Tried Persis Indian Grill and absolutely loved it! The Vegetable Manchurian was my favorite, packed with flavor, and the veg biryani was delicious too. The soup was tasty and comforting. Great ambience and friendly staff made the whole experience even better.

Tried this place for the first time and it was yummy! I had the mild lamb fry biryani and it was unexpectedly spicier than what we thought but i tore it up regardless lol Can't say much about service since we did take out

As travelers passing through Cookeville we happened upon Persis. We were struck instantly when we walked in the front door with a clean, fresh ambiance and a smiling server! The booth had sparkling white, comfortable seating, menus arrived promptly along with water. We ordered a light supper of soup ( Sweet corn chicken and Hot N Sour Chicken) and naan. We were not disappointed! Feeling a bit adventurous we tried the Double Ka Meetha (bread pudding) - different, but delicious! I would definitely recommend you give Persis a try!

Chicken and spinach saag on rice

Update Returned for lunch. My wife and I decided to order something we would not typically order. She ordered chicken Saag which is creamed spinach with spices and chicken on steamed rice. I ordered fried vegetable fritters (mixed vegetable pakora), coconut soup, and cheese and garlic naan bread. My three were all appetizers. Everything was very good. Service was great. Place is exceptionally clean. We will continue to visit this restaurant. I did ask the server if any of the recipes were Americanized or if they were truly real Indian recipes. He said all recipes were true Indian recipes and that they got all their Indian spices from a Indian store in Nashville which imports them from India. They have been in business for 4 1/2 years. You are missing out if you don't go here.

Stopped in for dinner on a recent getaway to the area. Vegetable samosas were an excellent starter. They were spiced perfectly and served with two tasty sauces. The garlic cheese naan was also a delicious winner. I ordered the paneer tiki masala. I would have liked a little more heat, but it was incredible and the portion size was enough for leftovers. My husband had the goat biryani and described it as very flavorful with rich, "not at all gamey" meat. The restaurant has a bright, open, contemporary vibe. Will definitely return if we visit the area again.

AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD ALERT One of my coworker's family is from Southern India, she raved about this place being authentic. I finally got a chance to come here for a weekday lunch buffet. Here is my summary of my experience: Pros: Friendly owners (all Indians from southern India), greets you with a smile and get you seated quickly. I love a buffet during work week because if you only have an hour you can dig in the moment you walk in, no need to waste time to decide what to order then wait for your food to come. $13.99 per head is reasonable. Their food is so delicious, everything from butter chicken, chicken masala, tons of vegetarian options, etc. Their biryani rice was flavorful. I LOVE the fact that their nan bread is made to ORDER and no extra charge! This ensures the nan comes out crispy and buttery, it was hot honestly THE best nan I have ever had in a while! Cons: protein option is only chicken, however their weekend lunch buffet is 2 or 3 dollars more but not sure what that includes, it just says special buffet on weekends. The space is rather small, so for a large group it might not work. Their soup was a little too salty and while the food was tasty, If you are not into spicy be careful because this is one of the most spicy Indian buffet I have ever had. However, this is what you get for authentic Indian food, it could be way more spicier in India. Overall, highly recommended if you are into spicy Indian food!!

My order was to-go. Persis in Mt. Juliet has fast, pleasant and very hospitable service usually. They always ask you how hot you want your order and I asked for those green peppers you see me adding to the Dal Tadka on the side. If you like the burn, go for it. Both Dal Tadka and Dal Makhani are like home cooking--mom's comfort food. It's very satisfying and nourishing using a variety of beans and lentils with a lovely aromatic combination of spices and herbs and it is meatless. Very hearty and good for you. Papad is a lentil batter that is baked or fried until crispy, like a chip that you dip in the chutneys. They also have a tamarind chutney, but my favorite is the green one you see in the picture which is I think cilantro and mint. When fresh, it's lovely. Diners sit in rows of dinettes and there is a bar in the back. Lastly, my veggie parkora disappeared rapidly, so you should ask for your own order.

Was meeting a friend for lunch and this place was one of the few places open in the area on Sunday. It had been awhile since I had had Indian cuisine and I don't remember it like this. The flavors were incredible. My friend got the butter chicken and I got the Vindaloo. The Naan beard was soft and had bits of garlic on top. Highly recommend trying the samosa. Staff was great. Cannot wait to come back again when in the area!

Persis is a fantastic Indian restaurant and the food is excellent overall. We've been here a few times and the food has been consistently cooked well and is absolutely delicious. We love the garlic naan and the butter chicken and chicken biriyani is excellent as well. The restaurant is conveniently located on Jefferson Ave not too far from I-40, so it's a good place to visit if you're traveling through the area.

I don't know how it has that color. I've eaten at Indian restaurants around the world and have never seen such an unnatural color for a curry. The chicken korma had a more standard curry color, but was SO salty. As was the tikka masala. Both were watery. Lacking in flavor. The korma was spicy, but not from curry flavors. Seemed like it was just some chili pepper and a ton of salt with a touch of curry spices. The garlic naan was sparse, thin, and bland. The plain rice tasted like it was part of a burnt batch. The raita was also watery. And the mango lassi tasted like water with yellow dye and a splash of mango juice. NOT like the mango yogurt thick deliciousness that a lassi is normally meant to be. We threw the whole meal out. I couldn't even salvage the white rice. It felt like a place that had run out of ingredients and needed to compensate with salt and water. And food dye. I have never had such disappointing Indian food before. What an unfortunate experience.

We ate there on a Saturday for lunch and the buffet was the only option (I guess menu options are available for dinner). That did not matter though once we sampled some of the buffet items. I ended up going back to the buffet just so i could taste more of the delicious options. I would absolutely go back to this place ANY time i have a craving for amazing Indian food. The hostess is an elderly lady who runs the operation. A very dear Indian lady who was extremely friendly and pleasant. Very much a diamond in the rough.

First of all if you're really not looking, you will drive past this gem. It's in a small little shopping strip that quite literally if you blink you'll pass it. The weather was raining pretty good when we ventured out and upon our arrival there were only 3 other table occupied. So we figured a slow night. Could not have been more wrong. Carry out/delivery service was very steady and within an hour the restaurant itself was around 70% filled. I certainly know why even in bad weather people make the trip to Sindoore! On to our meal. We decided to get an appetizer and actually something different than the normal samosas we like to order. We ended up ordering the Pani Puri. What a wonderful surprise these puffed semolina, stuffed with potatoes and garbanzo beans, served with mint and cilantro water were just delightful. Next we ordered our mains, chicken vindaloo and butter chicken with a side of regular and garlic naan. I order my vindaloo spicy, which was one level down from what the waiter told us was their hottest level. My wife ordered the butter chicken, with no spice and they were able to accommodate her request. Our main and a large bowl of basmati rice arrived in about ten minutes. Both dishes were great! Mine could have been hotter, but I was still very happy with my order. My wife's, no spice was perfect as well. Both were more than enough for our meal, especially with the naan, which was great as well. The naan had a slight char on one side and with the garlic it was perfect along with my vindaloo. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to come back to Sindoore the next time we re in Nashville.
