Been coming here for 5 years now, the food is awesome...mostly consistent. BUT the service HORRENDOUS! We were told 30 min wait for a 2 table wait, that was fine. When sat we waited 5 min or so to be acknowledged by any sever I counted 6. When I asked about taco specials seeing how it was taco Tuesday my server rolled her eyes listed chicken carne or shrimp...no prices just a list of tacos available. We ordered our food, after about 10 minutes later I had to approach all the servers behind the bar giving each other back rubs to ask them for chips and salsa since food was taking longer than normal and my kids were getting wild. The manager brought us our food just sat it down and left. Our server came shortly after and I was able to get an extra plate I needed but after that no checkup on us the food or our empty soda cups. Working in the same service and knowing the 6 servers working only had 14 tables all together in the restaurant and couldn't even express the 10-4 rule was disappointing. Oh and here's the "fresh chips" crumbs we waited for them to "freshly make." The pasta was amazing if you're looking for friendly fast good service this is NOT the place. read more

My daughter just brought me home Eggplant Parm for my birthday and it was very good. I tried their Mexican food and it was awesome so tonight I wanted Italian and they did not disappoint. My daughter had the Chicken Parm and she loved it as well. Can't wait to eat there again, or I mean get takeout again. It's hard to eat out with a 2 year old. Lol read more

Hot plate with beans and rice. Fajitas (Chicken). Nothing to eat on? I had to hold my tortilla and scoop over the table, until my wife asked for a plate? Really? My wife put her coke on the edge of the table, in order to try and get a refill. I've finished this message and still no refill. I guess you'll need to empty your beans and rice on the floor, so you will have something to use for a plate. This is a special kind of place. Menu prices go up, service comes way down! read more

I visited El Paraiso last Thursday night for dinner and have dined there a few times over the past several years. It's an unusual restaurant as it is a combination of Mexican and Italian dishes being offered. El Paraiso is in its own building with an ample sized gravel parking on the side and rear. Inside it consists of one large open dining room with a small bar. There is another separate room for private parties. This is a casual table service eatery. Shortly after being seated the table receives complimentary chips and red salsa no matter which side of the menu you order from. My last Yelp review here was for Mexican so this time I went Italian ordering the Rosemary chicken for $17. I tried not to eat too much of the chips and salsa because eating those and then Italian food seemed weird but to each his own. The entree arrived less than 20 minutes later. It was a chicken breast that had been sautéed in olive oil with mushrooms, garlic, spinach and rosemary (of course) that made for a tasty sauce over a bed of fettuccine. It was both delicious and filling. The meal also came with a generous piece of buttered garlic bread. The table service was good too. El Paraiso is a restaurant that does pull off serving very good Italian and Mexican meals in the Chino Valley. It's a good and solid choice for a meal. read more

I go frequently. Excellent Italian dishes. My favorite is Marsala, but others are great as well. I've only tried a few Mexican selections and all were good. A bit unusual, but chips and salsa are served with all meals, Italian or Mexican. I like it though and the chips are made in house and are the best. Tacos are outstanding. Servers are friendly and know the extensive menu. Not fancy, but good overall atmosphere. Yes, I like the place. My favorite choice in Chino Valley and maybe Prescott and PV as well. read more

Food is always tasty. Except when I got my spaghetti and meatballs. My spaghetti was filled with diced onion. Every scoop nearly had 4-5 onions. I don't mind if there was less but not for me. Other than that, me and my spouse travel from South AZ every so often just to enjoy a good dinner. We just try different things as we go. So far my favorite is the Chicken Parmigiana with Alfredo sauce. My spouse is the jalapeño poppers. Ladies are always nice. The place is clean and not crowded. Our orders have always been right. Hubby and I checked this place out after our 14 mile bike ride on the Peavine trail. We arrived a bit after 12noon and were seated and ordered our food (two entrees) by 12:15. Within minutes, the place got incredibly busy, and the two young ladies who were seating and waiting on customers were completely overwhelmed. It took 45 minutes for our food. No appetizers, just two entrees. My husband had an Italian pasta dish and I had their Ceviche bowl. Thankful that our 45 minute wait resulted in good tasting food - but that's far too long to wait. After our bike ride, we were famished! So as much as we enjoyed the food here at this family-owned restaurant, it's a 'one and done' for us. read more

We were a little iffy about going to a place that does both Mexican and Italian food. But we're pleasantly surprised with el paraiso! We only got Mexican food so I can't talk about the Italian side, but what we did have was great! Lots of flavor! There was a bit of wait as it was packed in the restaurant as well which is always a good sign! Our server was quick and attentive even with how busy it was. My new favorite restaurant. They start you off with chips and salsa and keep refilling it for you. Salsa is so good. Just the right amount of heat. We ordered a well done cheese crisp to start. It was one of the best cheese crisps I've ever had. It comes with guacamole and sour cream. My hubby and I shared the bacon wrapped shrimp. It comes with rice and beans and a zesty green sauce. Its a good sign when the rice actually has flavor. Our server Gisella is a true treasure. She is so kind and caring I thought she was the owner instead of an employee. This will be our go to place from now on for great Mexican food. read more

When you think of fish tacos anywhere else I have ever ordered them, you think of a solid piece of fish laid on a bed of cabbage with a sauce on top. LOOK at these fish tacos. It's a glorified fish stick cut up laid on top of a flour tortilla. I was shocked when they placed it in front of me. The waitress could see the dissatisfaction on my face and asked if everything was ok. When I asked where is the cabbage and pico? Her reply was it comes with pico but the lettuce and cheese is extra and you didn't ask for it?!?!?! I assumed it came with the taco! So I paid extra for lettuce and cheese. I still just shake my head that they just brought me a tortilla with a cut up Mr.Gordon frozen fish stick. Maybe the other food is good but it's a never again for me on the fish sticks. $15 for what you see in picture. Oh it came with rice and beans. The beans, delicious. This is my second review for EL Paraiso. We frequent this restaurant because they offer such a great variety of food that never leaves us disappointed. El Paraiso has amazing customer service. The servers are always sweet and although they may be really busy at times they always do their best to ensure you're satisfied. This place has a "hole in the wall" ambiance but the food and service make up for it. Today we ordered the Cheese Dip as an appetizer with a side of flour tortilla's...it did not disappoint. We will definitely order again! My husband always loves the Carne Asada Burrito, the red sauce is very flavorful and the burrito is HUGE! As for me I always recommend the Chicken Piccata, Cheese Ravioli's with extra marinara, or the super fresh Caprese Salad. read more

A Mexican and Italian restaurant all in one! My friends took me here and told me it was a Italian and Mexican restaurant all in one. It's was pretty full which was a good sign. I was thinking about the chicken fried steak but that's neither Italian or Mexican so I opted for the chicken carbonara, I would have preferred just plain carbonara without the chicken if I knew they used white meat chicken, yucko. The noodles they used was just plain spaghetti noodles, that doesn't lend itself well to capturing the sauce like a fettuccine or a linguine noodle, but then again the dish was not very saucy. It could have stood a bit more liquid/sauce, but it sure was pretty good. My friends ordered a lasagna and boy was it good. One of his daughters order a carne asada chile verde wet burrito, WOW, other than a sliver of avocado, the burrito was stuffed with carne asada, no rice, no beans or other filler. it was ok not what i hoped for but for a quick out it was ok not great. hubbies drink had just a drop of alcohol in it. my Ice Tea was ok and refilled just fine. i ordered grilled chicken and spinach. there was like 5 spinach leaves and the rest was broccoli. bummer. and the chicken tasted like it was grilled on the same grill they grill fish.
