I finally got to try Tamarind, and I'm glad I did! I ordered the beef phó and it did not disappoint! This was one of the best phó that I've had in the SLC area, and the sad part for me is that they had so many delicious items on the menu that I didn't get to try them all! The phó had rich, deep flavor and very authentic! Service was lightning fast. I got mine to go, but they had plenty of tables to eat in and very kid friendly, with free parking lot beside the place for ease of access! I highly recommend you give Tamarind a try!

My husband and I were looking for something to eat on a Sunday evening and found this within walking distance from our house. I love finding good places near us that are open on Sunday because downtown can be pretty quiet at that time. There are iPads to order off of and then they bring the food out to you/yell your name for you to come grab it. The iPads allow you to customize things still, and for us, it was a smooth ordering process. After ordering, they brought out my husband's iced Thai tea. They also checked to make sure we had the Diet Coke we'd ordered, which we did because we already grabbed it out of the fridge. It is a bottle of Diet Coke, which isn't my favorite, but it got the job done! I like the size of bottle they offer. My husband also liked his ices Thai tea!! For food, we started with the cream cheese wontons. The wontons were so light and crispy. Cooked perfectly! The filing was good, but I do like them a little sweeter than these were. They came with a good sauce. My husband ordered pho. The broth was so delicious and made for a really cozy meal. The meat in the pho was good. He accidentally ordered Chinese sausage on the side, and it was actually so good! I got the 6" banh mi with pork belly. I love that they offer multiple sizes because I didn't want a full sandwich. The meat was delicious. I got no spread on it. The veggies were super fresh and the flavors combined well. I also tried a chicken egg role. It was good! Overall, we really enjoyed this experience. The food was delicious. The people who brought out our food were kind. There is a lot of seating with tables for 2 and 4 people that could easily be pushed together to accommodate a larger group. I even saw the employees help a big family sit together at one table. I would def recommend this place!

Good pho - plentiful helping and no soy in broth! Fresh rolls were just meh but glad to have options with my gluten, soy and dairy allergies. Great comfort meal within city creek center, especially on a chilly day!

Honestly, our group had pretty low expectations going into a pho restaurant in Utah (since most of us grew up in California and have grown up using pho our entire lives) but we were pleasantly surprised by the pho here! The entire place is self-service - You order on a tablet, they bring it out for you, and you bus your own tables. Pretty efficient all around!

Found this place on Yelp and never heard of it but decided to stop in. I have to say, the experience was a little confusing. I would recommend having a more clear process on whether to order at the counter or the kiosks, and what to do once you order. It seemed like we waited a longgg time for our food and were unsure if we did something wrong. However, I was pleased with the food. It seemed very authentic, lots of Vietnamese people there to eat as well. My sister and I split the Garlic Butter Beef Bahn Mi sandwich and the coconut chicken tamarind bowl and I thought the order was just right. Appreciated that they had lots of different protein options, wished a majority of them weren't extra charge. Overall, yummy food. A great Vietnamese option for the area.

I was walking around SLC for the first time, solo, and wanting to both discover the city but also get something to eat. This spot was perfect. I don't always want a full-blown fancy, sit-down meal when I'm alone, so I liked just being able to relax here and watch the city go by out the window. The food was great! I had shrimp spring rolls that were fresh and flavorful. I also got a regular size Bahn Mi sandwich with the coconut curry chicken. It was really good but super-filling. I had half remaining and boxed it up and gave it away to some people out front. I also really enjoyed the side of beef pho broth that came with it. Also enjoyed having the sambol sauce and chili oil at the table so I could spice things up a bit. Probably more of a traditional lunch spot vs dinner, but it all tastes great no matter the time of day.

Popular place for fast Vietnamese good. We shared a custom bowl and each had a Ramune to drink. Ordering was easy enough at the screens on the left, and the staff brought it out to us.

What a gem! In town for business and found this place on Yelp. So so good. One of the best Bun Bo Hue I have ever had. Rich think broth filled with lots of meat and happiness. I can't wait to go back.

    Katrina F.

Great Pho! we got the beef pho with just noodles, one with chicken, and also fried the fried tofu. The tofu pieces were quite large and would have preferred if they were smaller. The pho was a great size and came with all the toppings, fish sauce, and chili paste for you to adjust yourself. Personally I thought the fried wontons were average and was disappointed in the lack of flavor. The cream cheese wontons had a very small amount of cream cheese we were hoping for a different ratio. It's a self order kiosk and they bring the food out to you, the place was very clean and we still felt very cared for. Would definitely come back for the chicken pho but would skip the appetizers.

I was downtown and returned to Tamarind. Glad that they are consistent in their quality of food. My pho broth was full of flavor and fresh ingredients. The loaded tots were delicious as ever and my first Banh Mi I've had here was delicious as well. Again everything is self serve and readily available. Their employees are always helpful and kind. Just ask any employee if you have questions. Wish they were closer to me, but definitely a worthwhile visit if you are craving pho. Parking is the only struggle as it is street parking only.

