Mostly a low-cost airlines terminal ie ryanair, easyjet, norwegian and so on. Easy access to the train as well as the metro to go in and out of the city. And the cheapest too. The journey takes about 30 mins via train vs 45 min via metro. Food is limited once inside security, not too many options. However its easy to cross security as well as Customs to leave Spain. A few duty free shops, so no need to shop at the main Duty free shop once you cross security, smaller ones, with almost everything you need is available once you get past it all.

Barcelona's Terminal 2 is sadly one of the poorest airport terminals I've visited at recent years, of course located at Barcelona El-Prat Airport which is the main airport to serve Catalonia. This terminal seems to be used by some of the more budget airlines, including Monarch who I flown with to and from Manchester for my week in Barcelona. I found the airport staff to be much more unhelpful than normal. The toilet conditions were very unclean, and there seemed to be rarely any staff about. There were no disabled toilets. There was a lack of places to pick up something to eat or drink too, even worse than it usually is at an airport. There was a lack of signposting to the gate, hence the confusion of having to go through passport control before even getting to the gates, which in my opinion is something which should be done at the start because people don't expect to go through security again, so if you're in a rush you could expect that panic of missing your flight especially with huge queues. There is free wi-fi however the free wi-fi is very slow and has adverts which is frustrating, and it did take a long time to connect too which was awful. My Movistar signal around the airport terminal also was really poor. Due to lack of facilities, confusion and awful staff I sadly feel this terminal 2 at Barcelona El-Prat deserves a single one star.

For my British Airways flight they would not allow you to check in any earlier than 2 1/2 hours before the flight which is problematic on two fronts. First the port of Barcelona is a major hub for Cruises (that is why we were catching a flight) so arriving first thing with luggage in hand is a typical practice for passengers - so it is baffling that they would not let you access the departure lounge amenities any earlier (at best it's a poor business decision). Secondly the arrivals and check in areas are devoid of any form of said amenities (if you discount a sandwich vending machine and an ATM) and there is minimal seating and only sporadic WiFi connection available to boot. However all of this would have been a mild irritation at the end of a vacation had it not been for the completely unhelpful & rude check-in staff. When they patrolled the check-in line to demand travelers not on the next flight to leave the line I asked if there was anywhere we could go to wait to which the staff member waved a dismissive hand and grumbled "somewhere in the airport). I asked when should I return to the line she said 12:30 (it was 10:50). Given the line was moving at a snails pace we rejoined the line at 11:50, after I returned to the line it took another hour to reach the front of the line (I did get to watch one of the check-in staff rudely argue with a young mother over charging her to check her stroller. The check-in clerk at the desk we were lined up stepped out from behind the desk to announce that you can only check-in 2 1/2 hours before your flight. Following a quick exchange where I attempted to explain we'd been told to come back at 12:30, the Check-in decided it was appropriate to talk to me like a toddler and use her fingers to count back from my flight time of 4:20 and then in a raised voice, as she turned away, told us to leave (we were already in the process of gathering up our luggage).

Disregard the note on their site that check-in is not 24h - I contacted them to confirm there's always someone at the front desk. Unfortunately they didn't respond to my question about how to find them within the airport. Assuming you're staying in between flights, you'll have to exit and then re-enter security. To find the hotel, go down to the main floor where families meet arrivals and then back through the cafe area to the back wall. To your right (after the Caixa bank) there should be a set of doors and walk way leading to a new building with the Business Center, which is where the hotel is. Our room reeked of unidentifiable food from check-in through the morning, so much so that I was worried it would permeate my hair and clothes. We were also greeted by several flies in our room. There is no duvet, only a sheet. To suffice, we pulled out a nasty blanket from the closet and laid it on the lower half of the bed. The shower door doesn't close and its lining isn't sealed tight so water leaks out, covering the entire bathroom area. The hair dryer overheats and shuts off after ~30 seconds, which means it took 20 minutes (mostly waiting time) to dry my hair. The room is actually not too tiny, even for 2 people. So if you've got a quick turn between flights, it may be worth sucking it up (and forking over the $$$). But if I had to do it again, I'd rearrange our itinerary and stay offsite.

