One thing that I really enjoyed about this location in downtown Commerce is the staff. They all worked together and delivered great customer service. The staff was actively cleaning the restaurant as people left. The food was a bit of a disappointment. And I really wanted to like it. The kids cheese quesadilla was the most enjoyable thing we got. The food lacked seasoning, presentation and delivered a very odd aftertaste. The salsa was good but also lacked seasoning. It all lacked something. Strolled in here passing through on a road trip. Located in a cool little downtown with some shops to checkout nearby. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo and some guac (can get it smooth or chunky) and it was all fantastic! I only finished about half as it was enough food for 2 full meals for me. It seemed like a dinner-sized portion for lunch - a combo of shrimp, beef, and chicken with rice and beans on the side for around $7.50. We just stopped here while our daughter has a performance down the road. So we only had a drink and had to leave without eating. The drinks were really good and generous We noticed the prices were very reasonable, so after her performance we went back to eat. I had carne asada tacos and they were so flavorful! The green salsa that accompanied it packed a punch! The burrito California and enchiladas were a hit as well. The portions were generous. We decided this was the best Mexican food we've had since we came to Georgia. Too bad it's an hour away from us. The expeditor who brought our food was amazing. We ordered 4 shots of tequila throughout our meal but it came out room temperature, which surprises me because anytime I order one it's chilled...but maybe we needed to say chilled, not sure. But the thing that brought this review down was that a man that seemed to be the manager or owner came to our table to help clear the dishes and was talking on his cellphone. And then when he brought our bill he was still on the phone! The food was outstanding. I consider this the best Mexican food in the county. The meals for dinner are around 11 dollars. I had nachos. The level of detail they put into their food is excellent. Portions are huge for what you pay for. The service was excellent. A waiter helped a man stand who was having difficulty. The restaurant is in an old opera house built in 1907. Love this little restaurant in downtown! We were on our way to Alabama and stopped in for dinner, based on their Yelp rating. We weren't disappointed. We were sat in a booth near the door, which provided us some privacy from the openness of the dining room. The salsa and chips were fresh and delicious. We ordered cheese dip to go with them and it was creamy and warm. Our meals were awesome. My daughter got a chicken diablo dish that was excellent. The chicken breast was pounded thin and grilled with diablo sauce and cheese dip covering. I got the chimichanga which was deliciously crisp and also smothered in cheese sauce. Commerce is half way point for us when traveling back to Coastal Alabama. We normally go to our favorite Steakhouse chain, but this time wanted to try local. Chose El Parian due to Yelp ratings, sadly we were very disappointed and wasted good money. Travelers beware! Keep going to trusted chain. First our customer service experience was atrocious. After waiting for a while and being the last standing, you would think that we would get next table, right? Nope! In walks a local and they are greeted warmly and seated promptly. Mind you, we've not even been greeted yet. Now to the food, salsa was tomatoes and maybe 1 other mystery ingredient, BAD! Ordered bean dip, bland! BAD!!
