Nice staff. Salsa and cheese dip lacked flavor. Meal was just okay. They definitely skimped on the meats and packed on the rice and beans. Shrimp was the only thing with decent flavor. Don't feel like we need to return to this restaurant. Bummer this was a convenient location to eat. read more

Their salsa is absolutely my favorite salsa on the planet. We've been here several times, and I like the vaca bandida. However, the men in the family always have a burrito California. Fajitas are always good, too. The only negative experience we ever had was one time when we were seated in the bar. There was loud rap music playing, and they forgot about us. I often call this establishment to order lunch and have enjoyed dinner here as well . I have no complaint about the food itself. HOWEVER CARRY-OUT DINERS BEWARE: The restaurant offers lunch portions with altered pricing. I have noticed in the last 6 months that no matter what I ask for when I call to place my order at lunch I am charged dinner prices but receive lunch portions. When I asked the cashier why I am being charged dinner prices I was told that "its our policy for carry-out" I already paid extra so that myself and my coworker could have our own bag of chips... if you place the orders separate you would get a bag of chips in each order. This was hit & miss for us. 6 of us ate there last night. The menu could be better arranged, for example salads had a spot in front but other salads were found in places throughout the menu. Salsa is plain and runny, needs chunks. Cheese sauce is a plain and a bit runny Guac is excellent, lumpy & delicious! Most the dishes had rice & beans - beans are pureed however the rice was better than others Beer selection- need to get some interesting beer Herradero special - Tamale was ok, enchilada was ok, taco ok Pollo a la Vallarta- A bit over salted, shrimp was cooked perfect, chicKen was fine. ChicKen strips were good, fries large and done well many more than can eat. ChicKen fajita - very good and nice serving. Spinach enchilada - excellent! A nice serving of spinach covered with the cheese sauce. Delicious. Look at the specials- Monday was 20% off for us. Service was quick and attentive. read more

A new restaurant, well decorated. Ordered a supper special for lunch #14 burrito enchilada tamale, was delivered quickly after ordered. Plate was extremely hot, which server notified me about. Tamale was soft and delicious, interesting spice in the beef mixture for the burrito and enchilada. Server came around several times during the meal to make sure everything was fine. Only minor complaints were that the chips and salsa (pre meal) salsa is puree and bland, and I found several tomato skins in the red sauce (minor complaint, but means they actually used tomatoes instead of just a "sauce"). This was our first time here with a table for four. My wife got the steak and shrimp which was delicious even though we eat keto and ordered it without rice, beans or tortillas. I ordered the chicken fajitas with the same items deleted. Mine was also delicious. I mixed the guacamole with pico de gallo and had it with my meal. My son had the shrimp chimichanga. He said it was good. My mother-in-law has restrictions as she is diabetic and also can't have dairy. She too was very satisfied with her meal. Due to the fact that we had many deletions and substitutions for three of our meals, they got all of our orders right the first time. I would normally give a restaurant four stars but everything was neat clean and organized the wait staff was very friendly And we had a fantastic time. This is our new go to Mexican restaurant in the Troy, Piqua, Covington area. read more

Went here for a homecoming dinner. We were greeted and sat very quickly. The service was great and very attentive. Our glasses never went empty and the food arrived very quick. The atmosphere was nice and wasn't too expensive. I ordered the bean burritos and they were good but a little plain. My date got a sampler of different dishes and he thought they were all great. Appalling restaurant. While visiting family in Ohio they suggested El Herradero for dinner since they would accept a table of 6 during the COVID 19 pandemic. The owners did not take any precautions for the virus, all of the tables in the main dining room were full, so no social distancing, the laminated menus we still being used and not being cleaned after every use, paper menus were not available, shared condiments were on every table, no sanitation gel anywhere and the restroom was filthy. One good thing is that all employees wore masks, however patrons did not upon entering the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, and the waiter forgot one of our dining guests cocktail and offered no excuse, the manager walked by several times and would not look our way even though we attempted to get his attention.
