The woman working that day (I believe it was a Monday) was so sweet, patient, and helpful. She was blonde if that helps lol. We had a lovely conversation with her as we looked over the bottles. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I really loved the red wine she recommended that says "Morro Bay" on it; she highly recommended it and it was a hit with me and my friends. What a great find in the charming town of San Louis Obispo. The young lady who helped us took her time to make sure we knew all the different options available. There were so many wines to choose from and she was super knowledgeable on all of them, while taking into account our preferences. We ended buying 5 bottles and enjoyed them over a fun girls weekend camping in a vineyard. Perfection! Bonus: they are very dog friendly and even let my dog choose her favorite wine lol. read more

We've gone three times and had three different gals wait on us. They were all sooooo educated on the wines and region as well as down to earth and friendly. They're also super baby friendly there! Walked in after reading positive reviews except for one or two regarding service. I walk in and the tasting area is against the wall across from the front door. The employee has a couple people back there and it appears they are or were tasting wine, but they are engaged in non-wine conversation so they've been there a while. The employee is facing the front door so there's no way she missed me walking in. She never greeted or acknowledged me. I continued searching and reading the bottles, thinking she'd eventually ask the other people to excuse her for a moment. They were not talking about wine or anything regarding the business and what they sell. I was there almost 10 minutes and ignored the entire time despite her totally facing my direction and my looking at her several times. I finally just shrugged at her and left. I've been coming to Central Coast Wines (CCW) for over 5 years now and I keep coming back for the exceptional wine selection, winemaker tastings, blind tastings, and world class service! One of my favorite events at CCW was fairly recently (on 8/10/2023). This is when High Camp winemakers were pouring their wines at the shop. The winemaker tasting with Megan & Spencer was so intimate and insightful. Loved that Solomiya (Miya) and her team brought this San Miguel winery to SLO! The CCW team is always looking to bring new experiences to its members and this night was one of my favorites. I've been going to CCW since 2017 back when Bob Ritchie owned it. Everyone loved Bob. However, Miya is absolutely amazing and has done an incredible job since she took CCW over 2+ years ago. She's significantly expanded the wine selection, remodeled, brought in some small bites of food, and has clearly placed tremendous value on customer service. We have also watched Mckenzee blossom into a confident, kind and knowledgeable employee who consistently nails our palate! Miya and her team are very special. I truly love this place. Central Coast is a great place to savor wine from the region. Mia is great to help you select a glass or wine. We needed some Cabernet and a Resielng and she helped us out. Wissam for the cab and it tasted very good. Mia has the best wine shop we've encountered. We often visit wineries, but this place is unique. It's one spot where you can find wines you probably wouldn't otherwise. We've stopped twice now, tried about 12 wines? so far and they were all delicious. What's cool about this spot, is they focus on supporting local winemakers, giving you the opportunity to try quality wines you may typically not find elsewhere. Today went tried two very different wines from anything we've had before, and left with a trip planned to visit a winery we now know because of this place. The wife and I were on a holiday vacation and spent a wonderful day in downtown San Luis. We stopped in for a tasting and the associate who poured for our tasting had a solid knowledge of the wines. I think we tasted 5 wines and 3 were good or better so that is pretty good with being very subjective. There are aspects of this business I cannot assess, because I spent only 25 minutes there, and only did a tasting. The five stars refers to that experience only, which hit all the right notes in such an abbreviated visit. The wines to sample were all from Paso Robles or nearby, which is exactly what I wanted. The host (I forget his name, but he was an older gentleman with circus experience) was greatly knowledgable about the region, the varietals he poured, and made other suggestions to me outside of his offerings. Totally ran into this spot by chance. Pretty hard to find and it's kinda hidden next to the sports memorabilia spot. If you're short on time and want to get as much of the best wines in the Central Coast, I suggest coming here. David was super cool, friendly and explained each tasting with great expertise. We've been to various types of tasting rooms and this one is not good. It's a small space in the back and our table of 4 sat at a table with an odd angle and we were the only ones tasting. We prefer full bodied reds and the current selection on the flight was ok. On a recent trip to SLO I stopped in to see about buying some local wines. When I arrived there was a small group doing wine tasting, and looked like they were having fun. I had a lower price point (looking for about $20 bottles) which I found wasn't quite reasonable at this store unless you're buying the CalPoly brand. After learning a bit more about wines, I understand, and ended up with a $25 pinot noir bottle from Effort that was fantastic. Karl J. helped me out, and we had a long and interesting chat about wines. I really enjoyed my time talking to him, and learned a lot about the local wines. I'll try the wine tasting next time, as I think getting the full experience would bump my rating up to 5 stars. read more

We chose this great little store based on it's Yelp reviews and weren't disappointed. We went in knowing exactly what kind of wine we wanted and at what price point. That was all the information the gentleman helping us needed. He had a nice case of selected sparking wines and light reds ready for us in 15 minutes, and they were all local, too! All the years I've been walking past this place and have never gone in.... I love Talley wines. And I'm slightly obsessed with them at the moment. Every restaurant I go to locally who serves talley, I always ask, where can I buy this wine besides the winery, but no one knows. Well, I was walking past this place and it hit me, local wines! Walked in and I didn't have to look hard at all to find all the Talley wines they sold. Unknown what the winery prices are, but compared to restaurant prices, they sold the wine for a lot less (of course)! Great location to get some quality local wines. read more

So the staff member that helped us was super awesome, we got 2 bottles. I am on the fence about going back because I didn't feel welcome by the owner. The staff member gave us a couple of tastings to see if we wanted to purchase the wine, and the owner or the person who appeared to be the owner didn't seem to want us there or maybe she didn't like that we had a tasting or something. The store was empty at the time and some hospitality would have make this into a 5 star review. I felt rushed out and just to purchase the wine.
