Went here once because a friend recommended we go. He told me this place had some of the best tacos he ever had. I could definitely say that I was thoroughly disappointed. I will admit things tasted fresh but the food was bland. There weren't any flavors going on at all. I never had a taco that didn't have any type of taste before. On top of everything else the portion just wasn't enough. I payed upwards to $10 just to still be hungry 10 minutes later. I'm not saying don't go but don't have your hopes up. I probably would have given it 1 star had it not tasted ok. I ordered the taco dinner, which came with 3 tacos rice and beans for 6 dollars. Well the tacos were the smallest I've ever seen. Like the Jose Ole mini tacos. The smallest one was finished in a bite and a half. Then came the wait. Not sure why they served customers who ordered after me. But it took a WHILE. Maybe they prioritize their favorite customers, but I will not be returning. And I would caution you too. Because it seems like he served a kids meal for a grown man. SMH read more

Some of the best Mexican food I have had, tastes like my Mexican grandma was back in the truck whipping it up herself. Had my ground beef taco with cheese, cilantro, and onions to see if it was a legit Mexican joint as I always do. And BAM!!! They knocked it out of the park. OK I'm not from Lansing but was doing some work near jolly and Pennsylvania. Was with my son and an assistant. Got behind doing work for the VETS. Last person I saw figured he would grab lunch and come back. I asked where he went and he shared a treasure. EL OASIS in Tony's party store. HOLY SMOKES. After work we went. Got out of car and could almost taste the burrito. Not fancy. No tables. Ate in car with newspaper over laps. Messy but incredibly tasty,spicy for both,and a texture explosion neither of us expected. Inhaled meal and talked it over for the next 2hours getting home. I got tongue taco. Son got tongue burrito/size of forearm. 3 sauces beans rice corn. Hot spicy perfect texture with silky tender tongue. We looked up recipes on way home. The hot sauce was salty. Only negative. This is as good as gas station or beer:wine food gets. They have other locations in Lansing and I don't know if they are all take out. Would give it 5 stars but got sauce on my shirt and pants. read more

This is hands down my favorite place to get food from in Lansing. Some days service can be a little slow but there's often many people there ordering and limited cooking space. Catch them at a not busy time and you'll get your food fast. Prices are great as well. You can get a delicious authentic Mexican burrito cheaper then you would get one at Chipotle. read more

Let me start off by saying that for what you get for your money, El Oasis is great. The food is awesome and the prices don't hurt your wallet. It's just awesome....for lunch. Recently, they announced that they would begin serving breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. AWESOME (I thought), I can get amazing food before work! This is not the case. I've gone 3 different mornings, all days on which they were supposed to be open for breakfast, and guess what? Nada. No breakfast, an two of the days, no one was even there! When I went this morning at 8:15 asking about breakfast, they were just opening up and when I asked about breakfast, they said "20 minutes". What? 7 a.m. is actually 8:35 a.m.? Sure, I'm being picky, and I really do love the food and the atmosphere that El Oasis has, but don't play with my heart by offering a Chorizo breakfast burrito to me and then make it impossible for me to have it. Barbacoa is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. Never walked away unsatisfied with my food. Possibly my favorite Mexican food in the area. The food truck before they were trending and an asset to the local community. I will always pay a visit to the oasis if I am in the area. read more

Not sure what my problem is but somehow I managed to drive past this place for years and never stopped. I'm regretting it now!! El Oasis serves up excellent, authentic, well prepared Mexican food with really friendly service, and low prices. They have their main truck that has the food- we ordered tacos (pork is awesome!), sopes, and a torta (Mexican sandwich on a special bun). They also have a little truck that had fresh juices and icees made with fresh shaved ice and juice. They offered interesting flavors like Tamarind. They were busy with cars coming in and out of the lot. Overall an excellent spot that I will be visiting often. read more

