We were at a family reunion and it was suggested to try this place for lunch. We had around 30 people and they handled the crowd tremendously. The service was so good. My husband and I were in the area for business and saw the reviews for this place and decided to give them a try. They really stand out in this (very) small town. It was clean, well lit, and full of people. Our waiter was very kind and polite, the food came out very fast. If this is one of my first reviews you've read I must tell you: I've got a sensitive stomach, so I have to be careful. My husband has a stomach of steel, like most people. Neither of us ate much of our food and we left quickly. Let's leave it at that. I don't like giving bad reviews but someone has to warn those who are traveling through. This was a great dinner spot while staying at Robbers Cave State Park. The food was really good but it's the wait staff really made our experience memorable. Loved interacting with them and they were the perfect amount of attentive. Couldn't pass up the margarita price as well for a 27 oz. Solid Mexican food for eastern OK. Our family of six (visiting from AZ) ate lunch here following a hike at Robbers Cave. Started with fresh guacamole and warm chips and salsa. So tasty. Everyone in our party order from the lunch menu, which were smaller portions but still plenty for a lunch appetite and not too costly. The taco salad was delicious. The chile rellenos were decent, albeit a bit soggy. The street tacos were good- we ordered the carne asada. The rest our our party got enchiladas, beans and rice. If you find yourself looking for dinner while in Wilburton, OK, go to El Jimador. As you walk in look for a sandwich board with their specials. When I went, they had 27oz Margaritas for $5 and 32oz beers for $4. The margarita was likely made with a standard tequila and not top shelf, but mixed in a margarita, I'm not sure I'd notice. The beer was not a craft microbrew either, but at those prices, you can't go wrong and you will be very happy. The food is good too (I shouldn't make a review about purely the drinks . . what would you think of me?) The food was of good quality and tasted authentically Mexican and doesn't break the bank. The ambience was nothing special, and what you would expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. I don't know if they stepped up their cleaning because of Covid (July 2021) or we stopped by during their weekly cleaning, but they did a thorough job even dusting the paintings on the wall. My wife and I were in town for one night for a romantic get away, but after eating dinner at El Jimador, we were up all night at our hotel with the shits. My wife didn't even eat meat. The food is OK. I am a native Texan traveling with my Husband whose family lives here. I would recommend a yellow cheese dip that would go over much better than the white. We ate at the restaurant on Tuesday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was WONDERFUL!!! Reasonably priced, and it was really good food. The service was wonderful!!! The birthday celebration was topped off by them all singing Happy Birthday complete with a sombrero and sopapilla for the birthday boy!!!! The restaurant was very clean, decorated well and we will definitely come back!! We will have to drive over from McAlester but because of hotel problems, we won't stay there!! Loved it!! The food is mediocre. It's not terrible, but it's not good. The portions are good, but the sauces are bland and everything from the tortillas to the sauces look just like they came directly from a can or a jar purchased from the local grocery store. This would explain why it's served so quickly. It's about exactly what I could produce at home with little effort using nothing but off-the-shelf ingredients, which is good at home with my own efforts, but less than I expect when visiting a Restaurant and paying a premium. read more

There isn't much to choose from in Wilburton...outside of the fast food type places. I was in the area, had planned on going to a different place, that is now closed, so picked El Jimador mostly out of a lack of anywhere else to eat. It was a great happenstance for me. I've eaten here three times. Each time the food has been great. The restaurant is always clean, service is good, food arrives quickly.
