We've eaten here twice, once w/our best friends, at their suggestion; and then one more time to give it one more shot. The chips and salsa are great but our entrees weren't very good. We had chicken & beef fajitas and chicken tacos. The dining room was way too loud and we couldn't even hear each other or have a nice dinner conversation. We'll be heading back to Sol Azteca, as we've never had a bad meal or bad experience there. read more

It's a comfort Mexican restaurant with surprisingly friendly staff. The food is good but exactly what one might expect for restaurants like this. The ceiling interior is unique for the small restaurant and while it's not my favorite Mexican restaurant there's nothing to complain about and matches all my expectations. read more

Found this gem while passing through Sweetwater. Not far from the little downtown area, this place sits a little off Main St. We walked in and were greeted by cute Halloween decorations. Some of the servers had on costumes. It was great. We were seated and our drink order was taken right away. Chips and salsa were brought right away. The chips were nice and warm and not greasy at all. The salsa was delicious, but not hot. My husband and I split the Pollo Don Jorge, which had everything on my meal checklist- chicken, veggies and cheese. It was served on a bed of rice. It was so much food that we split it and still took leftovers home! We would definitely come back here to eat if we're in the area. The service was great and the music was quietly playing in the background- not intrusive at all. The little town of Sweetwater is very cute and inviting too. read more

This restaurant was very good once upon a time however it has slowly gone downhill since 2020. We were there tonight expecting at least a decent meal but were thoroughly disappointed. The margarita had the flavor with very little alcohol. That would have been fine however the charge was for an alcoholic beverage. Now on to the food......quesadilla meal was nothing more than a large flour taco shell felled with variety of steak, chicken and shrimp with hardly any seasoning and the entire meal was barely war let alone hot. The steak/onion chimichanga I ordered was again barely warm and the steak had no seasoning. Service started out fast but once the food was delivered we never saw anyone again. Actually had to request the bill. Since we are nice people we ate what we could, left most, paid the bill and left. This was our very last trip to this restaurant and would never recommend it to anyone. In my opinion we threw $43.00 in the trash. I could have heated a microwave burrito for a more satisfying meal. read more

Typical middle of the road Tex-Mex restaurant. Food wasn't bad, lots of it, and the service was okay, not particularly friendly, but adequate. The house-made salsa was good; just the right amount of heat and no lumps of tomato as someone else said. The refried beans had some texture to them, not the usual puree. Can't complain really, except we didn't appreciate the fat guy sitting next to us rolling up the flatware in paper napkins. Can't they find somewhere out of site to do that? read more

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in sweetwater. Looks small and average from the outside. But inside there is plenty of seating and nice Mexican decor. They have also added a small patio out front. Never had an issue with the food or service. They run taco Tuesday which has $1 chicken or beef tacos. Wednesday is usually trivia night. And they do run other specials throughout the week. Great local restaurant and owners which supports its community too. read more

Best salsa ever! Small hometown place, located right downtown with plenty of parking. The menu is pretty basic but everything arrives quickly and is fresh. Prices are reasonable. It's a smaller place with only a few tables for larger parties and they have issues with their air so it does get a little warm. read more

It's crazy how much can change in just one month! I was a frequent customer and always ordered two of their vegetarian fajitas for my family with no cheese and sour cream and it was always under $20 for both after tax which is a wonderful deal. Now one month later the two meals are over $25 after tax. I understand about covid but this price hike is too much. Also the last straw for me was they charged my $1.25 for REMOVING cheese and sour cream from my orders. They clearly don't care about their customers anymore and it's all about the all mighty dollar. Pretty good Mexican food not the best in Monroe county, but pretty good when you get that Mexican food urge.

This place is very hit or miss. When they do well, it is pretty good. When they don't do well, it is horrid. Today I got my food wrong, burnt, and with some soap in it. At first the food was just wrong and burnt. I didn't want to have to deal with them again today so I just ate the nasty food. Then I ate some soap and threw it away. I wish I could say they had at least a 50% good to bad ratio, but you get nasty over or under cooked food that is incorrect about 60%-75% of the time. Also the steak is always overcooked. No matter what, if you get something with steak in it, get ready to chew on leather. Now with all that being said, Customer service is out of this world. Anytime we have complained about the food it is fixed without hassle and most of the time it is even cooked better when you just return an incorrect order. I wouldn't recommend this place, but also Sweetwater is a small town with not much to choose from. read more

We got takeout. The food was really expensive. The cheese dip was a very tiny container, and it was $5 or $6. The bag of chips looked like it was from the bottom of the barrel. They were all crunched up chips. No full size chips, just lots of tiny chip fragments. I got pollo loco (grilled chicken with rice and cheese). It was $12. The chicken was just plain unflavored chicken! Everywhere else, the chicken is flavored and you can see the grill marks on it. This was just plain looking white chicken with no flavor. It really looked like plain boiled chicken. I had to add my expensive tiny cheese dip just to flavor it. Overall, very very disappointing. read more

YUK is the word to describe this disaster.Just left today after going to Sweetwater Assembly of God Church for Sunday services. Went there on a recommidation of a church member. All 7 of us were very dissappointed in the whole experience. From the very bland free chips and weirdly tasting salsa, the out entrees. I hads the Platter for 2, the best wqay to put it. We both thought the tacos-rellano-tamale, etc were bad ,NO flavor,red sauce and the beans-rice, etc were just bad. Everyone else had fajitas, and they all left most uneaten, POLace was NOT packed out, so cooks being swamped was not the issue, the issue is the staff has no clue what Mexican food is. Bahahha, I wanted the Huevos Rancheros, but when I read the menu description, when it said, 2 eggs in tomato sauce!!!! yep, tomato sauce, I knew this place was nasty.Server was nice and quick, prices are nice and on the cheaper side. If you're driving thru Sweetwater, stop in "The Humble House" for some fairly credible Mexican food. Chips are fresh and served warm with a tasty if mild salsa. Nice variety of lunch specials. Clean with pleasant servers. Will stop in again! read more

The chips were good. The salsa bland with big lumps of tomato. I found something in my beans that was a small size of a rock broke into pieces. It was black and gritty basically ruined my meal. The waiter never refilled chips. The waiter was slow. The steak was seasoned good but tough. I guess Chuy's in Knoxville has our family spoiled. read more
