Adorable corner store & deli! My husband, nephew and I literally just got back walking there from our airbnb.. such a wonderful surprise. The owner is so nice and funny. Everything is well organized and clean. They have hard alcohol, beer , wine, ice cream, treats and even a deli! The owner made us feel so welcomed and even gave my little nephew an awesome candy flash light that he is thoroughly enjoying as we speak. The guy behind the counter wouldn't sell me a 6-pack of beer because I only had my US passport on me as identification and not my drivers license. A passport is a fully valid form of ID, and he looked at it for a while but he clearly just didn't think that I looked enough like the photo. My passport photo is from 2017 and obviously he has the right to refuse service to anyone but this was pretty frustrating considering I've been 21 for almost 6 years. read more

First and last time customer. I walked in back to grab a sandwich and was met by a very disrespectful older lady. I went to grab a sandwich sheet, and she yelled at me saying there was already sandwiches made. 2 Latino men walked in shortly after and asked if they had hot sandwiches which she then rudely said read the sign, no. As they walked away she began making racist comments and stated "we don't accept EBT anyway" which one of them heard and called her out on it. I personally apologized to the men as it was totally uncalled for and definitely not a conversation I wanted to be a part of. DO BETTER, it's straight up sad to see this coming from such a beautiful town. The store looks very inviting but was a horrible experience. Will never return. read more

Asked the guy from the door if my daughter could pull her sweatshirt over face to buy an ice cream. Thought he was so nice by offering us both a mask! He said take two! Then after we said thank you, he said they are 50c each!! Added to the pop cycle that was $2.55. He charged my daughter basically $4bucks for that little treat. It's a bit expensive, but that's to be expected for a small grocery store, but there's one major flaw: They don't list their prices. All the 1 star reviews are kooks (people who are nuts and clearly from not from here.) nothing wrong with people from out of town. BUT do not come here to our town and treat our people bad and then talk trash about them. Now for the review: solid place to come and grab anything you need, they have all the essentials plus treats and snacks. Great beer selection! And most of all very friendly staff! They treat you like they will see you every day and like a good friend. Good hellos and goodbyes, they follow the mask rules the same as everyone else, BUT THEY ARE NOT RUDE ABOUT IT LIKE THE BS REVIEWS HAVE STATED. David (the best cashier ever) has given me a mask free on multiple occasions and if he had to charge me "0.50 cents" for one, so be it, if I forgot my mask then that is my own fault, at least they have some available unlike Safeway. Found myself at Sunset beach on a Sunday unprepared. So I found the closest place to get some lunch. Little town store with a deli in the back. But the deli was closed today, but there were some premade sandwiches in the fridge, for $10/ each. Nothing special just meat, lettuce, tomato, bell peppers. Hard to find parking because it's in the middle of a neighborhood. Definitely don't recommend, will find another place. read more

This place is convenient and the only market in LSB. They have real half and half for the coffee and the coffee's not bad. They also have a little of everything, so you'll probably find what you need. I have to say that the guy who's usually at the cash register is kind of rude and unhelpful and the same goes double for the lady in back on deli duty. I went in there today to get a sandwich - no one on duty at the deli counter as far as I could tell. I grab a premade sandwich that looks okay but isn't anywhere near being worth the $10 they want (but it's the only show in town, so I was willing to pay). While trying to get an extra mayo packet, the guy in front tells me to go in back by the deli but doesn't give clear instructions. I respond back to him telling him I can't find it. Lo and behold, from the back a woman says in a rude tone of voice, "Hello, can I help you?" I guess she was there all the time. Not making sandwiches tho' or staying alert for people who might want one, just reading the paper. When I tell her what I want, she says "I don't have them! I can't get them [mayo packets]". At that point, I lost my appetite, put the sandwich back in the case and left these two charmers to go about their day. Good luck unloading all those pre-made sandwiches. My boyfriend and I are watching my aunt's house and dogs while her and her family are out of town for the week. We needed creamer at 8am, we walk over it's like 1 minute away. We forgot our face masks, we wrapped out hoods tightly around our faces and walked in, this man points at us says "that doesn't work, and that doesn't work" then proceeds to SNAP HIS FINGERS AT US and point to the door, the best part ? He did all of this while not wearing a face mask himself, walking around setting up coffee and pasties for the public. Which is more unsafe here? read more

