    2020 Whole Cluster Syrah. Sensational!

Mike poured us amazing wines & we had such a warm, luxurious visit at El Lugar. Our 1st time visiting SLO for my 50th birthday & I could not have had a better welcome to their wine region. Thanks Mike!

Outstanding Pinots and Syrah. Blew us away, the last winery we loved every single wine was Woodenhead up in Napa/Sonoma. Coby sounds like a great up and coming wine maker! He's friends with everyone - Josh @ Timbre and Tally! What a great community we have here in SLO. Happy to support and we just signed up to become members. Outstanding!

If you love Pinot Noir.....you'll love El Lugar. The first time I discovered EL Lugar it was at one of the Central Coast's many wine festivals. Coby, the winemaker almost has a cult following. Knowing his wines is like being in on a well kept secret. What originally drew me in was their Pinot Noir Blanc. It was like discovering a brand new varietal. Who knew you could make a white wine with Pinot Noir? I'm more of a red wine type of guy, but this Pinot Noir is going to be my new warm weather favorite. Now I wrote earlier that El Lugar is all about Pinot. Coby makes some of the best Pinot Noir on the Central Coast that I've ever tasted. So good that we're now wine club members.

We usually like Saucelito Zinfandels, but would switch to Coby's label in a heartbeat.

We were also fortunate enough to get some nice sunny weather on our visit. The outdoor seating was perfect for the weather. It did get a little windy later in the afternoon so I suggest you bring a jacket just in case if it gets chilly. On top of the scenery the service was great as well. The host greeted us and sat us right away. We ordered the wine flight since this is our first time at this vineyard we wanted to try everything. The wine connoisseur was really friendly, did a great job explaining each wine and timed out each pour perfectly. My personal favorite was the Chardonnay. Next time we're visiting the area we'll certainly be back for another wine tasting.

When asked a question he looked confused, and couldn't answer most of our basic questions. It could be Chamisal isn't used to people asking pertinent question about their wines, but the servers should be able to offer basic wine info. Additionally, the service was excruciating slow. It took over an hour for one flight. The wines were decent, but the experience was dampened by the service and lack of education on the wines. Also, there was no incentive for purchasing more than one bottle of wine. The price was the same per bottle regardless. Very unusual.

No reservations, walk-in. We chose the tasting for two and got started enjoying our wine with beautiful views of the rolling hills. The host was very attentive and gave us our next tasting with perfect timing spaced between. We enjoyed the variety of wines we tasted and the friendly staff. There's one restroom on site located near the main entrance. They also had a nice water fountain to keep you hydrated during the tasting. Lastly, we love how this was dog friendly! We brought our little fur baby for the tasting outdoor. Would recommend this spot next time to dog owners!

The winery itself kind of looks like a house and has a bunch of tables out front. There was no music when we went but the vibe was amazing. It's a bit windy and the sun hits hard here so be prepared with sun screen. The wine was very good, some were sweet and others were a bit more oaky. The grapes they used in some of the wines were from the vines right next to us. Oscar and Clint were very helpful and provided a lot of insight on the area. We went to a couple of their recommendations in town and they did not miss. This vineyard is a solid place if you want to sip on some good wine with a view. Bottom line/TLDR: friendly vineyard with amazing views.

Our group have easily visited 250+ wineries and many of those we visited several times. We easily qualify as experts in the area of wine tasting. Based on our visit to Biddle Ranch as well as reviews I read the venue does not put an emphasis on hospitality. Our server (not educator) was nice but she seems to not care. Not care about selling wine, promoting or educating us about their wine and frankly or likes or dislikes. This behavior was repeated with other customers she was serving that day. If we are having a great time we reciprocate with numerous wine purchases and a generous tip. We only purchased the minimum to wave our tasting fees and could only justify the very minimum of gratuity. I truly hope management reads this post and invests time in better training their employees. We are in the area often and would love to have a spot to sip some wine before dinner. Based on this visit, I don't think so!
