We've actually been here a couple times now both times food came fast. Beverages came fast. Our server was friendly and attentive. We've gone at dinner time the lighting's been nice and low. It's fairly been fairly quiet both times we visited. I love the decor. Very colorful. The Spanish rice and the refried beans were normal like likely from a can . The enchiladas were tasty, the burritos were tasty. I typically don't get beef, but ordered beef and it was delicious. I had a chicken tamale with green sauce. Didn't know what to expect when walking in, but it certainly wasn't the charming interior of this restaurant! There we're murals on all the walls, and you could tell a lot of effort had been put into it's design when this place first opened. The repairs from replacing ceiling tiles we're pretty obvious, but not enough to detract from the overall ambiance. Our waiter brought out chips and salsa right away, and we ended up splitting an Enchiladas Sonora, which was delicious! Between that and the chips and salsa, which they immediately refilled when they saw we were running low, we were stuffed by the time the plate was cleared. The only blemish on our dining experience was when the bill was brought around. When paying, rather than giving me the pad and letting me choose the tip, the waiter pre-selected the second highest default option of 25%, kept the device in hand, and angled it towards me and asked if that was good. It was, because we had a great time, but the whole interaction gave me a really weird vibe, like the tip was being strong armed. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came in to Laredo's, but I was immediately impressed by their charming decorations - they clearly had spent a good amount of time creating a cute and welcoming vibe. We were seated right away and served chips and salsa. The waiter was very attentive, while also giving us enough time to peruse the many options on their menu. I had one of their enchilada meals - it looked and tasted so good I forgot to snag a picture of it. One strange thing happened at the end of the meal - when we were paying for our meal, the waiter had already chosen the 25% tip option and made it a little difficult to choose another tip option. We had dinner here on a whim because the restaurant next door was too long of a wait and we were starving and WOW it did not disappoint. We of course shared a pitcher of raspberry margarita which was quite sweet but super delicious. My fiancé and I both had the enchiladas. They had HUGE servings and so so yummy. I've gone to this restaurant dozens of times over the past decade or so. First of all, the ambiance -- always smells a bit like cleaning solutions, but at least you know it's clean. Hard to care about that though, because the murals and layout of the restaurant are just fantastic. Also the service is always excellent, even when it's busy, and your food comes fast. During covid times they have struggled to get our curbside pickup orders right, and their food doesn't travel as well as some other types, but it's still been a welcome change from being shut in. Of course the most important thing is the food, which has always been excellent. I've never had a bad experience with that and the portions are decent. My favorite are seafood tacos, enchiladas, and the combo meals. Once covid is done I can't wait to go back with friends and enjoy their margarita specials! I also ordered the traditional lime margarita on the rocks, but wouldn't recommend unless you like sweet drinks! I have been aware of this restaurant for years, and finally got around to trying it out, (May 15, 2019). I arrived at 1:30 PM for a late lunch, and half the tables were still occupied, (a good sign). On the plus side; convenient location at the intersection of Whitney Way and Odana Road, plenty of parking, reasonable prices, friendly staff, good chips & salsa, and the food was brought to my table FAST (within 5 minutes). I also give them credit for making an attempt at decor, with the walls painted with murals, as if you were at an outdoor cantina on the streets of a Mexican village. The food (burrito, tostada and quesadilla) was underwhelming, at first. By the time I was halfway through with the meal, I'd changed my mind. It took my palate a few minutes to adjust from my expectations, (spicier food). The ingredients were fresh, and the flour items well-baked. When the meal began, the cheese quesadilla was my least favorite part of the meal, by the end it was the star. I would not go out-of-my-way to dine here, or recommend this place as a must-do to for Mexican dining, but WOULD eat here if I was already in the neighborhood. I visited the Laredo's on Whitney Way to pick up my take out order. I placed my order thru the EatStreet app because I couldn't get thru on the phone. The app did not allow for me to place my order earlier and select a pick up time. I could only order for ASAP. The biggest issue is the food that should have taken at least 20 minutes to make was supposedly done in 15 according to the app notification. I arrived 10min after it was supposed to be ready and it was not. A very kind waiter made his way over to help me. He went to the kitchen to check my order and let me know it would be a couple more minutes. A few more customers came in and struggled with the same app issues. I had all the time in the world but they were counting on their food to be ready when the app said it would be. There were suddenly three guys trying to help all of us waiting for our orders and trying to keep up on tables. They were all doing a fabulous job working between the kitchen and the floor! We got out if there in a couple minutes. I wish I could have stayed to eat because the dining room is beautiful and everyone seemed to be having a good time at their table. The food is ok. Probably would have been excellent if I had eaten there. Ordered the Colorada chimichanga. The chicken inside is a bit dry but the cheese kinda helps mask that. If you're able, go to the one on Fish Hatchery. The food is about