The staff is SO nice and accommodating. We were greeted promptly and happily. We asked our server, Ciara, a bunch of questions and she happily answered them. This is a nice little spot, tucked away in the shopping plaza. I believe I ordered the Camarones al Ajillo and the margarita flights. The food was good, though it felt like an onion/mushroom overload. There were way more of the vegetables than there were of the actual meant. Alongside that, I didn't have much rice and beans, so the meal felt very disproportionate, causing me to have to ration my portions. It would be nice had I received more meat, more rice and beans and less of the vegetables, which seemed to be a filler. The flights were good as well, the best flavor being coconut (of course!) and they had a good amount of liquor. We received complimentary shots as well and our waiter was very nice and attentive. Came in tight when they opened for brunch the host Carlos welcomed us and we got seated right away. Our waiter also came to get us our drink orders and bring us chips with salsa. There was great music playing and the ambiance was easy going. We got our drinks right away and got to chat and relax while waiting for our food. Carlos was in top of making sure we were good or if we needed anything. Once we got our food, it was pretty decent. Someone order steak which was great and the shrimp as well. The enchiladas for my taste could have been cooked a little longer but they were still good. Would definitely come back, service was excellent and we felt very comfortable eating. read more

In a town that already has a great selection of Spanish food this place definitely adds a great ambience to an already stellar menu. Definitely family-friendly, definitely great for big groups and they even have entertainment on the weekends. Plenty of parking out front but it might get a little jammed with the planet Fitness / January Fitness crowd jumping in right now. Tried the mixed appetizer plate before the entrees and I think the appetizer plate would have been perfect but you can also take home. I don't know if I was a the same restaurant as everyone else. I mean the pictures were exactly as shared by others so I'm positive I was in the same restaurant but boy was my experience vastly different that the majority of Yelpers. Service here was dreadful!! They were slightly busy but if I have to wait 30 mins please tell me to wait 30 mins until things calm down but don't sit me down to have me wait forever just for water. Instead I was seated for about 15-20 mins before anyone even acknowledged my existence, thankfully my table knew what we wanted to order so that we weren't left waiting after getting a glass of water. Food came out fairly quickly and for the amount of time I waited for the food I can't say it was worth the wait. I got the traditional Mexican tacos with chicken, cilantro and onions that came with either a toasted taco shell or an old stale shell, I hope to god it was simply toasted and not old but if tasted super dry (not fresh). The best part of my meal was the free tortilla chips they put on the table when I arrived, oh and the empanadas...those were the bomb but damn they're expensive! Expensive empanadas aren't unique to this place as other Spanish spots charge a premium for those things which makes them an insane amount of profit since it doesn't take much meat and dough to create those tasty things. I'm going to say your milage here might vary and if you are clueless about real Spanish food then you just might love this place. But I will say Spanish food isn't supposed to taste bland, tasteless and just not yummy at all. There's a reason my Spanish family tends to struggle with obesity, because our Spanish food is so damn good we can't stop eating it. Well here at El Jalapeño you won't have to worry about the waistline because you will want to stop eating their slop unless you're paying a small fortune for the empanadas. We were tricked into trying this place by the over 4 star reviews but it's nothing special. This is our first time here and we won't be back! The food was mediocre at best no meat & I mena maybe 1 tablespoon if that much in their ground beef burrito - all rice beans and lettuce-no cheese. My sizzling fajita had no sizzle the chizaro fondue was a tiny portion and had about an 5 tablespoons of grease in it. The manager and wait staff were attentive at first -but lost that by making me hunt down the waiter to get the check & leave - he brought me a to-go container- he had to know we were ready to leave or have dessert instead we were deserted! WTF why do so many restaurants fail at this step?!?! While we're waiting for our check our waiter is wrestling around in the closet across the restaurant and when he's done he makes a bee line for the back where I intercepted him and handed him my card. Wife and I always feel welcome here. The staff is friendly and takes great care of their customers. The decor is pleasant, and noise levels are low even when full of customers. Charro Bowl Rice, black beans, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream served in a taco bowl, option of shredded beef, shredded chicken or ground beef. I normally order shredded beef chimichangas or flautas, but a friend introduced me to tacos de birria last month. Had to order it again before wife and I move to Germany next week (doubt I will find this dish there). Dipping a crispy birria beef taco into its own beef broth is amazing. Can also get it as a quesadilla. Tacos De Birria Handmade corn tortilla stuffed birria meat and melted cheese, topped with cilantro and onion, served with birria broth. COVID-19 protocols are in place, masks have to be worn inside the restaurant, the staff is wearing masks, hand sanitizer is available. The restaurant is clean, very nicely decorated. Authentic mexican decor. The chairs are hand made and imported from Mexico. The staff is very friendly and eager to make sure that the dining experience is one that is enjoyed. I really like the ambiance - very festive, but also very typical of many local Mexican -based restaurants here in the mid-Hudson valley now (there's a LOT of Mexican eateries nowadays). The staff has always been very friendly, although sometimes their attention is not always on the customers as strongly as it should be. The food is OK - some dishes are rather tasty, others are kind of bland or just miss the mark altogether. For instance, I love Chicken Tortilla soup. I've had it MANY times over the years at many different places. El Jalapeño Charro makes it like I've never had it before, and in my opinion it is not good. I ordered it once, and I never will again. It had large potato chunks in it (????) and way TOO many tortilla strips. All filler. There was hardly any chicken in the soup. Just not good. Also, the refried beans are always rather bland, and the salsa is oddly prepared, too. It tastes like a pizza sauce meets a southwestern salsa to me. This time I had the House Margarita. Which was just perfect. Than I had the "Trio Enchiladas" which was absolutely delicious! My waiter, Carlos , was very attentive and very pleasant to talk to.
