attentive even with how busy it was. We were there from about 9 to 1130 and it definitely felt like the place to be. The food and service were both great despite how crowded it was. Highly recommend the spicy tuna roll, beef dumplings, and chicken kebab. The rice with the kebab was especially flavorful. Chasing sunsets at Thea! We had a lovely time at Thea. The Global Ambassador Hotel is definitely a hot spot in the Biltmore area. Make sure you book reservations prior to secure a table. They will validate parking if you park at The Bergen across the street. However, that garage is packed, so we ended up paying $10 to valet. You can pay the valet with card or Venmo, which is extremely convenient. The views from the rooftop are absolutely stunning. You have a panoramic view of Camelback Mountain and other mountains around the valley. If you sit on the patio, expect heavy traffic. There will be hotel guest walking back and forth from the rooftop hotel bar. So the drinks & food are pricey, but the food was DELICIOUS! I was impressed with the turkish meatballs & shrimp scorpio. Everything was packed with flavor. We also enjoyed the calamari & brussel sprouts. The atmosphere was gorgeous, and I would recommend checking out Thea at least once while you're in Arizona! read more

Overall score 3.5. I did research of best restaurants in Phoenix with a view, and Thea certainly topped the list. While the mountain views and patio vibes were as billed, unfortunately the food missed the mark for us. First, I've never been to any place claiming to have 'brunch' without any actual breakfast items - might as well just call it lunch, but oh well. Thea claims to be Mediterranean and its dishes are meant to share for two. The menu was a juxtaposition of several countries' dishes, including Greek, Italian, and even Japanese (sushi). - Drinks: We ordered the frose sangria, spicy margarita and a dirty Titos martini. The marg was the highlight, while the martini was good but I thought overpriced at $22, and the frose was ok but a bit overpowered by the aperol not common in sangria. - Apps: We got the hummus and muhammara. Both came in small bowls with sliced pita, with an extra plate of pita provided. I wouldn't say these were exactly large enough for two, and actually on the smaller side compared to other places that offer larger portions of the same dips for the same price. The muhammara was a bit overspiced which overpowered the taste of the red pepper. - Sushi: We got the crispy tuna rice, which was probably the smallest portion I've ever seen. The bigger disappointment was it was sitting in a sauce that made the rice soggy and not very crispy, while the dollop of tuna wasn't spicy, and the dish was also overpowered by sesame seeds on top. We also got the Over the Rainbow roll which was dull and flavorless, akin to a similar roll you would get in a grocery store for much cheaper. The roll also included cucumbers which would have been good to mention on the menu for those that don't like it. If you're a Mediterranean place also pulling off sushi, it better be executed really well, and both of the ones we ordered were just basic. - Flatbreads: The flatbreads were decent, we got both the margherita and the parma. Both tasted good and had fresh ingredients, with the parma a bit on the salty side because of the prosciutto. - Service and ambiance were good. Our server was attentive and dishes were delivered timely. The mountain views definitely created a pretty patio setting. Price point of dishes overall was on the pricier side, but expected for the area and the fact that it's in the Global Ambassador. I could best describe Thea as an Instagrammable type of place where young people posing for pics to the backdrop was the vibe. read more

If you're in Phoenix around the Global Ambassador hotel, you absolutely have to come to this restaurant. The views are amazing. The food is amazing. The servers are kind and very attentive, friendly and amendable to your needs. While this is Phoenix, it can get very hot if you sit on the outdoor patio, they have misters to keep you cool. I recommend going at sunset to see the sun set over Camelback Mountain. You have to have the whip Ricardo as your appetizer. read more

Beautiful venue on the rooftop of the Global Ambassador hotel. Very nice ambience. The only issue is if you're sitting outside on a cold windy day like we were. The heaters were not enough and people were wearing their coats. They do have some throws which helped a little. Service was great. The food was delicious for the most part. Very tasty and flavorful. We tried a lot of different dishes- muhammara, spicy tuna and crispy rice (very good), yellowtail and avocado (excellent!), Mediterranean olives, crispy falafel for appetizers. For dinner- open face lamb pita (which is basically a gyro sandwich but smaller x 2 pieces), roasted branzino (in a Mediterranean style sauce- sooo good). However, the mixed grill was really disappointing. The price is high and definitely not worth the money, you get a few small pieces of meet and some pita. I can't believe we paid $85 for that. Would skip that one. Overall a nice dinner. Would visit again. read more