I still don't know...). Let me explain: - Family vacation for 1 week - We reserved the car online (SITE: VIPCARS) and offered a good price, but then when we arrived at the agency counter, in my case 30 minutes after the drop-off time, I was informed that they no longer had my car available, but that they would have to upgrade it and that I would have to pay practically double for another vehicle. Furthermore, they wanted me to take out full coverage insurance at the counters. I had also paid for full insurance on the VIPCARS website and would have to get new insurance again... After my insistence and dissatisfaction, they started telling me they wouldn't rent me any more cars and that I should contact VIPCARS, because they weren't obligated to rent me the car and even thought I was being rude. I contacted VIPCARS by phone, and they told me there was nothing they could do and that I had to figure it out... INCREDIBLE...! Unable to find a solution, I contacted another operator at the airport, SIXT, which did me the favor of getting me a car at the last minute, despite paying €530. We arrived at the Barcelona airport and were greeted by Mercedes. She was so pleasant and very informative. We flew from Barcelona to Madrid and the ticket agent was very rude. I don't remember the question now but she had no clue what customer service was and also did not like to speak. Worse, on the plane, everybody's sound system and video were not working. For the whole flight. From Madrid to Miami! We had been in a rush that day and I was not able to eat much for breakfast on the cruise ship we were leaving. I also did not like that food choices at the Barcelona Airport and we raced to get to the departure area in Madrid. So no time for me to eat. We were served two meals on the flight from Miami to Madrid. The first one was truly hideous. I normally pickier with my food but when I am hungry and flying, I don't really have a choice. The supposed meat I was served truly horrific. But the salad was actually fresh and the dressing was really good. The crumb cake was very tasty and fresh. Second meal was breakfasty items that I do not even remember just a few weeks later. It was just okay. I tried the red and white wines and both were definitely decent. But I am not a wine snob. They got us home safely and did not lose our luggage. That and Mercedes were the highlights of my Iberia experience.

From the first second we arrived at the airport, Iberia continually reached new lows. They did not post a gate for checkin until less than an hour and forty minutes prior to departure. Then the gates they posted did not have any staff. Now 90 minutes from departure another passenger/victim discovered all 200 people were at the wrong check-in desks. We had to run for 5 minutes and were able to get checked in about an hour before the flight. Security was decent and we arrived at the listed gate with about 50 minutes to spare. The fun was only beginning. While standing in the free for all line, they changed the gate so we all ran to the new one. The gate agents had no clue their gate was our flight, and had no interest in helping anyone find out what was going on. Lo and behold, with less than 30 minutes before the scheduled takeoff, Ms. I don't give a crap announced that the original gate was now correct. So run to that gate and stand in another line. They then changed the flight to almost an hour delay so ciao bambino to our connecting flight to Barcelona. After standing in line for another 30 minutes, we finally boarded. Landing in Madrid after the connection had left, we went to the original Barcelona gate and asked the agent what we should do? We obviously interrupted some very important games of solitaire or tinder romances as she disdainfully waved us away to go to the help desk. So, off we went and found 3 non-functional kiosks and not one sentient being, or at least a breathing Iberia representative. We then had the brilliant idea to go to the Iberia business lounge and see if they could help us. We finally ran into someone who at least showed a modicum of interest and helpfulness and were put on standby for a flight in 3 hours. We asked about our luggage catching up to us and we received the very assuring "maybe". 30 minutes later, we both received economy seats 21 rows apart but we did not care. Flight left on time and arrived on schedule. We checked our Apple ID tags and all of our luggage was still in Madrid so off to find the lost luggage desk. After asking a half dozen people and wandering around for 30 minutes, we found it. Shockingly, there was a line of over 20 people waiting to report lost bags. The story is not over yet as we have been waiting for over 45 minutes and are only marginally closer to the two beleaguered agents. Where this nightmare will end is anyone's guess. We fly all the time and can safely say Iberia is the worst airline known to man or woman. From the complete disorganization and unhelpful attitudes, I am shocked they are not extinct. I guess when government runs an airline, there are no consequences for incompetence and they just keep gorging on the public teat. I would rather hitch hike in a two sizes too small speedo with a transparent bag of $100s around my neck than suffer through another Iberia "flight". Y'all have been warned and can only blame yourselves if you are foolish - no, stupid enough - to ever use Iberia. Caveat Emptor cannot be stressed strongly enough.