We had family meet us at our hotel (who we hadn't seen in YEARS) & it was funny that we had a bunch of foodies in the group. For such a large group we narrowed it down to 2 places and glad we choose Tamarind. It was a late lunch so we were keeping it light, but so many good things that we really couldn't hold back. Family & good food are key, and we had so many memories. The staff worked with us to adjust the tables and as we all placed food orders on the kiosk, things came out as soon as they were ready. Food didn't disappoint, and we all were in family share mode. Spring Rolls, a variety of custom Pho's, Kirin Ichiban Beer... I couldn't keep up with all the goodies but reaching and grabbing from my cousin! Everyone talked about the Pho's and the flavors. The takeout containers helped at the end Mini family reunion and was not disappointed with the food, service, & value.

Trivia: What tasty morsel of potato is offered here as a side? (Surprised me at first) The ordering system along the left wall when you walk in, is convenient and easy. Take all the time you need to review the menu items and make a selection. I didn't seek to change much so I didn't discover how difficult or easy it is to sub things in and out. Bathroom situation is sort of weird. You need a code to unlock it, but you don't know if someone is in there. The pho was delicious: - I really enjoyed the two varieties of onions. - The meatballs were great. - I wasn't a big fan of the tendons and there were a lot of those. Sometimes, in the broth they sort of look like onions. I would ask if I could sub those out next time. When I was done eating and still had a LOT left, I asked for a takeout container. It was a tall styrofoam almost like a big gulp. It was too narrow to pour in easily and made a big mess, which, because I felt bad, I cleaned up. I'd probably ask for a different container or ask them to do it over the sink next time.

Loated tater tots with chicken and kimchi
    Micaela Q.

We are obsessed with this place. We always get their pho, the one that has like 3 meats, and it's a little spicy, so good and hearty. Their loaded tater tots are a must, the portion size is BIG, we always have leftovers, it comes with lots of kimchi which we love and their special sauce, omg I'm salivating right now. Their bahn mi is also pretty good, the pate was tasty and would get it again. Lastly, the staff is very nice and the place itself has a great vibe.

My mouth is watering as I write this overdue review. Caputo's was a must-stop for us on our way out…read moreof SLC, and I really wish we had something small and family-run like this in CA. The closest store I can think of that has such a wide selection of meats and cheeses is Eataly, but that is huge (and a chain) compared to Caputo's. Originally, I found Caputo's while looking for sandwich shops, but was very very happy when I found out they also offered charcuterie meats. We didn't end up getting any cheese bc of the drive, but did choose some fancy meats to bring home (black truffle salame & cabacero iberico), which were so delicious. As for the sandwiches, I went with The Caputo while my husband went with the Old School (alas I forgot to take a photo before he devoured it). The staff were efficient and our sandwiches were ready pretty quickly, even with a small lunch rush line. When I say The Caputo was one of the best Italian sandwiches I've ever had, I mean it. The veggies were delightfully fresh, the meats were aplenty, and the olive oil + balsamic was perfect without making the bread soggy. My husband also raved about his sandwich might I add. The staff were friendly, and there is a small seating area should you wish to enjoy your sandwiches next door. We also browsed around the market area and picked up some truffles and pasta flour so I could try my hand at making homemade pasta. There was so much to look at, it was like a treasure trove, but we had to be conscious of what we truly wanted to bring home vs what caught our eyes in the moment. Caputo's will definitely be one of our first stops the next time we visit SLC!

The sandwiches are smaller, more expensive , less variety and the service was SLOW. It was 11:30 am and no lines, about 10 patrons in the whole place. Shocked to see no heavy inch traffic . There are no deli salads anymore in the sandwich shop nor in the grocery store section. All the grocery has is imported jars , hard pasta and meats. There is no longer any amazing smells of bread and spices like I've experienced in other I Italian delis and shops in many other cities. If you go there now instead of like in the "old days", which weren't so long ago. you might think it's ok but not anymore in my opinion. Tony used to be behind the counter running the show, fast service lots of people. It sucks now

The owner was kind and helped me pick between the two sandwiches I was being indecisive about - the Oh Schnitzel and the Hot Chopped Cheese. He asked if I could handle spicy and I said yes. I let him choose a sandwich for me between the two and he chose the Hot Chopped Cheese and said he thinks I'd enjoy it. He described it as a sandwich with chopped-up cheeseburger fillings inside, and they use a lamb and beef patty instead of just beef. Right, he was. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich and the meat was spiced and slightly spicy, but nothing I couldn't handle. The sandwich was flavorful, and I'm impressed that the bread wasn't too thick because sometimes places serve sandwiches with way too much bread-to-filling ratio. The bread was also a nice texture, I'm glad it wasn't too toasty or crunchy like some sandwiches can get that rub the roof of my mouth raw. I felt like I had a well-balanced meal out of the Chopped Cheese. Flavor-packed meat, cheese, veggies, bread - that's all you need. The food was delicious, and I don't doubt that the rest of the items on the menu taste great, but the prices feel high, yes, even in this economy. I say this because I was able to finish this sandwich and still felt I had room to eat some more, perhaps a little snack. I almost always cannot comfortably finish my food in one sitting when dining out, so that was a sign to me that this wasn't all that much food, and I could tell from the get-go because the sandwich did look small.
