We come here maybe one or twice a year especially when I'm feeling cold and want some hearty Colombian soup/stew. I can tell I've become a creature of habit. I still love the sancocho de res(Beef stew) here. The prices are still pretty decent considering how much everything cost now. They have two sizes, small and large and the small is def more than enough($8). I love leftovers, but never seem to finish these kind of leftovers. It comes with white rice, beans, and plantains. We also ordered the sancocho de gallina(chicken). The chicken has bones. The beef in my soup is tender and no bones and no fat so pretty effortless. We also ordered a small lechona. It really is just a bunch of rice and some shredded pork and the skin. No big deal and not a repeat. I wish we didn't order it because that was just way too much rice with our orders. We love ordering almojabana usually(Colombian cheese bread). We didn't buy any this time, and I usually get a passion fruit smoothie. I didn't love my experience here this time. It is always crowded which is good for them. But the volume is so loud in here. But it's very good, traditional, and less expensive. No frills no atmosphere, not updated, just good Colombian food. (From March 2022) So after finishing my trek from the The Lab and my stroll on the Riverwalk, I decide to walk further to the innings festival at Raymond James. Covering four miles, of course I needed to stop and get some eats/drinks (aka the cuban sandwich) and saw this place so walked in, sat at the bar, ordered and chilled for a bit while catching my breath. So the cuban sandwich I was served was a good size but not what I was expecting: it had lettuce, tomato, onion, and salami; no pork. Plus gobs of mustard squirted out as I was eating it so the messiness was at a 10 level. The sandwich tasted fine but I was hoping for the traditional cuban (ham, swiss, pork, pickles, mustard/mayo, toasted cuban bread). Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? And it was so large I couldn't finish it. At least it left me full. It's a small mom/pop shop with a bakery and traditional cuban eats such as yuca, plaintains, empanadas, cheese bread, etc. I probably should've went with that instead but you live and you learn. read more

This place is excellent! Truly authentic! We had hen soup, which also comes with a full place of rice, yuca, plantain, and 1/4 of a hen. Also had the stuffed suckling pig. Seriously delicious! Crunchy pig skin cut off right in front of you. Just the right amount of fat Attached to the skin and it melts in your mouth. There is a Colombian bakery in Jax (Jacksonville y'all) called antojitos colombianos that sells these pan de bono that are more addictive than meth and coke combined. While in Tampa, I visited this place and they have two that look pretty much the same, plus one that's circular. I couldn't decide which one to get so I did what every other sane human being would have done: get them all. At $1.25 each, why not? The good news is, when you go, you won't have the same dilemma, because here I am sharing the taste report. When we find ourselves in Tampa and in the mood for empanadas, we immediately think of Antojitos. The chicken empanadas are my favorite but the stuffed yucca is also on the top of my list. Get some pan de bono too! Service is great even though they're always packed. Prices are cheap. The food is flavorful. Every table is given some SUPER SPICY sauce that looks like a homemade salsa. This place is not in the best part of town so we almost didn't go at all. However, we decided to order take-out and try a few items. We tried two beef empanadas, two pandebonos (Colombian cheese bread), chicharrón, mora (blackberry juice), and a loaf of their pancacho. The empanadas were not crispy, however the filling (potatoes and shredded beef) was very traditional and tasty. The hot sauce was good but did have a slightly bitter aftertaste. I would have liked the dough to be crispier but perhaps we got some old ones that had been sitting out for a little while. The pandebonos were perfectly made and delicious. The chicharrón was crispy and my husband seemed to enjoy it. Mora juice was excellent what little I had...my kid drank nearly half of it. The prices are reasonable and all of this only set us back about $20. read more