A friend and I went to grab a couple things from this store. When one worker was leaving she warned about protests in Watsonville and the owner said something about the "black suprematist groups" causing all the violence. We were shocked but continued. We grabbed some apple juice and another friend wanted some chips so we were asking which one they wanted. I found one I thought they would like so I picked it up. The owner came up to us and said, "hey, stop touching everything. Just stop." And so I said "sorry" but he was still really rude and unprofessional after that. I know I didn't touch anything that I didn't intend to buy. We decided to leave without buying anything and my friend said with a very nice tone, "do you want this somewhere so that you can wipe it down?" Then he tells us off saying to "get out of the store and never come back!" It was shocking. What do you do in that situation? So we just left in complete shock. Best local one stop shop. Been coming for 6 years now. Plenty of selection, even carrying some unique local wines- which prompted visits to nearby wineries I would not have known about if it weren't for this place. This is a tiny little corner grocery store, with all the basics. But I go there for a different reason--there's an AMAZING deli in the back, my favorite in the county. They have delicious made-to-order sandwiches to go, which I usually pair with chips and a drink, there's tons of options. This is a wonderful little Grocery. It's got an old school charm. George is the new owner. He is really nice person and has been very accommodating to the Seniors who live in the area. He has been in the process of remodeling the store and I like that the Isles are not as cluttered as they once were. I am disabled and have some mobility issues. anyway, I love the deli. You get to pick exactly what you want on your sandwich and there are tons of options. They also have a wide variety of items for such a small store. People say the owner isn't pleasing yet I have never run into an issue and I always ask about new drinks and if they have different juices ordered, so I'm not the ordinary customer. Rude -would be an understatement, as he was hostile, threatening, impatient, acted put-out, was overall unpleasant, and made me very uncomfortable. His packing job was also so janky that the item broke during shipping. So this literally cost me more than I paid him because my merchandise is now worthless. This "grocery" was the next street up from our vacation spot, so it was convenient. As other reviewers have stated, it looks run down & I found the shelves pretty bare on two stops in here. And yes, the cashier (owner?) was glued to his devices instead of even acknowledging customers coming and going. He only broke away long enough to ring up customers, and dole out change. Pretty much came across as having the personality of the cinder blocks this place is made of. I would very, very much recommend going a mile south on San Andreas Road to the KOA store- prices aren't set to gouge your wallet, its clean & stocked, and the employees exhibit having a pulse. read more

I recently had a terrible experience at this place. I went in to get a cold drink, as I work in the area. Wow what a change from the previous store. It obviously had been sold as the old store was inviting and friendly, had many food and beverage options, friendly service and people hanging out, a local family place. Now, there was no one around, the shelves are stocked with booze, wine, beer, liquor. I finally found an apple juice. As Ii went to the counter, I remarked to the guy sitting behind the counter,"Is this what people want now, just booze?" Mr. friendly said what are you getting, I said an apple juice, then he held it back and refused to sell it to me. I was shocked, a small local business acting so unfriendly. I, too, was a patron of the former owner of El Patio for years. Under the new owner, I went by to get coffee one morning and asked him if he had anything besides half-and-half, like milk or soy milk. He replied that this is not a coffee place and he doesn't intend to supply anything other than half-and-half. I wanted his new ownership to succeed so I said something about catering to the local customers needs. He asked me if I lived in the area and I said yes. Then he said that the locals are really not his customers and that they rarely spend anything at all. That he makes his money by selling to the tourists that come by so he doesn't really care about the local's business. I told him that I could see that that was the case and left. I have not been back. I'd rather drive a mile up the road to the Seascape Deli. He said he and his family had open dozens of sandwich shops all over and he knows his business!
