Went here on a weeknight and were the only people here. I'm vegetarian and gluten free, which is usually very easy to accommodate for at Mexican restaurants. I asked for the vegetarian quesadilla but with a corn tortilla. The waiter said he didn't know if they had them or not, which is the first time I've heard that at a Mexican restaurant, and that he would check. He never came back, so when the food came, I asked if it was a corn tortilla. He said yes, but I just knew it wasn't, so I asked another worker and hen also said yes while they both smiled at each other. I only ate the inside of the quesadilla but that was actually very good. They also give regular and spicy salsa with the appetizer chips. Overall, if you have any food sensitivities or preferences, this place is not safe for you.

Decent little restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Food was not my favorite Mexican in Cincinnati but it hit the spot just fine.

My second visit to El Nopal was just as successful as the first. The restaurant looked super snazzy and the service was satisfactory. The complimentary chips and salsa were good although it just tasted like salsa out of a jar. Their version of Chori-Queso was a solid effort. They focused more on tasty queso rather than putting lots of chorizo in it but it really worked well. For my main course I tried the Pollo Mole. It is a grilled chicken breast topped with their Mole sauce and comes with a cheese enchilada and Spanish rice. Mole sauce is the Mexican sauce that is made with chocolate among other things. It does have a tad of sweet to it but is more like a brown Sesame sauce. It worked really well on the perfectly cooked and juicy grilled chicken breast. The enchilada was fine and I really like their Spanish rice as it has tons of awesome flavour. This was some delicious food and I have nothing bad to say about this visit. Good stuff.

I really wanted a Taco Salad so I decided to order to go and try out this place. I was please surprised. The taco salad was full of meat and veggies and they did not skimp on the serving. The gentlemen who brought my food to me was very friendly and dressed professional. The inside seemed clean from what I saw. They are opened later than the other Mexican restaurants which is nice. My salad also included a huge bag of Tortilla chips which were tasty as well. They packed everything neat and ordinarily. I also ordered a Chimichanga side because I wanted to try something new. It looked amazing but unfortunately I reheated to long and burnt it so I wasn't able to try.

The salsa and chips were great especially the spicy salsa! The queso was yummy and not watered down!! Chimichangas could have been a little crunchier, but it was good. Husbands food was good but I can't remember the name of the meal. Wait staff was awesome!

The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.

Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.

The Shrimp PoBoy bruschetta was very flavorful. My lobster dip was nice and creamy and work well on the sliced crostini bread. We all had the Blackened salmon with rice & beans. The salmon was perfectly cooked and very flavorful with just enough blackened seasoning to enhance the flavor. Food presentation was perfect, everything was plated nicely They have a great selection of bourbon. We chose ours after just three selections but they had many more. The owner came by our table and introduced herself, something you rarely see nowadays The cost was reasonable, and we have added this to our list of top restaurant selections in Newport, Kentucky. We had a reservation for 6pm and walked in and got right to our table, with drinks shortly following. I ordered their espresso martini, which was very solid. For an appetizer I ordered their soup of the day (clam chowder) and entree was the orange roughy in a lemon cream sauce, with wild rice and broccoli on the side (and my wife got the prime rib - WOW!). Both were EXCELLENT - wish the portion sizes were bigger honestly on mine! For dessert we all split the lemon mascarpone cake and cheesecakes, which were devoured. Then, because it was one of those rare warmer nights in February, we went outside and sat in front of the fireplace and drank a bottle of wine and hung out for an hour or two. Our server and the manager were absolutely awesome and hit all the high points. Definitely a great experience all around. Only SLIGHT downside was the parking lot around back, which was totally full, but can't really fault Green Line for that. We found street parking not far away. Five stars for Green Line - 100% will be back!

They had just had a storm roll through and were experiencing a bunch of power outage problems, and the staff were able to pivot well around this issue. Which for me wasn't really an issue, because I like sitting in a darkened room anyways and I thought that was just the ambiance they were going for. I kicked off with a Buffalo trace martini and whooooo was it good and definitely a martini to be sipped and enjoyed. I followed that then with their shrimp cocktail special that I was not prepared for it to come in an actual cocktail glass and they officially have made the most gorgeous shrimp cocktail I have ever ordered. My server was super awesome and she suggested I also get their bread basket because she's heard great things about the truffle butter and sweet butter that come with it and let me tell you all something. The truffle butter was good, but the sweet cream butter I would gladly eat on everything the rest of my life, it was that incredible. For my main course I ordered the prime rib that they're known for and while I liked it, I wish I'd asked for it to have been cooked a little more than medium well, but that's just my personal preference and I knew I should have gone with what I normally do. The sides were fantastic and paired well with it, and I also got a side of their vegetable risotto which I ate for breakfast the next day without shame. I then finished the meal off with the delectable lemon cake you see pictured here and it was so smooth and delish. I basically had to roll out. I will be sure to visit again the next time I'm going to Louisville!

The place is small and had a very weird vibe between fine dining and kitschy. White tablecloths, but then lots of purple and pictures of roosters everywhere (I realize the name, but hmmm). Our server was lovely but would disappear for too long between times when she should have been present. We ordered our drinks at 745pm, and I watched them sit at the end of the bar. Finally, at 805pm, I went to the bartender and said, "those are our drinks that have been sitting there for a while". Our server brought them over like we ordered them 5 minutes prior. But the lovely owner/manager came over and said the "drinks are on me" because we waited so long. We appreciated that! The fried chicken was good, but the breading was very salty. The green beans were almost inedible because they were so salty. The mashed potatoes were average. The biscuits were fantastic. The fried deviled eggs were okay. A regular deviled egg is better. The shrimp and grits had a lot going on. The shrimp was lightly battered and fried (?) and the flavor of the dish was bold. I think sauteed shrimp and a little less gravy would make it perfect.
