    Burrito Chicken Chipotle!

My lovely wife and I have been curious about El Poblano since it opened and finally had the opportunity to stop in for a Sunday lunch. Nice clean restaurant with good decor. We were greeted warmly and promptly. The hostess and our waiter were attentive and extremely pleasant. The salsa and chips were addictive. The chips were warm and crisp; the salsa really stood out; I could be wrong but I think it was prepared with roasted tomato sauce. Quite tasty. My wife had the Chiles Poblanos Rellenos and I had the Burrito Chicken Chipotle. The plating was visually appealing. The pictures online do not do it justice. Portions were large. We both found our dishes to be quite tasty. The creamy Chipotle cheese sauce on my burrito was just as warm and flavorful from my first to last bite. My wife and I enjoyed our meal, but couldn't quite finish our respective dishes, saving approximately 50% to take home. What we took home heated up nicely and served as our dinner later the same evening. The only area I would comment on for improvement would be making sure the menus are clean. My menu was noticeably wet and sticky. That said, the food, service, and ambiance were excellent. Based upon our dining experience, we look forward to returning and trying their other menu offerings! We highly recommend El Poblano!

I believe Flyover could be a strong contender for my favorite restaurant in mid Missouri. Our…read morewaitress was sweet and attentive - dinner moved along, but was paced nicely. My drink had a rose petal in it, but that little touch didn't feel contrived or cheeky - it was just a nice pop of color in a great-tasting drink. The baked Boursin cheese was absolutely amazing - I walked out of there realizing I probably ate half a wheel of cheese, and I totally didn't regret it. Dinner was the highlight - I ordered the boom boom shrimp - served on a bed of sushi rice, there were mangos, thinly sliced jalapeños, purple cabbage, shrimp fried to perfection, and a nicely flavored boom boom sauce on top. My only criticism of this place is that plates come out of the kitchen as they make them, so be prepared to share a dish or wait. We were halfway through my dinner before my friend's fish and chips arrived. I'm happy to share, but I'm not a fan of this dining trend. Overall fantastic dinner experience!!

Pretzels were warm and the cheese dip was very tasty. Fettuccine was good. 7/10. Solid. Slightly heavy on the salt. Pasta was good. 6/10. Not what I expected. Service was very nice. Pay online is a bonus, so convenient.

Had really high hopes for this place after a long day on the road. The menu looked inventive and…read moreamazing. Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.