the same but the service is much better on FH. I live closer to Whitney and get carry out from there. About half the time they get the order wrong. It's hard to check the inside of the enchilada until you get home. My daughter ordered chicken and got beef. Go if you want dat belly full of hefty, creamy, mondo-goodness. I really liked the chile relleno - - it had that vegetal musty twist true to the pepper, and it really stood out amidst the sea of sauce and the ocean of food that is combo #7 with the beef enchilada that also asserted itself OK alongside the bay of beans and the craggy hillside of rice. The salsa, was excellent, actually, too. The service is efficient jaded professional. It's four hours later as I'm writing this, and I'm still stuffed. The restaurant is dated, but very clean, restrooms very clean and the food was fresh tasting and hot. If that is my intro, food-wise it's a warning. Well, this is very very bland, almost tasteless food. It even required additional salt, I kid you not. The menu is not anything I'm used to as "authentic American/Mexican". They did not offer any of my standard go-tos, so I got a combo plate. Pork tamale, beef tip tostada and chili relleno. The beef was like small beef stew cubes. Beefy flavor but nothing else. No cilantro or onion or lime wedge to enhance it. Table salsa is good, but no heat. No hot sauce on the tables. Very saucy meat on the tostada, already soaked through before I received it.i didn't taste the tamale and have 2/3 of the relleno left too. At least I can season it up as leftovers. Hubs shrimp Chimi was good but bland. The guacamole garnish was good, lime and cilantro flavors. There was a red sauce on the Chimi, but it literally did not have a flavor. There was a cheese sauce on the runny refried beans. It added some salt, but otherwise couldn't distinguish it from the beans. They were getting busy as we left. All the servers were Latino, but spoke English well enough. There was no extended exchanges or suggestions, etc about the menu. We found this place on Yelp as we were driving home to Milwaukee. read more

Not feeling it. While there's something to be said for a restaurant that can turn a lunch table in less than 30 minutes, the sheer mediocrity of the food has me hesitant to return. If you have a need for speed, this place is so fast even ol' Jimmy John would freak. My server dropped off a my complimentary basket of chips and salsa before my rear end hit the seat of my booth and within five minutes of my arrival, my server took my order and delivered my food. While not freshly made, Laredo's takes the time to warm each basket of chips. In addition, the consistency of the salsa allowed me get a healthy dose with each chip. .And better yet, another basket of chips magically appeared each time my previous serving ran low. I ordered the half chimichanga off the lunch menu for $6.49. When I opted for the beef, I had visions of deeply seared, marinated steak, like many of the taquerias in the area (Los Gemelos, Habanero's, Guadalajara, Sabor Queretano). The beef in my chimi was grainy, dry, ground beef - massive fail. Also disappointing was that the exterior fried tortilla had absolutely no crunch, probably the result of the mountain of moist guacamole and sour cream heaped on top of the smallish half chimi. The dish as a whole was under seasoned, I wish my table had a bottle of hot sauce so I could kick up the heat of my food. I would have requested some had my server checked back after he delivered my food. With so many more worthy local options for Mexican food (see above), I'll probably avoid Laredo's. read more

I'm picky when it comes to Mexican restaurants. We decided to come here when someone didn't eat sushi. A good selection in the menu. The 3 pineapple & pork enchiladas tasted ok. Service was fairly quick. We did notice several different work groups of 2-5 show up as we were leaving so its fairly popular. I have to say the bathrooms did put me off. They didn't appear that clean, a little run down, one of the 2 faucets was covered in a plastic bag and I would guess out of order. The other faucet was lose and in disrepair. This is one of my family's go-to get together spots whenever we need to decide on where to go to dinner for a group gathering. If you are going with a larger group, make sure to get there early (especially if you are planning to go during a dinner rush), as they do not accept reservations. You can have even just a couple people arrive early and they will start holding a table for you. My boyfriend is ridiculously obsessed with their rice (it is REALLY good).... He even usually orders one or two orders of it to-go after the meal, as well. He also swears by the Mexicali Quesadilla with beef and orders it every time. I have tried it and it is delicious. I think the being smothered in queso has something to do with it. My personal favorite is their Cancun (shrimp) tacos! They are so flavorful.... Enough food to satisfy you but light enough that you don't feel overly full and sluggish afterwards. If you order the chimichanga, be warned that it actually comes with TWO, which is pretty awesome because then you have a meal for later (if you don't eat them both in one sitting, of course). And you must try their chips (I mean, you're probably going to try them anyway because they bring them to your table and they also come with to-go orders). They are so fresh, light, and crispy. The service is friendly but can be slow at times, but it's not enough of an issue for me to take away a star. I mean, the food is just too good and makes up for it. O.M.G. Mind blown away by how good our food was--we got the Al Pastor Tacos and the Chile Relleno al Pastor! They were so good. It is the closest al pastor I have found that had been closest to taste compared to what I had in Mexico. Staff were nice and service was quick! For safer, staff had on masks, gloves, and abide by social distancing rules by spacing people by skipping tables. In addition, they give directions to obtain the menu by QR code or online!
