I ordered the fish and chips. It took a very, very long time to come out. But when it did, I had to ask the server for silverware. She had all the time in the world to put that down. But both the French fries and the fish were dripping in grease. See the picture! You need a good hot fryer with clean oil to make fish and chips right. To the plus side they tried to compensate me, but that didn't matter with me. I had expectations of a good meal and was taken off guard on how bad both the service and meal were. Sombra Antigua is where you wanna go to have a fun time. No judgments here, just a relaxing good time. While visiting New Mexico, I decided to check out the wine tasting scene. Admittedly, my expectations for wineries outside of my home state of California are generally quite low. Not because I don't think that there is better wine out there, but simply because I don't want to quickly compare everything to what I already know. Coming here, I knew it wouldn't be anything like the wineries back home. But that's honestly what I enjoyed most about Sombra Antigua. I stopped by solo without a reservation, and literally left with newly made friends that I hung out with for the rest of the night and even the next day. I mean, the people are so friendly, welcoming, and trustworthy here. There was live music and I sat and watched. 15 minutes later I was actually up and DANCING with a group of people. Shayla dancing with unknowns?! At MY big age? In this new era?! It's a rarity, I tell you! But, I did it. And it was SOOO much fun. Not to mention, the wine was actually pretty damn tasty. Yep, I said it! It was tasty. I enjoyed their Viognier, Demi sec, Barbera, and sweet cider beer. Is it the best wine that I've ever had in my life?! No, not at all. Yesterday, was not my first time here, but one of many. I only resided in Anthony for about 18 months. Post 122 provided me a place I could go to decompress and swap military stories with fellow veterans and their guests. I recently stopped by a couple of months ago, after I moved to El Paso, just to see how things were and to my amazement the place was remodeled. They finally added an AMI jukebox, to include the ability to run credit and debit cards. In addition, they've also installed a pool table as well. The bar itself seats about 10-15 people and there's tables in the general area. Parking is great and have handicapped stalls directly in the front. There is a rental hall, which is quite large. I've posted a picture of the rental hall information. I'm very pleased to see this post come around. So, if your in the local Anthony, TX/NM area, stop by and wet your whistle and most importantly, support your veterans!