We've been to this restaurant several times for lunch. We usually start our meal with a papa (or yuca rellena) which are very different than any other papa rellena I've had from other countries. It is deep fried, stuffed with lots of shredded beef and rice. Unlike the Cuban kind, the amount of potato was just enough to encase the filling, not the primary ingredient. This Colombian papa rellena along with the Peruvian one have to be my favorite ones. For our main entree we usually order the large bandeja paisa which comes with steak topped with sautéed onions, fried pork chunks, fried egg, rice & beans, plantains, a small arepa (corn cake) and half a small avocado. It's a lot of food one can easily share with another person, which is what we usually do. The arepa is small and thick, kinda flavorless actually, definitely not my favorite. We also usually order a small portion of the Sunday special (interestingly, they also serve this on Saturdays though), lechona, which is a rice & pork dish, served with several pieces of roasted pig skin. It's absolutely delicious, the rice is so flavorful especially if you add a bit of hot sauce and lemon/lime juice (my personal addition). We've also tried the chuleta de cerdo, a rather lean bland pork steak, which was not very good at all so typically try to stick to the same dishes every time we visit. They make fresh fruit juices and smoothies to order, not from frozen fruit or concentrate. Some of the fruits are well known and common, like mango and papaya, however they also have a few fruits that were new to us like lulo and tomate de arbol. There is also a bakery area with lots of baked goods and sweets, the almojabana is my favorite. read more

One night, I opened the yelp app on my phone per my friends' request, because we were craving Latin food. As I searched for "Latin", Antonitos came to be one of the top options. We grabbed our phones and wallet, drove here immediately. As soon as we were seated, we knew that this place was authentic, every customer in here was speaking Spanish. The menu had so many options we were overwhelmed. We got Aguila, a Colombian beer, it was a very good light beer. I got a dish with steak with veggies, potatoes, rice and beens. My reaction after the first bite was something like "ummmm yummm sooo good". The beans were seasoned very well, the steak was juicy, and the rice was fresh. This restaurant was recommended by a friend. I would said they have groove of the food in their menu. They are not typical food you fine. They serve Columbian cuisine with some specialty of their own. We have the Sobrebarriga and the Pargo Rojo Frito. Sobrebarriga is the Creole Flank Steak in "tio" sauce. It is yellow sauce with yuca and sweet plantains on the side. This flank steak is braise proper and tear the meat in string. My wife dish is the Pargo Rojo Frito - the fried whole snappers. The fish is very fresh and crispy. The batter that applies to fish has been mix with spice and they are very good. Love the crispy taste with flavors. Overall our dishes is very good. There are certain items that I will come to Antojitos for; cheese themed baked goods. They have a plethora of different deep fried and baked cheese filled items, so many to choose from, and I do not know all of their names. All I know that is that my favorite I have tried so far is called pandebono. Usually, this bread is in a spherical form. However, at Antojitos, it is the best I have ever had--- served in a doughnut-like stick form. Soft and full of cheesy dough on the inside, the outside has a little mochi-like chew. Amazing. Also, you can actually order Arepa con Queso at Antojitos. Like, it is actually on the menu and not a special request that confuses the crap out of your server. They serve two types of arepas; regular smaller white and a larger yellow sweet ground corn version. The yellow corn one is like delicious cornbread! They have three specials everyday, even on the weekends. Most of the time involving soup. I regret not trying the Saturday special of Stuffed Roast Pig, but there as no price for this item on the menu. Antojitos also has the typical paisa platters of meat, rice, beans, and plantains. Platters are about 30% cheaper than the restaurants down the street, but the quality of the meat is cheaper cuts and not as flavorful. Certain places are crowded for a reason, and word of mouth travels fast. If you do happen to order meat, ask for the aji sauce. read more

It included carne aside with grilled onions, chicarrones, rice, beans, a corn cake and platanos. I didn't want the fried egg, so they gave me half an avocado instead. The food was good. I'm glad I was offered the "green sauce" because the food needed that bite. Otherwise, I found the beans under seasoned. The steak was okay as long as it was eaten with the onions. The pork rind was a bit over cooked and over salted. I had the maracuya juice (that's passion fruit juice). It was excellent. They also offer beer and soda.
