Coming to chain restaurants, sometimes the food is not fresh, but I was impressed by how fresh their chicken tasted from this location; their salad and the side did taste really good. I was a little skeptical of their churros; most of the time they're always chewy and greasy from other chain restaurants. Got the Grande Avocado Chicken Bowl and was surprised with the quality as my expectations were not that high. I'll have to make this a regular spot for lunch. Good portions and quality. Be careful coming to this location. We've eaten at a lot of El Pollo Loco locations and this is the first time biting into a bone. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Got a burrito to go in the drive through for lunch. Bit into a chicken bone. Called the same day. Woman was very kind, apologized, said she would make sure they took care of this and that a manager would call me soon. That was last month. Still waiting to hear back. The woman at the drive through was nice. Just wish they had better quality control and actually followed through making this right and making sure it doesn't happen to other customers. read more

This review is only for drive thru. My son loves the grilled chicken but I could pass. Not much meat on the chicken but the salads are worth it. Average chicken salad bowl bigger and better than chipotle. The churros are ok. Could be fresher. Pricier than local owned places. read more

We told the staff about our experience and she offered us a piece of dark meat a thigh LOL!!! We didn't want anything just wanted them to know. We had just landed in Salt Lake City and we were looking for a place to get some fast food types Mexican food, that is when we discovered El Pollo Loco, coming from Washington state, this was a new chain for us in Utah. We ordered the 2 pcs Fire-Grilled Chicken Combo (leg and thighs) with Mac n' Cheese and rice on the side and flour tortillas. The chicken was juicy, well spiced and very yummy, but unfortunately they missed the Mac n'Cheese in our order and gave us Mashed potatoes instead, which was still good. That's some tasty yardbird. I had the $5 chicken nachos combo. It did not disappoint. Plenty of chicken with cheese sauce, beans, pico, guac, sour cream and fresh chips. I'm loco for pollo loco! This place is chicktastic! I've usually go either all the way to Lehi or some where far far away to get me pollo fix. But with this new location near me, I can't tell you how convenient it is for me not needing to do so. I can even drive there during lunch and get a nice meal. It's the season to get all buff and stuff, but sometimes cooking and meal prepping isn't all that fun. I would go here to get my meal, whether it is a salad or one of their nicely prepared meals that's not high in calories. I've been here a couple of times, so here is the things I recommend. Their chicken wrap is very delicious. The chicken is always juicy and tender, everything in the wrap stays crispy and fresh. Double chicken avocado salad, best meal to have if you're watching your figure or even cutting to get all that muscle definition. If you are super hungry, totally recommend the chicken meal. Their roasted chicken is super delicious, tender and have the right amount of char to it. Don't forget, I totally recommend visiting the salsa bar. Their avocado salsa is really good. My brother had never been to an El Pollo Loco and he wanted to give it a try. Stopped by on a Thursday evening and they had a constant flow of customers. Service was surprisingly great, with someone passing by and taking our plates when finished. What separates El Pollo Loco from other fast food Spanish/Mexican food is the fresh chicken being grilled behind the counter. Love the concept where you can see 20-30 half chickens being grilled on their massive grills. Brother walked away a fan and I'll continue to keep it on my back up list for delicious, relatively healthy fast food. I tried El Pollo Loco specifically for their family meal deal as an alternative to other quick fried chicken joints. I went into the restaurant rather than ordering through the drive through so I could select my salsas. Inside the restaurant I saw that they were rather busy which meant they had a lot of turn over on the chicken and it was being grilled fresh on a huge grill right behind the counter. I took that as a great sign - no stale chicken! That is really what pushed this review from a 3 star to a 4 star was the freshly grilled chicken. They have a $20 family meal special (8 pieces of chicken) but I opted for the 12 piece family chicken meal that comes with three sides, tortillas (I opted for both corn and flour), and I upgraded the chicken to "mixed" which included the breast along with the other pieces. The meal combo was about $30. The chicken was pretty tasty. Not the best I've had but for a quick family meal I thought it was decent. The sides were ok. I ordered the pinto beans (pretty tasty), mashed potatoes (ok), and coleslaw (ok). It's just one of those places that's everywhere and it's quick and it's just okay. They're doing the best they can with all of the new restrictions on not being able to dine-in and so the drive-through was very busy. We ordered a large Mac and cheese twice because she didn't put it in the first time and then still they gave us a small Mac and cheese. The chicken was pretty good, Mac and cheese was pretty good but the noodles are kind of soggy. I think it's just one of those fast places if you're sick of McDonald's and you're on the road. They were very fast though and got us through the line quickly once the machine started working again (there was one down that wasn't accepting cards for a while) but they got the food out to us quickly. It was a beautiful day skiing with my wife. We were tired, though, and opted for some quick food for our family from El Pollo Loco. I only took a couple years of Spanish but, it was definitely crazy chicken. I downloaded their app and ordered dinner for pickup. Great news! I arrived and the food was ready for pickup. Our order was straightforward - salad for the wife, tostada for me and a couple kids meals with chicken and corn. Not only that, the order was ready when requested. Unfortunately, that's where everything failed and I will detail their simple, mindless mistakes on gross quantities (possibly, terminal for others): - Failed to provide ordered drinks for two kid's meals - Forgot all dressing for wife's salad (including the requested extra side dressing) - Failed to provide children's meal with accurate sides - assumed Mac n' Cheese - Gave us a shrimp taco that we didn't order - my daughter is allergic to seafood (possibly deadly) - AND the best! A huge hair in my tostada and wife's salad that I pulled out (see pic). So I called to get a refund on this colossal failure. The AGM (Edgar) was willing to make things right but the GM (jose@leemarunitedgroup.com)was not. They wanted me to drive down with the remaining horrible food to gets refund that night. I have kids that needed to sleep and were already disappointed with their dinner and hungry. I ended up taking the drive so I could 'prove' our dinner was horribly prepared and to ensure I received a refund (which I did). Why should I have to return the horrible food I haven't eaten to get a refund(a steamy pile of horrible sick food). THANKS JOSE! This company is clueless when it comes to service and clearly doesn't adhere to cleanliness policies and the ability to make simple order confirmation. The ladies in back have hair flying around around the grills. Gross! I am reviewing if their failures and sick preparation skills need to be reported to the city/county.