I've been going here for two years now and although there has been a growing number of customers this past year, the quality of their food never ceases to amaze me. Every time I go to El Oasis I get steak tacos with "everything on it" with a couple sides of that amazing spicy green sauce. Pair that up with a cup of horchata? Game over. Wow, after trying a few things at this truck... I would honestly give it ten stars if I could. Unbelievably good food... Think San Francisco Mission quality Mexican. Really nice people. Rediculously cheap prices. Their light green hot sauce is one of the best tasting things I have ever put in my mouth. I try to eat slow/low carb. I eat a lot of no rice burrito bowls. These guys accomodate me really well. I get a steak burrito, in a box, no toritlla, no rice, no sour cream. Green sauce. Plus a side of pico de gallo. I end up with a box of grilled steak bits, refried beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a bit of really nice grated mexican cheese. I dump in all of the pico and green sauce and mix it all up... SO GOOD and, for those who put their faith in slow/low carb it's HEALTHY! Total price for this meal? $5.50. You just cannot beat that. The veggie burritos must have cheese or be small. I was unable to order a big veggie burrito. The two burritos we got were okay but too dry and really not enough food. For $11, though, we really can't complain too much. read more

El Oasis is as good as it gets for cheap Mexican food in Lansing. It seems very authentic, and the prices can't be beat. I suspect El Oasis might scare some potential customers off due to the fact that it's just a trailer in a parking lot, which doesn't scream quality out to most people. Don't let that fool you, though; the cuisine at El Oasis is excellent. They have many Mexican fixtures like tacos, sopes, burritos and tortas, along with a great selection of meats. I couldn't recommend the tacos de lengua enough to people. Everything is cooked fresh, which makes me feel sorry for the guys working there during the summer. It must be super hot in there. Anyways, as long as you don't expect anything fancy, this is a fantastic place to get a meal for less than $10. If you're in the mood for Mexican food or just something with a little spice, try El Oasis, you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is fantastic, with amazing and traditional tacos and sopes, which i have rarely seen outside of Mexico. Being from Detroit, one would think that Mexican Town or Mi Pueblo would be a notch above this place, but that isn't the case. El oasis has some of the most authentic food, with authentic ambiance straight from Mexico (the little cart is a heavy reminder of eating in your car while sending someone to get more tacos at the cart). My family has driven up from Detroit many times just to eat at this place, rain and shine! If they know you're Mexican or enjoy legit spicy-ness they'll even add a torito (deep friend jalapeno pepper) to your food which just shows how legit this place it. The quesadillas are fantastic, my neices' favorite, and that red sauce is awesome. The Tostadas al Pastor complete my life along with a Jarrito de Mandarina. Soooo Good. read more

I have no idea why this place has such great reviews. I had tacos which were ok but the chicken was bland. The red sauce was a weird flavor that tasted more like It belonged on wings. I wanted to love the food truck idea but it just took a really long time and lacked the flavors I look forward to in traditional Mexican food. My daughter had the small burrito which is pretty big, and my husband had the big burrito which was huge. Their food tasted much better than mine. The beans were over-purred and under spiced. The rice was mushy had had corn and peas in it. It's a cool idea and worth a try, but pass on the tacos and go at an off time. read more

I picked up lunch today after eating at the Haslett location yesterday. I ordered a veggie burrito which is supposed to include beans, rice, sour cream, avocado, lettuce, breaded poblano peppers and tomato sauce. Unfortunately the man that was taking orders was very dismissive. So I ended up with a burrito with beans, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. Very disappointed. Bland, boring and not authentic. Who puts peas and carrots in a burrito? I swear that the wet sauce they use tastes exactly like the frozen spaghetti dinner I bought at Trader Joes. No specific thing in the burrito stands out as tasty. This is the second time I went because I wanted to believe my first experience was a fluke. It wasn't. Okay. I need to update my review and give this another star. I used to live in Southern California, and I was very, very sad when I tried the food from many of the Mexican restaurants in the Lansing-area. El Oasis is one of the few exceptions. I have not had a lousy order, yet. The people in the cart are great about making items meatless. Their sopes are amazing (meat or no meat), as well as the veggie tamales. The tacos have corn tortillas, and many are made the way they are supposed to be made, depending on the filling. Even though I prefer meatless options, I really enjoy the lengua taco (especially with the juice from the enclosed lime wedge), and the ground beef is good. Depending on the time of day, this place is busy. You may not quickly get your food as soon as it is ordered, but don't let it keep you away. This food is worth the wait. read more
