The absolute best place to come and eat when you want to feel like you're eating home cooked food that your Spanish grandma made or used to make. This is a small mom and pop type of Salvadoran restaurant. When I tell you, it is worth every penny and everything is cooked authentically and with love, I mean it. The food is hands down the BOMB, all the food is made FRESH as it's ordered. Every time we are in the area, we come here! My husband is Salvadorian and we know good papusas when we come across them and this place has the BEST papusas in the area ! The slaw and red sauce for the papusas is so tasty too, they also give you a spicy jalapeño topping for the papusas that is delicious. Their breakfast huevos, frijoles, platano, avocate con crema y queso was soo good! Staff is super friendly. It's a small place but the food is well worth the wait if there is any. My husband also loved the baleada and I loved the tamal del alote, super tasty. I wish this place was closer to Wesley Chapel because we miss having a piece of home close by. read more

Their curtido has a great blend of crunchy cabbage, onion, and diced jalapeños all in a pickled vinegar brine that gives it a nice tang. The pupusas can be ordered in different combinations. My personal favorite is mixto, or a combination of black beans, chicharrón, and queso. The saltiness of the cheese, the soft bite of the masa that envelopes the meat and beans.. such a glorious combination! I've tried pupusas in the area and El Manjar is def my favorite. I got the mixed pork and cheese pupusas and they were delicious. Definitely made to other. Extensive menu of tacos, tostados, flautas, pupusas, tamales, enchilladas and a special form of Salvadoran enchiladas stuffed with chicken and veggies....yet to try. First time I sampled the tacos....pastor (pork) beef and chorizo. The seasonings were stellar, esp. the chorizo. Also many tropical fruit batido (milkshake) choices, and for the adventuresome seeking organ and other unusual meats, you can get tongue or tripe tacos...as well as menudo and lots of other rich soups. Being Salvadorian I was very excited to see another place making pupusas. The place is very small very easy to miss from the road. The inside is very small very typical for Salvadorian restaurants. The staff is nice but mostly only speak Spanish so make sure to have someone translate for you, if you only speak English. The menu is full so there's something for everyone. I've been to this place a few times and the last time really disappointed me. The pupusas are small and mostly filled with beans. This is a common trick to make more profit for less. The tamales were filled with rice, this is not typically found in tamales. I must say if they make changes and provide Quality food they'll get customers if they continue to cut corners people will stop coming. Good luck read more

Here's the story: My wife and I have been coming here for over two years. The service has never been great, but there was a new server who did not know what she was doing. We ordered pupusas de arroz (made with rice dough instead of corn). When we ordered, she failed to tell us that they were out of rice dough and brought corn pupusas instead. When my wife questioned her, the server lied and said they were rice. She took them back to the other staff to confirm that they were in fact not what we ordered. The owner apologized, but with a bad attitude. To make things worse, the check comes and they charged us $3.00 for a water. Not a bottle of water, but a cup with water and ice. I asked her if that was on the menu. She told me that by law she doesn't have to put that on the menu. I don't know what that has to do with it. I was just an unsatisfied customer and it kept getting worse. I informed her that I was just giving her feedback, because I would have appreciated being told that a cup of water costs $3 (because that is not typical in most restaurants here). Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant. Messing up an order is an honest mistake, but the way the owner handled it made us feel very un-welcomed. read more
