Few places deserve the distinction of being THE BEST. As a matter of fact I do not think I have ever proclaimed that any other restaurant I have been to was the best. However, I can easily say that El Infierno Restaurant is the best place for menudo in all of Los Angeles. I do not remember exactly how I found out about El Infierno. There must be a story behind it and every BEST place must have a story behind it. All I remember is that my mother brought me here long ago. How she found out about it I don't know. The thing is that El Infierno is not exactly near my old neighborhood of Downey. It may not be close to where I lived but it has always been worth the trip. El Infierno is for true fans of great menudo. It is in an absolutely hole in the wall place. Let that be a warning for those that are not adventurous. Their location has changed since I first ate their delicious food. Now they are in a bigger location. There really isn't any decor. Just a large CHIVAS (a popular Mexican soccer team) wall decoration. The place is clean and proudly boasts a big blue "A" for cleanliness. People come with their pots to take some of the great menudo they make here. Let me tell you that their menudo is delicious in every way. The nice red broth is extremely tasty and not very greasy at all. The tripe and tendon is delicious. It's cleaned properly and it is fresh. The meat is not fatty at all as it is at many other places. My only gripe is that the tendon is a bit overcooked. They also sell tamales de elote or "corn tamales". These are not filled with anything. They are just made of corn but not the typical masa everyone is familiar with as tamales de elote are somewhat sweet. They taste something like creamed corn. They make them almost perfectly here. They should be more moist really but still they are really delicious here. They sell Mexican coke and other colas here. They go really well with the menudo. This place is worth the drive. It's that good! Parking is not really an issue as they have a little lot. read more

The service is horrible. They treat you like another dollar Instead of a customer. I got kicked out today because my wife and kids were sitting at an empty table as I placed my order. The guy made them get up to sit other customers. He started belittling me and told me he would not be serving us. I told him I wouldn't give them my money anymore and I would place a review on Yelp for people to see. He asked if I was threatening him by writing the review and I told him that yes, I will be writing the review because people will see that customer service Is more important than money.
