This turned out to be the trendiest spot on our itinerary so far since it actually felt like a bar restaurant with a somewhat younger crowd. This time we all sat around a dining table with Anthony Bourdain giving us the finger on the wall (Photo 6). We were served a savory Beef Sope topped with lettuce, tomato, and queso fresco (Photo 7). It was just a few bites but much needed at this juncture of the evening. When it came to wetting our whistles, they served a house specialty, the Cucumber Pineapple Tequila Margarita with a wedge of calamansi, the first real cocktail of the evening (Photo 9). The food was just okay. The enchiladas were interesting with the chicken on the side as opposed to inside. The sauce wasn't my favorite either. Perhaps, I would have fared better ordering something else. The quesadillas were full of a lot of shrimp but they were simply a 4 tortillas filled with cheese and shrimp so very basic. I will say, I really did enjoy everything else and would recommend people trying this place and they do have a lot of options. I kinda wish I tried one of the salads, they sounded delicious.

When we moved here a year later, we happened to rent a house in La Cieneguita. Since then we've been getting our lunches here almost daily. For 15 pesos, you can get a big gordita filled with delicious stews, beans, and cheese. They also make quesadilla and tacos, all with fresh homemade tortillas. My favorite is their gorditas though, as I love more stews and less cheese. And once you eat their salsa picante in their molcajete, you will get addicted fast. So spicy, so authentic, and they reel you in for more. I love eating my gorditas with lots of their hot salsa, then cool my mouth down with cucumber and lime agua or tamarindo. The owners are so nice and friendly, and very pretty too. The owner's son speaks English for tourists too. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
